Cardinals | Carson Palmer expected to rebound

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 19:14:00 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) is expected to bounce back to lead the team in 2016, general manager Steve Keim said in a radio interview Monday, Jan. 25. "There is nobody I respect and appreciate more than Carson Palmer," Keim said. "In a league full of teams who are looking for a quarterback, I'm certainly proud he's our guy."

Fantasy Tip: Palmer got off to a huge start to the season, throwing for 27 touchdowns with seven 300-yard games in his first 10 outings. However, he tailed off slightly in the final six regular season games and two playoff outings, tossing three touchdowns just once while hitting the 300-yard mark just three times in his final eight starts. Still, he has plenty of high-end receivers to make him a fantasy stud again in 2016.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer will let finger heal

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 14:25:51 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) won't be playing in the Pro Bowl in order to let his injured finger heal. He will not need surgery, however. Head coach Bruce Arians said that he didn't think the finger was an issue against the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship, but added that Palmer probably should not have played in Week 17 of the regular season because of the finger.

Fantasy Tip: The extra week of rest may or may not have made much of a difference, but the Cardinals did lose by 34 points. Unfortunately, Palmer saved his worst game of the season for the most important game of the season. He'll have plenty of time to get that finger back to full strength before offseason activities. As long as he's at full health, Palmer is a starting fantasy quarterback.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer completed 23 of 40 passes for 235 yards, a touchdown and four interceptions in a 49-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Although his season ended on a sour note, Palmer showed that he can still be a solid QB1 when healthy.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer has finger issue

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 11:45:20 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer's (finger) injured finger has been more of an issue than he's let on, although the finger did look better in practice this week.

Fantasy Tip: The finger shouldn't be too much of a hindrance to Palmer, but he does face a tough test in the Carolina Panthers. Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) hasn't thrown for more than 300 yards in his last three games, so don't expect gaudy numbers from the veteran quarterback, but he's still worth a start in your FantasyScore lineups.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer should be on the field

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 13:35:00 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 22, and is listed as probable for the NFC Championship game against the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) probably will not be limited by his finger injury and will see his normal amount of passes during the game. He will be facing a tough Panthers defense but could still be a decent option on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer good on the road

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 10:30:24 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer led the league in points per game (32.8), yards per game (426.3) and passing yards per game (292.8) on the road this year. He's also generated the highest passer rating (121.2) in the second half of games this year, although he's really struggled in the first half of the last two games.

Fantasy Tip: Outside of Josh Norman, the Carolina Panthers secondary is suspect, and Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) will expose them with his awesome receiving corps if Carolina's front line doesn't pressure him much. Palmer is a good option for daily gamers in the NFC Championship game, and many players might look away after a disappointing last two games for the veteran QB.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer good at deep ball

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 16:04:05 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer had the third-most completions in the league this year of 20 yards or deeper down the field.

Fantasy Tip: After shutdown corner Josh Norman, the Carolina Panthers are a little weak in the secondary, so Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) could certainly thrive given the quality of his receivers. He's not the sexy pick this weekend, but he could bring you a win on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Full practice for Carson Palmer

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 13:56:05 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) participated fully in practice Thursday, Jan. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) does have a tough test against the Carolina Panthers, but he's capable of succeeding versus anyone, as he's proven all season. Don't overlook him despite a less than favorable matchup and a hefty price tag.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer looks to declaw Cats

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 19:14:42 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer will face the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. He missed last season's playoff loss in Charlotte due to injury. The Panthers were middling against the pass, ranking 11th in the NFL by allowing 234.5 yards per game with 21 touchdowns. They also gave up 53 pass plays of 20 or more yards, and 10 pass plays of 40 or more yards.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) is certain to rack up the passing yardage this week, win or lose, but don't look for more than a touchdown or two. Still, he might not be a terrible FantasyScore play because the Panthers have been susceptible to the big play at times despite their overall success.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer fully practices

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 13:58:29 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a tough matchup, Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) and the Cardinals are capable of finding success in the passing game against any defense. He has three quality wide receivers and a solid pass-catching running back. The price may be a put off, but he's still worth starting.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer was conservative

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 10:33:57 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) was conservative while picking plays for the early part of the divisional round game against the Green Bay Packers, but head coach Bruce Arians said the Cardinals will get back to being themselves in the NFC Championship. "He picked a lot of shorter completions early instead of going for them like we normally do," Arians said. "I think that was part of 'I don't want to screw this up.'" Arians also reiterated that Palmer's right finger injury is not a problem.

Fantasy Tip: It's no secret that the Carolina Panthers are a tough matchup on defense, but Russell Wilson was able to gash them for big yardage in a failed second-half comeback attempt in the divisional round. Palmer's task won't be easy, but he certainly has the weapons on offense to put up big numbers.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer good to go

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 11:24:01 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) practiced in full all week and is probable to face the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round Saturday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($9,200, 18.4% of cap) is probably one of the safest daily quarterbacks this weekend, and he's definitely worth paying up for against a Packers secondary that can be beat. The Cardinals play much better at home and possess one of the most dynamic offenses in the league.

