Chicago White Sox DH Adam Dunn hinted that he could retire at the end of this season but said he hasn't made a decision. "It's just like anything," Dunn said Monday, Aug. 18. "You're used to doing something your whole life, and I know it's going to be an adjustment, but I'm fortunate to be able to put myself in this situation at a pretty young age to make the call. There's nothing bad about that. I'm not sad about that. I'm actually pretty happy about it."

Chicago White Sox DH Adam Dunn said he is feeling healthy and is finally starting to swing the bat well after he homered and doubled Monday, July 7. Dunn was in a 4-for-29 slump before the game Monday. Dunn's 53 walks put him third in the American League, and his 4.52 pitches per plate appearance rank him first in that category.
Fantasy Tip: Dunn is another one of those very streaky hitters than can frustrate his owner tremendously. Homers could come in bunches after his performance Monday. Unfortunately, the All-Star break could interrupt his hot streak.

Look for the Seattle Mariners to approach the Chicago White Sox about trades before the deadline. OFs Adam Dunn and Dayan Viciedo and SS Alexei Ramirez may be of interest to the Mariners.
Fantasy Tip: Why the Mariners would want to muddy an already crowded outfield situation is a good question, but the team would make the postseason if the season ended today. That is a good reason to keep an eye on potential destinations for two of these three. Adam Dunn is the odd man out, as a low average and all-or-nothing approach at the plate make him a risky fantasy value.

Chicago White Sox 1B Paul Konerko (back) hasn't seen much time at first base with 1B Jose Abreu (ankle) out, because he has been dealing with occasional back stiffness. 1B Adam Dunn has made 14 starts at first this year, with Konerko starting there just six times.

The Chicago White Sox placed 1B Jose Abreu (ankle), the major league leader in home runs with 15, on the 15-day disabled list with tendonitis in his left ankle Sunday, May 18. He has been diagnosed with posterior tibia tendonitis. OF Adam Eaton (hamstring) was activated from the DL in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: The White Sox are being cautious with their Cuban slugger. It could be an injury that keeps him out only for two weeks, but keep an eye on Abreu's progress. In his absence, expect Paul Konerko to see regular playing time at first base, and he could share time at the position with Adam Dunn.
