Cowboys | Tony Romo in good shape

Wed, 12 Nov 2014 10:45:07 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is in good shape after playing against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10 in London as the team heads into their bye week. "He came out of the game fairly clean and didn't seem to have any issues on the flight coming back," head coach Jason Garrett said. "He is in good shape." Garrett said Romo will not do too much during practices Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys face the New York Giants in Week 12, and with Romo expected to be healthy, he should be another fine play at FantasyScore against the division rivals.

Cowboys | Tony Romo makes it through OK

Sun, 09 Nov 2014 15:58:16 -0800

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) made it through the Week 10 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars without any setbacks. "Just sore," Romo said Sunday, Nov. 9. "Anybody that's had any broken bones, it's uncomfortable at times and things like that. But if you play football, you go play."

Fantasy Tip: Romo was able to turn in his best pass rating of the season, so he is fine for fantasy owners going forward. FantasyScore owners starting him Sunday were treated to a big game against the lowly Jags.

Fantasy Tip: Romo looked fine, and facing the Jaguars usually helps everyone look pretty good. It appears safe to start Romo again in FantasyScore.

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo went 16-for-21 for 225 yards and three touchdowns in the first half of the team's Week 10 game.

Fantasy Tip: Romo does not appear to be limited by his injured back and still has a half to put up more stats. Romo will receive a week for his back to rest next week and likely will be a weekly starting option moving forward.

Cowboys | Tony Romo is playing

Sun, 09 Nov 2014 08:46:46 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is active for the Week 10 game Sunday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Romo ($7,000; 14% of your cap) might be too risky to play at that price on FantasyScore today.

Cowboys | Tony Romo listed as probable

Fri, 07 Nov 2014 09:19:16 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 7, and he is listed as probable for the team's game in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10. The team has expected Romo to start this weekend all along. "He looked pretty comfortable to me," head coach Jason Garrett, who spoke before Friday's practice, said of Thursday's session. "Clearly, he wanted to get the blood flowing through his body and get his movement back both in the pocket and also throwing the football, and he had a pretty good day yesterday." However, Garrett still hasn't made a decision on whether Romo will start Sunday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Romo should play in London, but at a FantasyScore cost of $7,000, is he worth the cost? The game against the Jags could be one in which the Cowboys rarely need to rely on the arm of Romo.

Cowboys | Tony Romo practices Friday

Fri, 07 Nov 2014 06:41:11 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) practiced Friday, Nov. 7, and should be ready to play in Week 10 Sunday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Romo ($7,000; 14.0% of your cap) is a suspect play this week on FantasyScore. His physical limitations could hinder his throwing mechanics, and there are safer bets in his price range.

Cowboys | Tony Romo could play another five years

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 10:23:09 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo could play for another five years, according to owner Jerry Jones. "I think it's realistic for him to play five more years," Jones said. "I'm aware of his back. Only God knows what is in store for his back. I've seen backs out there that you wouldn't believe how they look on the MRIs and how they look on X-rays. "If you're concerned about his future, then look at his age, and you might say, boy, you need to be thinking about a time when he doesn't play. I don't look at it much differently than that with his back, because there have been three very different types of injuries that have caused him to miss games with his back."

Fantasy Tip: Obviously the big question with Romo will be his back moving forward, but it may be optimistic to think that Romo would be able to last that long with the injury history he has had.

Cowboys | Tony Romo expected to play

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 10:22:09 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is expected to play in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars after returning to practice Thursday, Nov. 6, according to general manager Jerry Jones. "I'm anticipating him playing, have no reason to think that he won't, and this will be a nice little practice session for him out there today," Jones said. "But my expectations are for him to play." Romo and head coach Jason Garrett aren't committing one way or another just yet, though. Garrett continues to stress that the final decision on whether Romo plays will come down to the medical staff.

Fantasy Tip: Romo is surely a risk at FantasyScore for $7,300 in Week 10, even if he plays. However, the matchup against the Jaguars is a great one if you choose to go that route for your quarterback.

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 6.

Wed, 05 Nov 2014 05:41:00 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) didn't practice Wednesday, Nov. 5, and stayed back at the hotel for treatment, according to head coach Jason Garrett.

Fantasy Tip: Romo ($7,000; 14.0% of your cap) is still expected to play this week. Continue monitoring his status to determine whether you should play him on FantasyScore.

Cowboys | Tony Romo still hampered

Tue, 04 Nov 2014 14:02:39 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is reportedly still stiff and not moving well as he nurses his injured back.

Fantasy Tip: Romo is still only doing walk-throughs and is sounding quite questionable to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London this weekend. His FantasyScore price of $7,000 might be a little too rich for his current status even if he plays.