Cardinals | Full practice for Carson Palmer

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 15:29:45 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) participated fully in practice Thursday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($9,200, 18.4% of cap) will be on the field this weekend barring any setbacks. The Green Bay Packers were solid defensively against quarterbacks in 2015, but Palmer has a lot of weapons in his arsenal and is still a good play on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer lacks playoff experience

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 17:12:55 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer is 0-2 with a 51.4% completion rate, one touchdown, one interception and a passer rating of just 66.5 in his career in the playoffs, and both of those games came with the Cincinnati Bengals. He had just one pass attempt in 2005 before injuring his knee.

Fantasy Tip: Throw out Palmer's ($9,200, 18.4% of cap) limited postseason experience. He's a much more mature quarterback now in a much different offense with plenty of playmakers. The Green Bay Packers held their own against quarterbacks this year, but Palmer is at another level and is worth paying up for on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer has full practice

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 13:57:42 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($9,200, 18.4% of cap) should be good to go for the divisional matchup against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers were tough defensively versus quarterbacks in 2015, but Palmer has a lot of weapons in his arsenal. He's still a good play on FantasyScore despite a tougher matchup and a hefty price tag.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer has dislocated finger

Wed, 06 Jan 2016 10:53:28 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) is dealing with a dislocated finger, but he said it feels fine.

Fantasy Tip: The good news for Palmer and the Cardinals is they have a week off to rest. Palmer should be good to go for the divisional round and should continue to be one of the more attractive quarterback options on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer out for second half

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 15:38:42 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer will not return for the second half in the Week 17 game against the Seattle Seahawks. QB Drew Stanton replaced him.

Fantasy Tip: The game was out of hand, and Palmer was able to set the team's single-season passing yardage record before departing. Still, fantasy owners who took the chance on Palmer after his dominant performance against Green Bay last week are likely fuming.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer listed as probable

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 18:04:06 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 1, and is listed as probable for the Week 17 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) has played very well this season and has recorded seven touchdowns in his last four games. He has also thrown for at least 265 yards in each of his last 10 games. Palmer could be a solid starting option in most leagues even though he is dealing with a tough Seahawks defense.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer still limited

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 18:41:55 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Don't let the matchup with Seattle scare you away from Palmer ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) at FantasyScore. He threw for 363 yards, three scores and an interception on the road against the Seahawks earlier this year, so he is definitely worth starting.

Cardinals | Arizona has more TDs than punts

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 12:24:13 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer and the rest of the Cardinals are the only team in the NFL this year with more touchdowns (57) than punts (55), with a +2 differential. The next highest differential is -14 held by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Arizona's touchdown to punt differential is +16 ahead of Pittsburgh and Carolina. That's one testament to how successful they have been this season, especially on offense. They have a tough test against the Seattle Seahawks in their final tilt of the season this week. The Seahawks are a top-three fantasy defense against quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer should play

Fri, 25 Dec 2015 16:52:17 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 25, and is listed as probable for the Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) should not be limited during the game and likely will throw often during the game. Palmer will be facing a Packers defense that is in the middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks, so he should be a solid starting option against most opponents.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer limited again

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 13:26:51 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: The limited status shouldn't be a big concern for those wanting/needing to start Palmer this week. Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) should still be able to play versus the Green Bay Packers as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks. As usual, consider him a high-end QB1.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals want to be careful with their star quarterback. They're not taking any unnecessary risks by pushing him too hard. Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) should still be able to play in Week 16 versus the Green Bay Packers as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks. As usual, consider him a high-end QB1.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) completed 20 of 32 pass attempts for 274 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 15 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He left briefly with an index finger injury on his throwing hand, but was able to return.

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 18:47:44 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd is coming down with more "50-50" balls than in previous seasons, according to head coach Bruce Arians, and QB Carson Palmer said he is more willing to take chances to Floyd.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has been on a tear since recovering from a hamstring issue, topping 100 yards in four of his last five games. He has a high ceiling again in Week 15 against a porous Philadelphia secondary.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer is a legitimate QB1 that is having an MVP-caliber season. Floyd is becoming one of Palmer's favorite targets in the passing game right alongside Larry Fitzgerald. Consider Floyd a pretty safe fantasy receiver down the stretch as long as he stays healthy.

Fantasy Tip: It wasn't all rosy, as Palmer lost a pair of fumbles. It appears to be an unfavorable matchup, but Palmer had another strong game. He is a great FantasyScore play regardless of the competition, as he has so many weapons.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer playing at high level

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 10:19:09 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer has completely almost 65% of his passes with 47 touchdowns and just 17 interceptions in his last 23 starts, and the Cardinals have gone 19-4 in those games.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) has become a reliable QB1 this year as he's stayed healthy. In daily formats this week, however, you'll want to avoid paying that high price against a Seattle Seahawks team that gives up the third-fewest fantasy points (17.2) to quarterbacks per game.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer and the rest of Arizona's offense are second in the NFL in points per game (32.9), first in touchdowns (32), first in touchdown differential (+16) and second in point differential (+110).

