|Red Sox | David Ortiz going to ride pine|
Thu, 28 May 2015 13:50:57 -0700
Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz went 1-for-12 during the recent three-game series against the Minnesota Twins, and he will receive a few games off in an attempt to find his swing, according to manager John Farrell. His batting average is just .212, and he has only six home runs and 21 RBIs this season with a .679 OPS.
Fantasy Tip: The 39-year-old slugger could finally be beginning his decline. Make sure to avoid Ortiz ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats until he returns to the lineup, and FantasyScore players would be wise to wait for him to show a little pop at the dish before inserting him into their lineups. Seasonal owners could test the trade waters to see if Ortiz's name value can garner a plus-return.

|Red Sox | David Ortiz hitting fifth|
Tue, 26 May 2015 15:54:01 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is hitting just .221 for the season, but he does have six home runs and 18 RBI. With four other players now batting ahead of him, Ortiz will have twice the opportunity to drive in runs, and he should be considered against Twins starter Mike Pelfrey.

|Red Sox | David Ortiz dropped in order|
Tue, 26 May 2015 13:58:49 -0700
Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz, who has a slash line of .207/.286/.329 in May, was dropped to fifth in the batting order Tuesday, May 26. OF Hanley Ramirez, who has a slash line of .230/.278/.270 in May, will move up to cleanup.
Fantasy Tip: It won't change Ortiz's ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) drastically, but it's another reminder that he's hitting just .221 (34-for-154) with six home runs and 18 RBI on the season. He remains a weaker option at FantasyScore until we see him break out of his funk.

|Red Sox | David Ortiz breaks HR drought|
Sun, 17 May 2015 05:14:58 -0700
Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz broke a home run drought Saturday, May 16, that lasted 74 at-bats. It was the sixth longest home run drought in Ortiz's Red Sox career. Red Sox hitting coach Chili Davis insists Ortiz isn't done and that Ortiz's bat speed is still there.
Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) had just five extra-base hits over that extended span. For the second straight year, Ortiz's BABIP is in the .250 range, roughly 50 points below his career average. The most positive sign is that Ortiz's ISO is nearly 100 points below the career mark, indicating the power surge is on the horizon.

|Red Sox | David Ortiz can't hit lefties|
Thu, 14 May 2015 21:27:43 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Oritz ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has been better against right-handed pitchers throughout his career, but he has typically maintained useful numbers against lefties. That has not been the case in 2015, and he needs to be avoided at FantasyScore when facing a left-handed starter.

|Red Sox | David Ortiz slumping hard|
Wed, 13 May 2015 18:08:03 -0700
Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz struggled on the team's road trip, going 3-for-20 (.150), including 2-for-13 in the series against the Oakland Athletics which wrapped up Wednesday, May 13. However, he said he is beginning to feel right at the plate after missing three games last week due to a left shoulder sprain. "Getting there," he said. "I'm getting my timing, working on my timing."
Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players might want to avoid Big Papi ($4,900; 9.8% of cap) until he starts to show a little more consistency.

|Red Sox | Boston terrible against southpaws|
Wed, 13 May 2015 11:36:09 -0700
The Boston Red Sox are hitting a meager .188 against left-handed pitchers this year, which is dead last in all of baseball, and they have a .638 OPS (ranked 26th) against lefties. OF Hanley Ramirez is about the only hitter on the team succeeded against lefties, going 8-for-24 (.333) with four home runs. 1B Mike Napoli is .240 against lefties this year, while SS Xander Bogaerts is 5-for-25 with zero RBI. DH David Ortiz has five hits in 34 at-bats, and 3B Pablo Sandoval is just 2-for-34 batting from the right side as a switch hitter. The Red Sox will face three left-handed pitchers when they face off against the Seattle Mariners this weekend.
Fantasy Tip: You'll obviously want to avoid most Red Sox players when they face left-handed hurlers, at least for the foreseeable future. Also, all lefty pitchers should at least be considered at FantasyScore when facing Boston, beginning with Roenis Elias ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) as a sleeper pick tomorrow.

|Red Sox | David Ortiz loses appeal|
Fri, 08 May 2015 12:22:13 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) will miss only one game and should be back in the starting lineup Saturday, May 9. Ortiz has had a solid start to the season and should be an option for owners on FantasyScore when he is playing.

|Red Sox | David Ortiz getting rest day|
Sun, 26 Apr 2015 07:31:15 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has struggled to begin the 2015 season, hitting just .194, although he has managed to hit four home runs. Holt ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) becomes an excellent FantasyScore play as he has begun the season hitting .424 with a home run and a stolen base.

|Red Sox | David Ortiz suspended one game|
Tue, 21 Apr 2015 13:14:29 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) will be able to play while he's appealing his suspension. He's facing Tampa Bay Rays starter Chris Archer Tuesday night, who Ortiz is 6-for-17 off of with a home run in his career. Ortiz makes an acceptable FantasyScore option this evening.
