Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton sitting vs. Dodgers

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 13:43:34 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton is not in the lineup Friday, April 29. OF Ichiro Suzuki is starting in right field and batting first against Milwaukee Brewers SP Zach Davies Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to replace Stanton where you can in your seasonal leagues and avoid him in daily contests. He already has seven home runs through 88 plate appearances for the year. Suzuki is 8-for-25 to start the season with a .370 on-base percentage, which makes him a potential low-priced option in DFS.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna takes a seat

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 14:58:18 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 28. OF Ichiro Suzuki is starting in center field and is batting sixth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Kenta Maeda.

Fantasy Tip: Ichiro will get to face his Japanese counterpart in Maeda. Maeda has been one of the better pitchers in all of baseball in April, though, so Suzuki won't be a strong daily selection Thursday evening. Ichiro does have eight hits in 21 at-bats (.381) to begin the year, but he doesn't run much anymore and his power is lacking.

Marlins | Dee Gordon sitting out

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 07:25:26 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon is out of the lineup Thursday, April 21, with OF Ichiro Suzuki leading off.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is hitting .333 on the season, but he's not a great DFS player as a singles hitter to begin with. Add in the fact he's facing Max Scherzer today, and he's worth passing on.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna, Martin Prado resting

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 11:58:24 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna and 3B Martin Prado are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 20. OF Ichiro Suzuki is starting in center field and hitting second, while OF Derek Dietrich is starting at the hot corner and is batting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is a legend but has fallen off considerably and has very little daily or fantasy upside for that matter. Dietrich has surprising power (10 homers in 250 at-bats last year) and excels against righties, so he may work out as a cheap deep sleeper in daily formats.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna sitting Wednesday

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 08:35:43 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 13, with OF Ichiro Suzuki hitting second. SS Adeiny Hechavarria also has the day off, and SS Miguel Rojas is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki and Rojas aren't real strong DFS options against Logan Verrett.

Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki returning to Miami

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 10:28:06 -0700

The Miami Marlins are re-signing OF Ichiro Suzuki for the 2016 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki, at age 41, has essentially become a backup outfielder for the Marlins, and he'll likely continue to do so next year barring injuries to the other players on roster. That makes him undraftable in standard fantasy baseball leagues, and he'll strictly be a deep sleeper pick in the right matchups against right-handers when he draws into the lineup on FantasyScore.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna not in Friday lineup

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 13:04:14 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is not starting Friday, Sept. 18, against the Washington Nationals. OF Ichiro Suzuki is batting seventh against Nationals SP Max Scherzer.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) had a .111 average against Scherzer, so he takes a seat Friday. Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) bats .333 against the Nationals and .233 against Scherzer, so he has a bit more luck. He isn't a bad salary-cap saver.

Marlins | Dee Gordon out of the starting lineup

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 08:25:25 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Sept. 13. OF Derek Dietrich is starting at second base and batting sixth and OF Ichiro Suzuki is batting first against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: While Scherzer ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) has struggled over his past seven starts with a 6.08 ERA, neither Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) or Dietrich ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) project as strong FantasyScore plays. At best, they're contrarian fliers Sunday.

Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki will not start

Sun, 06 Sep 2015 09:21:08 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki is not in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Steven Matz Sunday, Sept. 6. OF Cole Gillespie will start in center field and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) may be sitting out because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Gillespie ($2,700. 5.4% of cap) has three hits and three RBI over his last nine games and may not be a great option on FantasyScore.

Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki playing right field

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 12:14:33 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki will bat sixth and play right field against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Saturday, Sept. 5. OF Marcell Ozuna is not in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is a career .290 hitter against Colon in 100 career at-bats, with two doubles, a triple, three home runs and nine RBIs. He could be worth a flier in FantasyScore this evening.