Fantasy Tip: Palmer, Chris Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald have been the catalysts for an offensive revival in Arizona. The key has been the good health of Palmer. That being said, they all have a tough matchup against a Seattle Seahawks defense that has only allowed six passing touchdowns this year.

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 17:49:04 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer and the rest of the Arizona offense have produced six games of at least 400 yards in 2015. From 2010 to 2014, the Cardinals amassed the same number of 400-plus yard games.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer is having one of the best seasons of his career, and the running game, anchored by Chris Johnson, has really taken off, too. As long as the Cardinals stay healthy, they'll be one of the more productive offenses in the NFL this season.

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 16:21:30 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer leads the NFL with a QBR of 85 and is tied for touchdown passes with New England Patriots QB Tom Brady with 20 on the year. No Cardinals quarterback has ever thrown more than 30 touchdowns in a single season.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer is well on his way to breaking the franchise record in 2015. As long as he can stay healthy, there appears to be no slowing him down with a bevvy of aerial weapons at his disposal in Arizona. He remains a firm QB1 for fantasy owners.

He has 16 passing touchdowns through seven games and he has thrown for over 2,000 yards already. As long as he remains healthy he is a must-start FantasyScore option, especially at home.

Sat, 24 Oct 2015 18:31:32 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) has thrown at least two touchdowns in four of the first five games this season and at least 300 yards in three of the games. Palmer will be facing a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has struggled against passing teams this season. Owners should consider Palmer a starting option in all leagues.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer is wearing his knee brace again after going without it in Week 5. Palmer said he forgot to pack the knee brace last week, but he still threw three touchdowns without it.

Fantasy Tip: Don't underestimate the impact a knee brace can have on a veteran quarterback who's been through two ACL tears. Palmer ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) has been extremely consistent this year and is worth another start against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week.

Cardinals | Arizona offensive weapons thriving

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 15:13:13 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald leads the league in touchdown catches (five) and is third in receiving yards (432) through four games this year. QB Carson Palmer is second in touchdown passes (10) to Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (11). RB Chris Johnson is ranked fifth in the NFL with 302 rushing yards, and he's averaging 4.4 yards per carry.

Fantasy Tip: The Detroit Lions, Arizona's Week 5 opponent, is allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks (23.6) and seventh-most point-per-reception points to receivers (40.7) per game this year, making Palmer ($8,200, 16.4% of cap) and Fitzgerald ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) fine daily picks this weekend. Johnson's ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) outlook is a little more cloudy with Andre Ellington possibly returning.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) and Larry Fitzgerald ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) are every-week starters at this point. John Brown ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) should still be regarded as a WR3. Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer completed 17 of his 24 passes for 185 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in the Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) said during training camp and the preseason that he has felt better than he has in years, and the results have showed early on. For FantasyScore players he has been a stud at a lesser price than some of the bigger names. He could shine again in Week 3 against a San Francisco 49ers pass defense which was pounded in Week 2 by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer could shine in Week 2

Sat, 19 Sep 2015 19:32:46 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer faces the Chicago Bears in Week 2, and since the start of last season, the Bears are allowing an average of 293 passing yards and 2.7 passing touchdowns per game.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) should be able to pick apart a shaky Chicago defense, and if you don't want to pay up for one of the elite quarterbacks at FantasyScore, Palmer should make a great alternative.

Cardinals | Big game for Carson Palmer

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 18:49:37 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer completed 19 of 32 passes for 307 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-19 win over the New Orleans Saints Sunday, Sept. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) appeared fully recovered from the knee injury that ended his season a year ago, and he took advantage of a friendly matchup against a poor New Orleans defense. The Cardinals have another friendly matchup in Week 2 against the Bears, so Palmer should make a solid option at FantasyScore once again.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer confident

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 18:25:40 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer's confidence is back following the season-ending knee injury he suffered last year, according to WR Michael Floyd. "If you mess up on the practice field he'll tell you exactly how stuff should be on the film," Floyd said. "Mentally, I think he's really ready and prepared for this season."

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) is healthy, and he draws a friendly matchup in Week 1 against a New Orleans defense that ranked in bottom third of the league against the pass last year, and he is worth considering if you don't want to pay top dollar for a quarterback at FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer sacked three times

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 20:50:39 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer was sacked three times and finished 8-for-22 passing for 103 yards and two interceptions in a preseason game against the Oakland Raiders Sunday, Aug. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer was unable to have much success throwing while under constant pressure from the Oakland defense. He has solid receivers to work with, but suspect offensive line play will likely limit him to being a mid-level QB2.
