Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton takes a seat

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 07:04:49 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton is out of the lineup Wednesday, June 22, with OF Ichiro Suzuki hitting leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is hitting .413 this month, and he's a low-end option against John Gant as he's 18 hits shy of 3,000.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 12:36:18 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is not playing Tuesday, June 21, against the Atlanta Braves. Ozuna's replacement, OF Ichiro Suzuki, will lead off against Braves SP Bud Norris.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna is having a superb season to date with a .322-15-43 line, and all this is for Ozuna is a scheduled night off. Suzuki has been decent as of late and is still a good bet in daily formats. His playing time is uneven, so DFS is your best bet for Suzuki and he is a valuable start tonight in the leadoff spot.

Marlins | Two Fish sit against lefty

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 11:26:36 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich and 1B Justin Bour are out of the lineup Monday, June 20, with Colorado Rockies left-handed SP Jorge De La Rosa on the mound. OF Ichiro Suzuki is leading off, and 1B Chris Johnson is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is hitting .425 this month, and he's a low-end option against De La Rosa. Johnson is hitting .245 overall, but he hits lefties better. He's a low-end consideration hitting behind Giancarlo Stanton.

Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki passes Pete Rose

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 20:44:46 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-5 versus the San Diego Padres Wednesday, June 15, giving him a total of 4,257 hits in professional baseball between the Japanese and North American major leagues. He had 1,278 hits for the Orix Blue Wave of Japan's Pacific League from 1992 to 2000 and has collected 2,979 hits in Major League Baseball since 2001. The previous record for hits in professional baseball was established by Pete Rose, who collected 4,256 hits in Major League Baseball from 1963 to 1986.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is batting .349 with nine RBI through 126 at-bats this season. He should continue to be viewed as a productive source of salary cap relief in DFS.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton out of the lineup

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 10:05:04 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton is out of the lineup Wednesday, June 15, with OF Ichiro Suzuki leading off.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton is sitting against his second straight right-hander in what has been the worst slump of his career. He's hitting .119 in June and .194 on the year. Suzuki is hitting .412 this month, but singles hitters don't do a lot of damage in DFS. He's a low-end option against Luis Perdomo.

Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki approaches milestone

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 05:38:06 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki had three hits Monday, June 13, in a 13-4 win over the San Diego Padres. Suzuki moved within one hit of tying Pete Rose's 4,256 career hits, and he is also 23 hits away from 3,000 in this country.

Fantasy Tip: In leagues that allow weekly substitutions and in DFS formats, Suzuki is turning into a stronger play. He's having a decent season, and the team is taking advantage of it. Suzuki is still a risk for other formats where changes are made less often, because he won't be an everyday starter.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton sitting Monday

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 15:35:33 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton (rest) is not in the lineup Monday, June 13, versus San Diego Padres SP Colin Rea. OF Ichiro Suzuki will start in his place in right field and bat leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton has just four hits -- none being homers -- in 39 at-bats this month, which is good for a disgusting .103 batting average. As a result, it seems like the team is trying to give him a mental break in this one, which is about the only thing you can do for a star slugger like Stanton. Ichiro, meanwhile, has been terrific this year, owning a .336/.394/.397 line with six steals, so he could be a fine value play for daily leagues this evening.

Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki closer to 3,000 hits

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 04:12:41 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki had two hits and an RBI in a 10-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday, June 9. Suzuki is now 27 hits from 3,000 for his career in the United States. Suzuki had seven hits against the Twins and is now hitting .333.

Fantasy Tip: Just when you thought Suzuki had run out of steam, along comes this season. He appears to have a second wind with 3,000 hits in reach. Suzuki has most of his value in DFS formats because he does not play a regular position weekly.

Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki leading off vs. Twins

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 13:02:20 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki is playing right field and leading off against Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana Thursday, June 9.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki offers limited upside, but with a .330 batting average and a .387 on-base percentage, there is a nice floor for daily contests. Suzuki is receiving the boost in playing time this series because of Miami's ability to use a designated hitter, so continue to limit your exposure to Suzuki to cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. He is just 29 hits shy of joining the 3,000-hit club, too.

Marlins | Ichiro inches closer to milestone

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 23:17:05 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki posed three singles with a run scored and RBI Wednesday, June 8, against the Minnesota Twins to move within 29 hits of 3,000 for his major league career.

Fantasy Tip: Ichiro doesn't get to play regularly anymore, but he remains productive, hitting .330 overall on the season. He remains useful as a No. 5 outfielder in NL-only fantasy formats and is worth using in DFS when he draws starts.
