Red Sox | Big Papi victimizes Yanks again

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 23:07:56 -0700

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz hit his 49th career home run against the New York Yankees Saturday, April 30. He finished 2-for-3 with the solo homer and a walk.

Fantasy Tip: Big Papi entered the series with just three homers on the season, but he has two against New York pitching over the past two days. He remains a must-start fantasy option across all formats, as he is hitting .321 with 19 RBIs to date.

Red Sox | David Ortiz passes two HOFers

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 21:36:54 -0700

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz collected three doubles with two runs scored and two RBIs Wednesday, April 27, against the Atlanta Braves. On his second double he passed Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Jimmie Foxx, and with his third double he tied George Brett with 1,119 extra-base hits in his career.

Fantasy Tip: Big Papi has picked up the pace, posting multi-hit games in four of his past seven outings to push his average from .275 to .313 since April 19.

Red Sox | David Ortiz back in DH role

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 12:19:24 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is back in the starting lineup and is hitting cleanup against Atlanta Braves SP Bud Norris Wednesday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: After a two-game absence in a National League park, Big Papi is back in there with the series against the Braves moving to Fenway Park. Against Norris, Ortiz is a great play in all fantasy formats. Get him back into your lineups.

Red Sox | David Ortiz out Tuesday

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 13:01:57 -0700

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, April 26, against the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Tip: The game is in a National League ballpark, which means no designated hitter. David Price has the ninth spot as the pitcher. Take Ortiz out of your roster accordingly. This is the final game of the series, so Ortiz should be back in the lineup after Tuesday.

Red Sox | David Ortiz likely out Tuesday

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 14:22:02 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz (rest) "likely" won't be in the lineup again Tuesday, April 26, against the Atlanta Braves, according to manager John Farrell. That would give him back-to-back days off at Turner Field.

Fantasy Tip: Not much of a surprise here, as the Red Sox are journeying to a National League park to begin the new week, which puts Ortiz on the bench with no designated hitter needed. With him out of the lineup, Travis Shaw looks like a solid play for daily fantasy. He's taking Big Papi's spot batting cleanup on Monday and could return terrific value.

Red Sox | No David Ortiz Monday

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 13:41:31 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup in a National League park Monday, April 25. 3B Travis Shaw moves over to first base and is hitting cleanup, while 2B Josh Rutledge draws the start at the hot corner and is batting fifth against Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran.

Fantasy Tip: Ortiz may only start one game against Atlanta at first base during the series, so make sure to remove him from your lineups tonight. Shaw receives a slight daily boost hitting cleanup against a pitcher that has been shaky to begin the year. Rutledge is a deep sleeper option for daily formats with three hits in just five at-bats to start the year.

Red Sox | David Ortiz drives in three runs

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 22:25:23 -0700

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles with three RBIs Wednesday, April 20, against the Tampa Bay Rays. It was his 58th career multi-double game, most among active players.

Fantasy Tip: Ortiz faces many favorable matchups this week, but Thursday's game might not be one of them. He'll face Jake Odorizzi, and he is 3-for-18 (.167) with a double, no homers, just one RBI and a .538 OPS against Odorizzi in his career. Avoid him for DFS purposes.

Red Sox | David Ortiz out of lineup

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 06:55:21 -0700

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz is out of the lineup Monday, April 18, against a left-handed starter. 3B Josh Rutledge is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: It's Rutledge's first action of the season against lefty J.A. Happ. His splits the last three years are pretty identical. Rutledge has power, but he hasn't shown much at the major league level to warrant the DFS flyer.

Red Sox | David Ortiz, Jackie Bradley Jr. return

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 08:09:40 -0700

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz and OF Jackie Bradley Jr. are back in the lineup versus Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada Sunday, April 10, batting fourth and ninth, respectively.

Fantasy Tip: Ortiz and Bradley were both rested Saturday, April 9, because the team was facing knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. Big Papi is batting .385 with two home runs and five RBIs through 13 at-bats, while Bradley is 2-for-10 at the plate this year.

Red Sox | David Ortiz not in lineup

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 07:07:42 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey Saturday, April 9. 1B Hanley Ramirez will serve as the designated hitter Saturday.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez has recorded two hits in each of his first three games and has two RBI during that span. He should be a starter in all mixed leagues and could be used in daily fantasy leagues.
