Colts | Andre Johnson to have big role for Colts?

Sat, 23 May 2015 12:15:47 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson will play a significant part in the Colts' offense this season, according to ESPN.com's Mike Wells.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will be the unquestioned No. 2 receiver behind T.Y. Hilton and should plenty of opportunities to rebound from a disappointing 2014 campaign with the Houston Texans. If he can stay on the field, he's a viable WR2 candidate, especially with Andrew Luck now throwing to him.

Colts | Andre Johnson comfortable in offense

Thu, 21 May 2015 05:52:02 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson has made a "pretty seamless" transition to the offense, and he has a strong grasp of the playbook, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. Johnson took snaps with the starters during organized team activities Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: While Johnson is joining a crowded receiving corps, he still projects to have a significant role in the offense. Entering his 13th season, Johnson's production is on the decline, but catching passes from Andrew Luck won't hurt his stat line. At best, Johnson is a low-end No. 2 wide receiver in all formats. Still, there are no guarantees he is a starting fixture all season, and the touchdown totals haven't been helpful -- 12 scores over the past three seasons. All said, Johnson looks a lot better as your third receiver than your second, and he likely isn't worth reaching for entering his age-34 season.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins one of the best?

Sat, 09 May 2015 18:56:05 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins was called on the best receivers in the league by head coach Bill O'Brien, and the Texans were willing to part ways with WR Andre Johnson in part because the coaching staff believes Hopkins is ready to be the No. 1 option in the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins had a career year in 2014 despite a revolving door at the quarterback position, and as the unquestioned top target in 2015, he should at least be a solid WR2.

Colts | Andre Johnson joining teammates

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 21:17:10 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson said he plans on participating in an offseason program that begins Monday, April 20. "I'm excited about it," Johnson said. "I'll actually be heading to Indy tomorrow. I'm excited about the opportunity. Can't wait to get it going. It'll be different, but at the same time, still football. I'll go in, just learn what I need to learn, learn my new teammates and try to fit in and help win games."

Fantasy Tip: Johnson finds himself in a more pass-friendly offense with a much better quarterback throwing him the ball this season, and if he stays healthy, he should be a solid WR2.

Colts | Andre Johnson praised by HC

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 11:17:59 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson still has what it takes to be a successful wide receiver in the NFL, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. "He's a big body guy that can still separate," Pagano said. "He's got a big catch radius… It's very difficult to match up [against him]."

Fantasy Tip: T.Y. Hilton will still be the wide receiver to really target in 2015 fantasy drafts, but Johnson should still be able to provide low-end WR2 numbers and possibly better in point-per-reception leagues. The key for Johnson will be staying healthy.

Colts | Pagano not worried about Andre Johnson

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 14:27:18 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson has a backer in head coach Chuck Pagano, and Pagano is not concerned with Johnson's age. "Watched him on tape, everybody watched him on tape when we knew there was maybe a chance he'd come available. Saw a dominant guy, we know what he went through last season, the circumstances he went through, but he's a force to be reckoned with. You need to do everything you can to make sure he doesn't wreck the game," Pagano said.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson could easily surprise in PPR formats in 2015 now that he finally has a legitimate quarterback throwing him passes. Other owners may be skeptical of Johnson at his age, meaning he could come at a nice discount and serve as a solid No. 2 wideout.

Colts | Andre Johnson in good situation

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 06:39:46 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson will catch 90 passes in 2015, in the opinion of SI.com's Peter King.

Fantasy Tip: A 90-1,000-6 season would make him a WR2, at best, and he likely won't cost that on draft day. Johnson appears set for a promising 2015 campaign in an offense that has one of the best young QBs in the game at the helm.

Chargers | San Diego pursued Andre Johnson

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 13:48:55 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson received interest from the San Diego Chargers before he decided to sign with the Colts.

Fantasy Tip: It appears the Chargers may be looking to upgrade their wide receiver corps this offseason. Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd look to be the leading candidates for the starting wide receiver job entering next season, but the team could still add receivers. Allen should be considered a middle-round option that has upside, while Floyd is an option in the later rounds.

