Barry Jackson, of the Miami Herald, reports CBS Sports has paired former NFL QB Rich Gannon with Craig Bolerjack on their No. 8 announcing team. Other CBS announcing teams: Jim Nantz-Phil Simms, Dick Enberg-Dan Dierdorf, Kevin Harlan-Randy Cross, Gus Johnson-Brent Jones, Ian Eagle-Solomon Wilcots, Don Criqui-Steve Tasker, Bill Macatee-Steve Beuerlein.

Panthers | Television Broadcast Team Named

Patnhers.com reports former Carolina Panthers QB Steve Beuerlein and Gary Williams will form the broadcast team for the telecasts of the Carolina Panthers four preseason games, while Pete Yanity will return as the sideline reporter. Williams, who will handle the play-by-play duties, is the host of "The Morning Sports Page," the top-rated morning sports radio talk show in Charlotte. Yanity, sports director at WSPA-TV in Spartanburg, enters his fifth season as the Panthers sideline reporter for preseason contests.

NFL | Beuerlein Close to Starting Broadcasting Career

Scott Fowler, of the Charlotte Observer, reports free agent QB Steve Beuerlein (Broncos) has not announced his retirement from the NFL, but has refused feelers from teams that wanted him to serve as the No. 2 or No. 3 quarterback. "It's not an impossibility, but it's an improbability," Beuerlein said Thursday, July 8. "I'm at peace with saying I'm done with playing. Probably." The 39-year-old Beuerlein is close to signing an agreement with CBS that will allow him to broadcast eight NFL games this season as a color analyst.

NFL | Beuerlein's Future Unknown

Lee Rasizer, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports free agent QB Steve Beuerlein (Broncos), who was released by the Denver Broncos on Monday, May 10, is not sure whether he will retire after 17 seasons in the NFL. A source close to Beuerlein indicated the veteran quarterback is likely to only consider a return to Denver, given his familiarity with the Broncos' offensive system, his close relationship with Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan and family considerations. His recent medical history is also a factor, as Beuerlein's 2003 season ended with a broken little finger in October. Beuerlein, who had two surgeries on his right hand, recently began throwing.

Broncos | Beuerlein Expected to be Released

Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan has announced that the team intends to release QB Steve Beuerlein (finger/hand) on Monday, May 10, according to Andrew Mason of DenverBroncos.com, but it may not signal the end of his career with the team. "He's going to work out and make a decision later on as to if he's going to come back and play football," Shanahan said. "Right now, he doesn't know. He's got that injury and he's recuperating right now. He feels like he wants to play another year; he's just not sure if he wants to play another year." Beuerlein has undergone two surgeries in recent months, having had finger surgery in October 2003 (with several pins inserted in his finger to aid healing), as well as having a second operation performed during the offseason, to fix a problem between his ring finger and his pinkie.

Broncos | Need to Evaluate Backup QB

Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan said Thursday, March 4, said the team will address the backup quarterback position after the NFL Draft. He said the team needs to sit down next week to talk and go through some film again. In regards to Steve Beuerlein, Shanahan said the two sides haven't talked and he told Beuerlein to get away for a few months.
