Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis allowed five earned runs in five full innings Saturday, May 16, against the Cleveland Indians.
Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) had his worst showing of the year, ending a streak of five straight starts with three or fewer earned runs allowed. Oddly enough, Lewis struck out seven hitters for his second highest K total of the season. Lewis has not allowed a home run in five consecutive starts and six total starts for the season. With the homers likely to come at some point soon, this outing was likely the beginning of the end for Lewis. His next start will come Friday, May 22, against the New York Yankees.

Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis is expected to get a chance to win the No. 4 starter's job in the spring, working behind SPs Yu Darvish, Yovani Gallardo and Derek Holland.
Fantasy Tip: Lewis is an underwhelming fantasy option, but he has proved to be useful in the past. He was able to strike out 196 batters in 2010, but injuries have knocked him down a few pegs and the offense is also not nearly as potent to help him to double-digit wins when he doesn't have his 'A' game. He lost 14 games last season with a terrible 5.18 ERA and it wouldn't be shocking to see him out of the rotation completely with many young arms vying for jobs behind the big three in Texas' rotation.

Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said the team is continuing to look for starting pitching even after the acquisition of SP Ross Detwiler. "We've got a number of internal options coming to compete for a spot, all of them that we like," Daniels said. "But you can never have enough and we'll continue having conversations about adding another starter." The Rangers already have SPs Yu Darvish, Derek Holland, Colby Lewis, Detwiler, Nick Martinez and Nick Tepesch on their roster and minor league SPs Alex Gonzalez and Luke Jackson could also compete for a job during spring training.