Colts | Andre Johnson to sign with Colts

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 13:10:20 -0700

Free-agent WR Andre Johnson (Texans) is reportedly signing with the Indianapolis Colts Wednesday, March 11.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson joins fellow college teammate Frank Gore as the latest offensive skill position to join Andrew Luck and the Colts. With both Reggie Wayne and Hakeem Nicks departing, Johnson should slot right in immediately across T.Y. Hilton. Despite declining production in 2014, Johnson could easily put up WR2 numbers in this offense.

NFL | Seven teams interested in Andre Johnson

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 09:37:38 -0700

Free-agent WR Andre Johnson (Texans) has seven teams interested in his services, and his first visit was to the Indianapolis Colts. Johnson is taking it one day at a time.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson appears to be taking his time while on the free-agent market, so we might not see him sign for a while. Despite taking a backseat to DeAndre Hopkins with the Houston Texans in 2014, Johnson still managed to catch 85 passes for 936 yards and three touchdowns. He may be aging and isn't a bona fide WR1 anymore, but he can still be very productive for fantasy football owners in the right situation. Expect Johnson to land with a team with championship aspirations that should put him in a spot that will keep him productive.

Dolphins | Miami could interest Andre Johnson

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 09:20:01 -0700

Free-agent WR Andre Johnson (Texans) could be an option for the Miami Dolphins. Three sources close to him said he's working out in Miami Tuesday, March 10, and his home and family are there.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson's steady hands would do wonders for Ryan Tannehill. However, they still need another receiver to complement him. He's at the stage of his career where he will be unlikely to thrive on an island by himself. He's a low-end WR2, but in this case, he's best-served as a WR3.

Colts | Andre Johnson visiting Indy

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 09:14:34 -0700

Free-agent WR Andre Johnson (Texans) is traveling to visit with the Indianapolis Colts Tuesday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts seem to be the perfect fit for Johnson in free agency after they are set to lose Hakeem Nicks and Reggie Wayne this offseason. Johnson's production has dropped in recent seasons as he ages, but in Indy's offense opposite T.Y. Hilton, Johnson could be a very productive fantasy force. Stay tuned.

Texans | Andre Johnson officially released

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 13:02:57 -0700

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson was officially released Monday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: This move isn't a huge surprise. There haven't been many rumors about potential suitors for Johnson yet, considering the release was just made official. He still has gas left in the tank, though, and will likely have more value in point-per-reception scoring leagues.

Texans | Andre Johnson to be cut

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 08:35:04 -0700

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson is expected to be released Monday, March 9, as the team failed to find a match for a trade.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson still has low-end WR2 value in the right offense.

Texans | Andre Johnson asks Texans to be cut

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 08:18:44 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson has asked the team to release him this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: While we cant gauge Johnson's fantasy value for 2015 until we know where he will call home, it is safe to say he should have some value moving forward in the right situation. Stay tuned to find out whats next for Johnson.

Jets | Andre Johnson not likely going to Jets

Tue, 03 Mar 2015 16:24:20 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson probably won't be pursued by the New York Jets after Johnson recently requested to be traded or released. Johnson, at age 33, wouldn't be the best fit for the Jets, who are relatively young at the wide receiver position. Additionally, Johnson would ideally want to play for a more realistic contender at this point in his career.

Fantasy Tip: We can't effectively gauge Johnson's fantasy value right now, but he wouldn't be of much value as a Jet. If Percy Harvin leaves this offseason, Eric Decker will be the receiver to own as far as the Jets are concerned.

Texans | Andre Johnson to have little trade value?

Tue, 03 Mar 2015 14:14:17 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson wants out of Houston, but the Texans may not get much in return for him if he is traded. The Texans already don't want to pay Johnson the $11.5 million he's due next season, which means he would likely be cut unless a team is willing to give up more than he is seemingly worth.

Fantasy Tip: There are still plenty of blanks to fill in regarding where Johnson will play in 2015, but it more than likely won't be in Houston. A change of scenery should be good for Johnson, however, considering how unhappy he had become with the Texans. Although, he may not have the same value he has had in previous seasons.

Texans | Andre Johnson asked to change roles

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 19:51:17 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson was asked to accept a reduced role, but he declined and asked to be traded or cut, according to people familiar with the situation.

Fantasy Tip: He had 85 catches and nearly 1,000 yards last year despite Houston's problems under center, and if Johnson lands with a contender, he will still be a worthwhile fantasy starter in 2015.

