Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is listed as probable for Week 7.

Cardinals | Contract talks begin for Carson Palmer

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 17:25:41 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer's agent, David Dunn, and the team have opened contract negotiations. "I won't get into specific points of the negotiations but we've had some dialogue with Dave Dunn," Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said. "He (Palmer) has done a great job for us."

Fantasy Tip: Palmer tossed two touchdowns last week in his first start since returning from a nerve injury in his shoulder, and with a matchup against the winless Oakland Raiders on tap in Week 7, he is worth considering at FantasyScore. He will take up 14.6% of the cap ($7,300).

Cardinals | Carson Palmer limited in practice

Wed, 15 Oct 2014 19:17:25 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Oct. 15, due to his right shoulder ailment.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer apparently made it through his Week 6 return last week with no setbacks, but check back Friday just to make sure he is still on target to play again in Week 7. At just $7,300 or 14.6 percent of the cap in FantasyScore, he is a decent mid-level option.

Wed, 15 Oct 2014 12:30:26 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 15. Head coach Bruce Arians said Palmer's arm is still not 100 percent but is more than serviceable.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer played well in his return in Week 6 and should be able to play in Week 7. Owners looking to save a little money at quarterback could consider using Palmer on FantasyScore at $7,300.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer needs practice reps

Tue, 14 Oct 2014 09:04:51 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) said his right shoulder felt great Monday, Oct. 13, but he needs as many repetitions in practice this week as possible heading into Week 7 against the Oakland Raiders. He won't throw Wednesday, Oct. 15, but head coach Bruce Arians said the plan is for him to do "hopefully everything" in practice. Palmer is unsure how long it'll take to regain full strength in his arm. "It's going to take a while. It's going to take at least a week of throwing, I would think. It's kind of what I'm expecting to really get it back. It just needs to get back in shape. It's just out of shape. It's like sitting on the couch after training camp -- you have a knee issue or high ankle sprain, you just get out of shape, you get out of the football shape. My arm's out of throwing shape, and that'll come back," Palmer said.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer has a fine matchup against the Raiders this week. He'll cost you $7,300 at FantasyScore in Week 7. Consider using him if you want to save a little cash at the quarterback position.

Cardinals | Cards not concerned about Carson Palmer

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 17:00:54 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) said the pain subsided enough for him to get a good night's rest after the team's Week 6 win Sunday, Oct. 12, and head coach Bruce Arians said Palmer's nerve in his right shoulder didn't regress after playing against the Washington Redskins. "I was concerned until I saw him today," Arians said. "And then now he feels great, so we should just get better and better and just get stronger." Arians is hopeful that Palmer will take part in all practices this week.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Palmer's nerve doesn't have any setbacks, he'll remain a nice stream option at quarterback moving forward, based on matchups. In Week 7, he has another nice matchup against the Oakland Raiders.

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 12:31:13 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) is feeling good physically following the team's Week 6 win against the Washington Redskins. Palmer had not started since Week 1 after suffering a shoulder injury.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer active

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 12:03:15 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) is active for the team's Week 6 game.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer may be the starting quarterback for the team, but his role is not known at this point. Owners should probably avoid using Palmer this week even if he starts, because he could be limited by his shoulder.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer likely to play

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 07:33:11 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) is likely to play Sunday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($7,100; 14.2% of your cap) isn't a real wise buy, considering rust is a distinct possibility. There are better options on FantasyScore in his price range.

Cardinals | Cardinals QB a game-time decision?

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 13:47:09 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) was throwing at around 80 percent and some decent velocity Friday, Oct. 10, but head coach Bruce Arians said all three quarterbacks could be active in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins. A decision on who will start might not come until around game time, and it'll depend on health. Both Palmer and QB Drew Stanton (concussion) were limited Friday in practice and are questionable for Sunday, Oct. 12. Stanton has yet to take or pass his concussion test.

Fantasy Tip: It's best to avoid the Cardinals quarterback situation entirely at FantasyScore. If Logan Thomas ends up starting, that hurts all of the Arizona receivers.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer limited

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 14:53:25 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Palmer is able to play he's not worth the risk with how much time he's missed. It's best to wait a week or two.

