Angels | Albert Pujols back in the cleanup spot

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 15:51:10 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (hamstring, ankle) is batting fourth as the designated hitter against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman Thursday, June 23.

Fantasy Tip: While Pujols has 12 home runs and 45 RBI, his .234/.312/.396 slash line is more of what to expect from the 36-year-old veteran. He remains a starter in all fantasy formats, but don't expect prime production from Pujols at any time in 2016.

Angels | Albert Pujols not taking any chances

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 09:34:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (hamstring, ankle) has not been swinging a bat, and said, "When I'm good, I'm good, and I'm going to play. Right now, I'm not going to take my chances."

Fantasy Tip: The 36-year-old veteran has a respectable 12 home runs and 45 RBI this season, but his .234/.312/.396 slash line highlights his offensive decline. He remains a viable option in the majority of seasonal leagues, but you should expect to be without Pujols for the immediate future. Stay tuned for updates.

Angels | Albert Pujols out with injury

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 14:22:11 -0700

Los Angeles Angels 1B Albert Pujols (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Tuesday, June 21, because of a sore hamstring. 3B Jefry Marte will serve as the designated hitter and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: It does not appear that Pujols is dealing with a serious injury, but owners should keep an eye on the situation. Marte has at least one hit in each of the last five games and has two RBI during that span. Marte could be an attractive sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues.

Angels | Albert Pujols moves up all-time list

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 23:28:34 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols had an RBI single in the sixth inning Wednesday, June 15, against the Minnesota Twins. It was the 2,724th hit of his career, tying him with Hall of Fame 2B Roberto Alomar for 60th place on the all-time hits list.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols is hitting just .232 overall on the season, but he still has 12 homers and 43 RBIs. He isn't quite the Albert of old, but he is still dangerous and a useful fantasy option in the power categories.

Angels | Albert Pujols heating up

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 16:20:24 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols has a slash line of .289/.368/.528 in his last 163 plate appearances.

Fantasy Tip: The 36-year-old started the season slow but has picked it up of late for his owners and has a .238/.319/.433 slash line on the year with 12 home runs and 39 RBI. In the middle of the Angels order, the slugger won't produce a high average but could easily return to the 30-homer mark again. He's a must-start in all fantasy leagues as long as he's healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols injured his ankle in the last game and will not have to play in the field Monday so he can rest the ankle. He is batting .333 with one home run and four RBI over the last seven days and should be a solid fantasy option in most leagues.

Angels | Albert Pujols resting

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 14:30:33 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 1. 1B C.J. Cron is starting at first base and is hitting cleanup against Detroit Tigers SP Michael Fulmer. Also, OF Mike Trout is serving as the designated hitter, which allows OF Shane Robinson to enter the lineup in the No. 8 spot in center field.

Fantasy Tip: It's Pujols' first day off of the season. The veteran slugger isn't the hitter he once was, but he still has 11 home runs and 36 RBI despite a .231 average. He's well on his way to another 30-homer season, just don't expect him to help in average anymore. Cron might be worth a look in daily games after a two-homer contest last night, including the walk-off shot. Robinson should be ignored everywhere. Trout, as always, is a must-start.