Texans | Andre Johnson finished in Houston

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 18:30:39 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson's agent has been given permission to seek a trade, and Johnson will be cut if a deal cannot be worked out. The Texans will save $8.825 million against the salary cap if Johnson is traded or cut.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson caught 85 passes for 936 yards last season, and depending on what team he plays for in 2015, he could re-establish himself as a steady fantasy contributor, especially in leagues that award points per catch.

Texans | Andre Johnson listed as probable

Fri, 26 Dec 2014 15:45:35 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 26, and is listed as probable for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has been up and down in terms of his production over the last few games and has only caught one touchdown in his last eight games. Johnson has caught at least six passes in eight games this season, which helps his value in point-per-reception leagues. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Johnson this week but should be able to find better options to use.

Texans | Andre Johnson willing to take pay cut

Fri, 26 Dec 2014 05:36:46 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson is willing to take a pay cut in the offseason from his $10.5 million salary and $16.1 million cap hit in 2015. "We understand it's a business and we're willing to deal with that," Johnson's advisor Andre Melton said. "And Andre doesn't mind having a pay cut."

Texans | Andre Johnson takes it easy

Thu, 25 Dec 2014 20:49:34 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (non-injury related) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson should be ready to roll against Jacksonville in Week 17, but FantasyScore owners should think twice before using him at FantasyScore. He has failed to reach 70 receiving yards in his last seven games, and he had just four catches for 17 yards against the Jaguars in Week 14.

Texans | Andre Johnson limited Wednesday

Wed, 24 Dec 2014 13:58:35 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (non-injury related) was listed as limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson joined Arian Foster as one of two veterans getting some rest ahead of the regular season finale with Jacksonville. He is expected to be good to go, and is a fine play in FantasyScore against the spotty Jaguars pass defense.

Texans | Andre Johnson reaches milestone

Sun, 21 Dec 2014 15:34:14 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson posted six catches for 65 yards in the Week 16 game against the Baltimore Ravens, giving him 1,002 receptions for his career. He is the 10th player in NFL history to accomplish the feat.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has had a turnstile at quarterback this season, but he has continued to produce. He is a solid FantasyScore option heading into Week 17 despite the fact the Texans are down to third-string QB Case Keenum.

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 13:09:59 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 19, and is probable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: After Johnson got in a full practice Thursday, he took the day off Friday. It may be nothing more than being cautious. It is good news that he is listed as probable, and will cost $6,000 in FantasyScore this week.

Texans | Andre Johnson puts in full practice

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 14:44:59 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion) practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 18, after being limited Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($6,000) has been cleared from the concussion protocol and is expecting to play this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens. Although Houston will have a new quarterback under center this week, Johnson has prior chemistry with both of them. He's not the safest wideout at FantasyScore, but he's the better bet than teammate DeAndre Hopkins ($6,600).

Texans | Andre Johnson will play in Week 16

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 09:38:12 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion) has cleared the league's concussion protocol and will play in the team's Week 16 game.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Johnson will be good to go for Week 16. The Texans quarterback situation should concern FantasyScore owners though, and there are probably safer options available to you this week.

Texans | Andre Johnson has connection with backups

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 13:43:02 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson has a pretty good connection with both QBs Thaddeus Lewis and Case Keenum, who will be battling for the start in Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens. Lewis was coached by head coach Bill O'Brien back in college, and Lewis also worked with Johnson in the offseason in South Florida. Keenum connected with Johnson for five touchdown passes last year, and Johnson likes Keenum's approach at the QB position.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($6,000) is recovering from a concussion, so he's not a sure thing to play against the Ravens, but if he does, we think he's a better FantasyScore option than DeAndre Hopkins ($6,600) because of Johnson's familiarity with both QBs. Either way, though, you're taking a big risk with them in your daily lineups.

Texans | Andre Johnson limited

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 13:39:35 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: After missing last week, Johnson ($6,000) is looking to return in Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens. However, if he returns, he'll be coming back to a very inexperienced quarterback at the helm, which doesn't inspire confidence for your FantasyScore lineup.