Cardinals | Limited practice for Carson Palmer

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 17:05:08 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) was listed as having limited participation in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Drew Stanton, who has filled in for Palmer the past three games, also was limited, so rookie Logan Thomas received first-team snaps in practice. Neither of the trio is particularly attractive in FantasyScore in Week 6.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton limited

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 13:28:38 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QBs Carson Palmer (shoulder) and Drew Stanton (concussion) will both be limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8. Stanton isn't fully cleared from his concussion but can do some throwing.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer and Stanton seem very questionable for Week 6 against the Washington Redskins. Neither would be smart plays at FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer seeing improvement

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 11:49:34 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) had "pretty significant" improvement in his throwing shoulder Monday, Oct. 6. However, it's still undetermined if Palmer can play in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins. Palmer will visit Dr. Greg Roskopf again Friday, Oct. 10, for another evaluation. A palpation technique was used to stimulate the sensory receptors in his shoulder, and the communication between the muscles and the nervous system has ignited the nerve. Palmer threw 40 to 50 passes Tuesday, Oct. 7, and he has yet to suffer a setback. "It's a very delicate line," Roskopf said. "If he exceeds his tolerance level at the time, then it almost puts it back to sleep. It shuts it down again."

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to say if Palmer will play this weekend, and with an afternoon game on the slate, it's not wise to invest $7,100 (14.2% of cap) on him at FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer to practice?

Tue, 07 Oct 2014 17:56:27 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) could practice as soon as Thursday, Oct. 9, if his shoulder responds well after throwing Tuesday, Oct. 7, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer's status for Week 6 depends on whether or not he can practice in full in the comings day, but if he is able to suit up, he could make a solid play at FantasyScore. His $7,100 salary (14.2% of cap) ranks 16th among quarterbacks, and he should put up big numbers against a Washington defense that has surrendered an average of 36.3 points per game during a three-game skid.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer needs full practice

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 13:24:04 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) will need to go through a full practice this week before returning to action in Week 6, according to head coach Bruce Arians. Palmer will cut down on individual drills so that he can focus on team work.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer is believed to be improving, but until we see him in a full practice this week, we shouldn't consider starting him in daily leagues against the Washington Redskins. Even if Palmer does start, it might be wise to look elsewhere.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer making progress?

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 09:35:57 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) remained in Denver overnight Sunday, Oct. 5, to receive treatment on his right shoulder. He made around 20 throws Sunday before the game and felt that he made progress.

Fantasy Tip: We won't have an idea of whether Palmer can return in Week 6 to face the Washington Redskins until later this week. As of now, it looks iffy, at best, that Palmer will return.

Cardinals | Drew Stanton has concussion

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 09:30:16 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (concussion) suffered a concussion in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos. Stanton will go through the league's concussion protocol this week. The team may have to turn to QB Logan Thomas in Week 6 with QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) suffering from a nerve injury in his right shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton's chances of returning to face the Washington Redskins aren't good, and the timetable on Palmer's return is unknown. If Thomas has to start in Week 6, you'll need to expect less from all of Arizona's receiving options.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer back next week?

Sun, 05 Oct 2014 09:20:57 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) met with Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning's nerve specialist and is optimistic that the problem has been fixed. Palmer expects to be able to return in Week 6 or Week 7 at the latest.

Fantasy Tip: Although Palmer is optimistic, Arizona is not going to rush him back. He still needs to test his shoulder in a full week of practices and prove he is ready to play before fantasy owners should consider using him at FantasyScore.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 3, and has been ruled out for Week 5.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer won't need surgery

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 09:24:43 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder), who was diagnosed with an axillary nerve contusion in his right shoulder, will not need surgery, since his shoulder is structurally sound. "So, we're just going to continue the same rehab process and continue working at it and trying at it and this thing will come back and I'll be ready to go," Palmer said. Head coach Bruce Arians said Palmer has only thrown at a distance of 30 to 40 yards so far. It doesn't look like Palmer will be healthy enough to be active in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos as the backup to QB Drew Stanton.

Fantasy Tip: Basically, there is no timetable for Palmer to return to the starting job. He's on a week-to-week basis. Without Palmer behind center again this weekend against the Broncos, Stanton will lead the way, and he could be a sleeper QB option at FantasyScore if the Broncos go up big early and force the Cards to throw often.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer injury a rare one

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 15:29:20 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) has a rare shoulder injury, according to doctors. The nerve damage he has is usually seen in victims of car accidents and is reportedly a "one in 100,000" injury.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds scary, but Palmer could still return to start Week 6, though, his status is worth keeping tabs on until then. Drew Stanton is a capable backup, but not exactly starting fantasy material.

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 15:16:44 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) did not practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer will have to go through a full workout tomorrow to convince the team that he's healthy enough to start against the Denver Broncos. The odds aren't in Palmer's favor. It looks like Drew Stanton will get the nod in the Mile High City.

