Rangers | Texas not shopping Prince Fielder

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 16:45:19 -0800

Updating a previous report, the Texas Rangers are not shopping 1B Prince Fielder in a trade this offseason, according to general manager Jon Daniels.

Fantasy Tip: Fielder had an MVP-caliber bounceback season in 2015, so it's not surprising the Rangers aren't considering moving him. He's in a perfect hitting environment at Globe Life Park and will remain one of the pricier slugging first basemen on draft day.

Rangers | Prince Fielder not in demand

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 10:14:33 -0800

The Texas Rangers are gauging interest in 1B Prince Fielder and whether any teams would be interested in picking up the bulk of his contract. So far they aren't receiving much of a response.

Fantasy Tip: Fielder had an incredible bouncback year in 2015, hitting 23 home runs and driving in 98 runs while hitting .305 on the season. Texas is the perfect home for him to maximize his fantasy value. As long as he stays a Ranger, he'll remain an upper-level first base target for fantasy owners in the early rounds.

Rangers | Prince Fielder wins comeback award

Thu, 05 Nov 2015 09:30:44 -0800

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder was named the American League Comeback Player of the Year Thursday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Fielder bounced back with a .305-23-98 season, but it fell short of the 40-homer season some pegged him for in Texas. He'll be in the upper echelon at the position in next year's drafts.

Rangers | Prince Fielder on the bench

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 07:22:52 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Matt Boyd Sunday, Aug. 23. 1B Mike Napoli will serve as the designated hitter and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Fielder ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) is playing better against right-handed pitchers, so he is sitting out Sunday. Napoli ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has picked up five hits in 10 games since joining the Rangers and has seen limited playing time. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Napoli despite his struggles this season.

Rangers | Prince Fielder gets the day off

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 08:46:43 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder has an off day against the Seattle Mariners and left-handed SP Mike Montgomery Wednesday, Aug. 19. 1B Mike Napoli will get the start and bat fifth for the Rangers.

Fantasy Tip: Napoli ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has crushed left-handers in the past, but 2015 has been a lost season. He is batting .205 with 13 home runs on the season and .167 since being traded to the Rangers. There are better affordable options on FantasyScore in the day slate.

Rangers | Prince Fielder in line for big game?

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 13:49:12 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is 4-for-11 with two home runs in his career off of New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano, who he faces Tuesday, July 27. Fielder is hitting .412 with five home runs and 18 RBI during his 12-game hitting streak against the Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: We don't typically recommend lefty hitters against southpaws, but this may be an exception. Fielder has a .287 average and .835 OPS with seven of his 15 home runs against lefties in 2015, and Capuano shouldn't strike fear in Fielder tonight.

Rangers | Prince Fielder plays well against Yankees

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 14:25:01 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is hitting .353 with eight home runs and 25 RBI in 25 career games against the New York Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: Fielder ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) has played very well this season with .337 batting average and 15 home runs. Fielder should be a nightly starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Rangers | Prince Fielder resting Wednesday

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 10:25:39 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is out of the lineup Wednesday, July 22, with 1B Mitch Moreland hitting cleanup in Coors Field.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) faces lefty Jorge De La Rosa, and he has just a .256-2-7 line against lefties this year. Moreland is still a solid midrange choice on FantasyScore in the hitter's paradise.

Rangers | Prince Fielder has two more hits

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 22:52:41 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, walk and a strikeout Tuesday, July 21, against the Colorado Rockies. He has 40 multi-hit games this season, tops in the majors, and he is second in the league with a .341 average.

Fantasy Tip: Fielder ($5,800; or 11.6% of cap) has re-emerged as a must-start FantasyScore option after a difficult and injury-marred 2014 season.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland not in the lineup

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 14:14:24 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin Monday, July 20. 1B Prince Fielder will start at first base since there is no designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) may not see much playing time against the Rockies since Fielder should remain in the lineup. Moreland likely will return when the team plays another American League team.