Texans | Andre Johnson should play this week

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 14:25:57 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion), who sat out in Week 15, is looking good and is expected to play in Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Fantasy Tip: It's good news for Johnson's fantasy owners. However, the bad news is that Ryan Fitzpatrick is out for the year with a broken leg, and the Texans will have to decide between Thaddeus Lewis or Case Keenum to start against the Ravens this week. The turmoil at QB makes Johnson a hard sell at FantasyScore for the rest of the season.

Texans | Andre Johnson will miss Week 15

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 09:18:13 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 15 game.

Fantasy Tip: DeAndre Hopkins likely will be the No. 1 receiver for the team this week. Hopkins costs $6,600 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to lower their expectations, because he is facing an Indianapolis Colts defense that has allowed the fifth fewest fantasy points to wide receivers this season.

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 06:52:20 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion) is expected to be out for Week 15 Sunday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: DeAndre Hopkins ($6,600; 13.2% of your cap) should receive a few more looks. However, the team is likely to rely heavily on Arian Foster. At $7,600, Foster is a solid play on FantasyScore.

Texans | Andre Johnson a game-time decision?

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 14:23:52 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion) is still going through the concussion protocol, and he's listed as questionable for Week 15 against the Indianapolis Colts. He was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 12, and head coach Bill O'Brien said a decision on whether Johnson will play this week will likely be made just before game time Sunday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: The good news is you can check back Sunday morning to see if Johnson is active before putting him into your FantasyScore lineups. If he's in there, he should be a decent play for $6,200. If he's not playing, DeAndre Hopkins ($6,600) will be Houston's go-to receiver and should receive plenty of targets to make him a good daily play, as well.

Texans | Andre Johnson doesn't practice

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 14:36:00 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson becomes more iffy as the week goes on, making him a risky play on FantasyScore at $6,200. If Johnson can't go, DeAndre Hopkins ($6,600) and DeVier Posey ($3,000) would have added value, though they don't have the most favorable matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

Texans | Andre Johnson remains day-to-day

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 14:25:10 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 10, and he remains day-to-day as he goes through the league's concussion protocol this week. Head coach Bill O'Brien would not say where Johnson stands in the concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($6,200) is highly questionable this week, and it'll depend on whether he can pass his concussion tests. That'll make him very risky at FantasyScore this week against the Indianapolis Colts. DeAndre Hopkins' ($6,600) value will increase significantly if Johhson doesn't play, but beware, the Colts have been solid against wideouts this season, and they would be able to devote extra attention to stopping Hopkins.

Texans | Andre Johnson day-to-day

Mon, 08 Dec 2014 12:56:04 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (concussion) is day-to-day after suffering a concussion in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. Johnson will need to pass the NFL's concussion protocol if he is to play this week.

Fantasy Tip: DeVier Posey would fill in for Johnson if he is unable to play and could make for a sneaky play on FantasyScore at a cheap price. Nevertheless, keep an eye on Johnson's progress during the week.

Sun, 07 Dec 2014 11:05:06 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson said his goal is to play 15 seasons all with the Texans. "I can't imagine how it would feel to put on someone else's uniform… I want things to work out here."

Fantasy Tip: This doesn't necessarily bode well for Johnson's future fantasy value, assuming he stays in town, but he's still one of the more consistent receivers in the league. This week he's a decent option against a less than mediocre Jacksonville Jaguars defense at $6,200 on FantasyScore.

Texans | Andre Johnson approaching milestone

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 13:23:46 -0800

Only Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (1,060), retired Colts WR Marvin Harrison (1,102) and retired Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward (1,000) have accomplished the feat with one team. If Johnson reaches the milestone in Week 14, he'll be the second fastest player to do so, one game behind Harrison's record of 166.

Texans | Andre Johnson a full participant

Fri, 28 Nov 2014 13:22:45 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (non-injury related) is probable for Week 13 after fully participating in practice Friday, Nov. 28.

Fantasy Tip: The Panthers have allowed the second most touchdowns to wide receivers this year (15), so Johnson could very well be worth his FantasyScore price of $6,400.

Texans | Andre Johnson takes part in practice

Thu, 27 Nov 2014 16:03:04 -0800

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson should be fine after receiving the day off Wednesday, Nov. 26. Johnson costs $6,400 on FantasyScore but may be a risky option, since the Tennessee Titans have played well against wide receivers this season.