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 13:47:49 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) said his shoulder injury is not season or career-threatening, according to a specialist.

Cardinals | IR not an option for Carson Palmer yet

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 13:44:31 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) is dealing with a nerve injury in his throwing shoulder, but the team isn't considering putting him on the short-term Reserve/Injured list just yet, according to a league source. Palmer's status for the Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos is uncertain, but it seems unlikely that he'll play. "We need to see two good days or a day and a half of his full-speed delivery and not a soft toss," head coach Bruce Arians said. "He's got to be back to full tilt."

Fantasy Tip: Palmer must return to a full practice tomorrow to have a chance to play against the Broncos this weekend. That doesn't seem like it'll happen, setting Drew Stanton up for another start. Stanton is a sleeper option at FantasyScore.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) has been diagnosed with an axillary nerve contusion in his shoulder but should be able to continue his current rehab program. There is a chance that Palmer could be the backup quarterback for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Drew Stanton will get another start in place of Palmer. Stanton costs $5,000 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to consider spending some extra money for a better option.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer not ruled out

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 15:29:10 -0700

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) isn't being ruled out for Week 5 against the Denver Broncos by head coach Bruce Arians. Arians said Palmer is doubtful to return to practice Thursday, Oct. 2, but if he can return Friday, Oct. 3, there's a chance he can start against the Broncos. If Palmer doesn't practice Friday, QB Drew Stanton would receive his third straight start. After throwing for two days last week, Palmer's shoulder regressed. The team is treating his injury week-to-week, and the team isn't close to considering putting him on the short-term Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer is a very dicey FantasyScore option this weekend. Drew Stanton could surprise against Denver's secondary if you're looking to save money for other positions.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer has setback

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 13:08:36 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) was excused from practice Wednesday, Oct. 1, in order to see another specialist regarding the nerve issue in his shoulder, according to head coach Bruce Arians. "He threw a bunch last Thursday and Friday and then regressed," Arians said.

Fantasy Tip: It's not looking good for Palmer to return in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos. That means Drew Stanton will likely receive another start. Stanton ($5,000) is cheap at FantasyScore, and although the Broncos have been vulnerable through the air, better options are out there.

Tue, 30 Sep 2014 06:54:01 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) said the nerve in his shoulder hasn't progressed as much as he'd hoped, but he thinks he could prove capable of starting.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer ($7,100; 14.2% of your cap) is reasonably priced on FantasyScore this week if he's healthy. However, rushing him back to play in the thin air in Denver may not happen.

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 13:14:59 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer's (shoulder) status for Week 5 will depend on if he is able to participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 1, and Thursday, Oct. 2, according to head coach Bruce Arians. Palmer probably will play if he is able to practice Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor his practice participation this week, but there is no guarantee he will be able to play. Owners probably should avoid using Palmer until he has recovered from his injury. Drew Stanton would start if Palmer misses the game, but owners probably have better options to use.

If Palmer can't play, QB Logan Thomas will serve as the backup to Stanton. Palmer has made progress this week, but not enough to start. Head coach Bruce Arians said Palmer still can't throw.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer wasn't close to playing

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 10:35:41 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) said he wasn't close to playing in Week 2 against the New York Giants. He described his injury as a nerve in his right shoulder that is in deep sleep. Palmer suffered the injury in Week 1 when he went down on a running play, and he's not sure when he'll be able to return. "They said my shoulder was stretched out and I landed on the nerve, shut the nerve down," Palmer said. "It's just one of those things you've just go to wait and hope it wakes up. There's no, 'it needs 48 hours. It needs six days, it needs 12 days. You just don't know." QB Drew Stanton went 14-for-29 for 167 yards in his absence.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Palmer will be questionable to play again in Week 3. Keep tabs on his practice status, but be fully prepared to be without him again.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown if he will be limited, though. With QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) out, it's possible that Ellington and Jonathan Dwyer could receive more carries. Ellington is a solid RB2 at $5,500 (11% of your cap) on FantasyScore this week. Dwyer is more of a speculative flex play at $4,400 (8.8%) in Week 2, but he receives a boost in fantasy with Palmer out.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer inactive Sunday

Sun, 14 Sep 2014 08:34:20 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) is officially inactive Sunday, Sept. 14 for Week 2. QB Drew Stanton will start at quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer could be a week-to-week situation. Stanton doesn't have fantasy value at this time. However, he could serve as a bye-week fill-in if Palmer misses considerable time.
