Cardinals | John Lackey limiting opponents

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 13:00:36 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey has allowed two runs or fewer in 11 of his last 13 starts and three or fewer in 21 of his 25 starts this season. Lackey is starting against the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Lackey ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) is having a bounce-back season, but he doesn't pile on the strikeouts which limits his upside in all formats, but especially at FantasyScore. He is a solid No. 2 starting pitcher option in daily contests, albeit an expensive one. The Diamondbacks aren't a slam-dunk matchup, either. They've got a top-10 OPS (.758) in August.

Cardinals | John Lackey struggles in loss

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 05:12:15 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey allowed four earned runs and nine hits in six innings of work but lost 9-3 to the San Diego Padres. He struck out seven and walked one in defeat.

Fantasy Tip: In defense of Lackey ($8,100, 16.2% of cap), the Cardinals defense looked atrocious in the fifth inning as the team committed three errors. Still, Lackey has had some struggles as of late and he is 2-5 with a 4.10 ERA away from Busch Stadium. If you have to start Lackey, wait until he pitches in St. Louis.

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey is scheduled to face the San Diego Padres Friday, Aug. 21. He is seeking his 13th consecutive quality start.

Cardinals | John Lackey takes road loss

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 20:52:35 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey allowed three earned runs, six hits and two walks with five strikeouts over six innings in a loss Tuesday, Aug. 4, against the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Lackey ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) has posted 10 quality starts in a row, although the Reds have dumped him in each of his past two outings. He is a much better FantasyScore option at home where he is 7-3 with a 1.89 ERA in 12 outings with 70 strikeouts over 85 2/3 innings. His next start will come on the road Sunday in Milwaukee.

Cardinals | John Lackey takes hard-luck loss

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 22:50:10 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey allowed one earned run, two hits and a walk with eight strikeouts over eight innings in a loss Wednesday, June 29, against the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Lackey ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) might have lost, but he still produced solid results for FantasyScore players. He is 7-3 with a 1.89 ERA in 12 home outings. Use him in FantasyScore when he is home, but on the road he has a 4.19 ERA in nine starts and is not as attractive.

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey allowed six hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings in a win against the Chicago Cubs Monday, July 6. He also struck out four batters, lowering his ERA to 3.09.

Fantasy Tip: Lackey ($6,300; or 12.6% of cap) has lasted seven or more innings in five consecutive outings, all quality starts. It is his best pitching run in years, making him a must-start in FantasyScore.

Cardinals | John Lackey unbeatable in the Lou

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 21:15:10 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey is the probable starter for Wednesday, July 1, against the Chicago White Sox. He is 7-1 with a 2.08 ERA in 13 career starts in St. Louis, and he is 5-1 with a 1.91 ERA at home this season.

Fantasy Tip: Lackey ($6,300; or 12.6% of cap) is a solid play in FantasyScore, especially considering he is up against Jose Quintana, who is 2-6 over his past 12 starts, mainly due to a lack of run support.

Cardinals | John Lackey's success at home continues

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 18:00:22 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey allowed three runs on 10 hits over seven innings to earn his fourth victory of the season against the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday, June 3.

Fantasy Tip: Lackey ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) has been particularly dominant at home this season, where he is 4-1 with a 1.73 ERA over 41 2/3 innings. Unfortunately for him, his next start will be on the road, where he is 0-2 with a 4.66 ERA in five games.

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey is scheduled to start Wednesday, June 3, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He is 5-1 with a 1.83 ERA at Busch Stadium in 10 career starts.

Fantasy Tip: Lackey ($6,100; or 12.2% of cap) is a sharp mid-level value for FantasyScore players given his success at home.

Cardinals | John Lackey pitches seven innings

Mon, 18 May 2015 22:10:03 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey allowed one run on three hits in seven innings against the New York Mets Monday, May 18. He struck out six batters and did not walk any batters during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Lackey ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has allowed only five earned runs in his four starts in May and has 22 strikeouts during that span. Lackey is scheduled to pitch against the Kansas City Royals in his next start and may be a risky option on FantasyScore.