Cowboys | Tony Romo progressing

Tue, 04 Nov 2014 11:01:25 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) said he felt fine after taking the flight to London Monday, Nov. 3, and he took part in a walk-through Tuesday, Nov. 4, throwing light passes during a Play 60 event. The team and Romo are optimistic that he can play in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. "It's progressing," Romo said of his back. "Each day it gets a little bit of improvement, and I think that you just keep trying to figure out what you're able to do each day and then you go on to the next day. We'll figure out if we're able to improve enough to be ready to go." His decision to play will likely come down to pain tolerance.

Fantasy Tip: Romo could be questionable to play this weekend, but it looks like he has a much better shot of playing against the Jags. If he does play, facing the Jaguars is a great matchup for FantasyScore lineups.

Cowboys | Tony Romo improving

Tue, 04 Nov 2014 07:45:34 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) said his back has improved, but there is still some discomfort Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Romo ($7,000; 14.0% of your cap) has a good matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, if you're looking to invest in a mid-tier QB on FantasyScore, Ryan Tannehill's $6,700 price tag at the Detroit Lions is probably a better investment. Romo's back injury could hinder his mobility and throwing mechanics if he plays this week.

Cowboys | Tony Romo expected to play in Week 10

Mon, 03 Nov 2014 08:30:42 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is expected to play in Week 10, according to owner Jerry Jones. "I do see him playing," Jones told NFL Network's Desmond Purnell. "He's going on the trip to London, and logic tells you that we wouldn't have him make that trip to London and back if we didn't think he was going to play, so it does depend on the type of week he has at practice. But if he has the week we expect, he should be our quarterback."

Fantasy Tip: Romo has a good matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars and should be a solid option on FantasyScore. Dez Bryant's prospects for Week 10 with Romo at the helm are also favorable as a high-end WR1.

Cowboys | Tony Romo may not travel to London

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 09:34:45 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) may not travel to London for the team's Week 10 game so he can have two weeks to allow his back to rest.

Fantasy Tip: Romo will need time for his back injury to heal, so there is a chance he is not able to return until after their Week 11 bye. Owners should look for a replacement at quarterback for the next few weeks.

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 06:08:11 -0800

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) will not play Sunday, Nov. 2, in Week 9, according to a source. He has a better chance at playing in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Brandon Weeden ($3,700; 7.4% of your cap) will start, but he isn't a good option to use on FantasyScore today.

Cowboys | Tony Romo's status iffy for two games

Sat, 01 Nov 2014 14:55:46 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo's (back) status is iffy for the next two games, in the opinion of beat writer Calvin Watkins. The team flies to London for Week 10, and the travel clouds his status for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Romo ($7,300; 14.6% of your cap) is at a solid price on FantasyScore this week. However, the general feel is starting to lean towards him sitting out. Brandon Weeden ($3,700; 7.4%) probably isn't worth consideration if he plays.

Sat, 01 Nov 2014 14:18:43 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) has two transverse process fractures in his lower back. He could still play Sunday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Romo ($7,300; 14.6% of your cap) is at a decent price on FantasyScore this week. However, there are several options in his price range without as much risk.

Cowboys | Tony Romo will wear extra protection

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 10:09:16 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) will wear added Nike Combat gear protection in his undershirt if he plays in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals. He has worn a rib protector since he became the starter and when he suffered a punctured lung and broken rib, it was protected by Kevlar. Head coach Jason Garrett has no rules against a player playing on game day without practicing all week.

Fantasy Tip: Romo sounds like a true game-time decision in Week 9. It's smart to stay away from him at FantasyScore and all other fantasy football leagues.

Cowboys | Tony Romo could be game-time call

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 09:52:45 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) missed his third straight day of practice Friday, Oct. 31, and he'll have to be able to move better before being allowed to play in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Jason Garrett said the team doesn't need to know before Sunday, Nov. 2, if Romo can play. Romo has had treatment on his back all week, but he hasn't done any football activities. QB Brandon Weeden would receive the start if Romo can't play.

Fantasy Tip: An entire week of missed practice typically doesn't bode well for a player's status on Sunday. Romo ($7,300; 14.6% of cap) is a big risk at FantasyScore, even if he suits up against the Cardinals. You can ignore Weeden if he plays.

Cowboys | Tony Romo not practicing

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 09:57:41 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) didn't take part in the walk-through Thursday, Oct. 30, and will not practice with the team. However, head coach Jason Garrett remains hopeful that Romo can play in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals. "He's not ruled out for this game by any means," Garrett said. "He's getting himself mentally ready. He's in the meetings. He's a part of our football team, and hopefully as the week goes on, it feels better and he can function and it'll give him a chance to play." Romo and the team continue to say that his injury is not related to his disc problem that he had surgery on last year. Romo said he'd play if the question is only about pain tolerance. Garrett said the team is calling the injury a bone contusion. The Cowboys are looking into modifications for Romo's pads if he is to play Sunday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, Romo could very well be a game-time decision against the Cardinals. At a price of $7,300 (14.6% of cap), it's probably not worth investing in him at FantasyScore this week.

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 09:15:22 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Romo may be a game-time decision for Week 9, so owners will need to monitor his status. Romo costs $7,300 on FantasyScore but will be a risky play for owners.

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 08:52:15 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is not expected to do much during practice Thursday, Oct. 30, according to head coach Jason Garrett.

Fantasy Tip: Romo probably does not have to do a lot during practice this week to be ready for Week 9. Owners will need to monitor the situation over the next few days to have a better idea on his status. Owners would have to spend $7,300 on Romo at FantasyScore this week but may want to look for a healthier option to use.

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 29. QB Brandon Weeden is working with the first-team offense during practice.

Fantasy Tip: Romo could be a game-time decision for Week 9, so owners should track his situation during the week. Romo costs $7,300 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to use their money on a healthier option. Weeden would get the start if Romo is not able to play and would be a desperation sleeper option for owners.

Cowboys | Tony Romo's status based on pain

Wed, 29 Oct 2014 07:51:57 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo's (back) Week 9 status will be based on pain tolerance, according to owner Jerry Jones. Romo could be a game-time decision.

Fantasy Tip: This sounds a lot more promising than some of the earlier reports, and we can't see a bruised back keeping Romo out against the Arizona Cardinals this week. Romo will cost you $7,300 on FantasyScore this week, which is 14.6% of your cap. It's a pretty good price if you deem the risk worthwhile.

Wed, 29 Oct 2014 05:45:19 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is expected to miss time with his back contusion, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Fantasy Tip: Brandon Weeden ($3,700; 7.4% of your cap) would not be worth the start on FantasyScore, despite his good showing in Romo's brief absence last week. Dez Bryant's ($7,500; 15%) stock will take a hit, but Jason Witten's ($5,800; 11.6%) would improve.

Cowboys | Tony Romo undergoing MRI

Tue, 28 Oct 2014 11:54:50 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) will undergo an MRI exam Tuesday, Oct. 28, for a better look at his bruised back. X-rays came back negative Monday, Oct. 27, and he was able to return to the Week 8 game after taking a pain-killing shot. The team expects Romo to be ready to play the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9. He finished the game with 209 yards after going 17-for-28, and he was sacked a season-high five times.

Fantasy Tip: You'll need to keep a close eye on Romo's progress and practice status this week. Even if he plays against Arizona, he's probably not the best option for your FantasyScore lineups. Romo will cost $7,300 (14.6% of cap) in Week 9.

Tue, 28 Oct 2014 07:04:30 -0700

Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) suffered a contusion near the surgical site in his back Monday, Oct. 27. Pain tolerance and mobility will be two factors in play in the short term.

Fantasy Tip: Romo ($7,300; 14.6% of your cap) will face a struggling Arizona Cardinals defense in Week 9. However, his price tag on FantasyScore isn't the most desirable when his mobility is in question.

Cowboys | Tony Romo shines again

Sun, 19 Oct 2014 20:17:06 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo was 17-for-23 for 279 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 7 win over the New York Giants, and two touchdowns went to TE Gavin Escobar. "I'd have to say that may be (the) best game I've ever seen Tony Romo play," owner and general manager Jerry Jones said. "That was an outstanding game. He was pinpointing the ball, making the kind of plays and protecting the ball." Romo said his surgically repaired back felt fine during the game, and he needed a toradol shot before the game to help with his bruised ribs and sprained ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Romo's fine 2014 season continues, and he shouldn't slow much against the Washington Redskins in Week 8. Consider him a strong play once again in all fantasy football leagues.

Cowboys | Tony Romo having fine season

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 10:15:41 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo has been incredibly effective this season, ranking fourth in passer rating (100.5). He has completed 68.6 percent of his passes for 1,510 yards and 11 touchdowns with just five interceptions. Romo has been more productive while sitting out of practices on Wednesdays to focus on core-strengthening exercises. He has completed 70.2 percent of his passes for 1,053 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions in the last four games. The last two games, Romo has shown an ability to escape the pocket and make plays deep down the field.

Fantasy Tip: A much-improved running game behind a productive and dominant offensive line has taken a ton of pressure off of Romo's shoulders. He's performed like a QB1 most weeks this year, and it could continue throughout the rest of the season. At $7,300 (14.6% of cap), he's a fine option against the division-rival New York Giants in Week 7.

Cowboys | Tony Romo a full participant

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 13:07:28 -0700
