Phillies | Aaron Harang ends drought

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 20:37:06 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang won for the first time in eight starts, allowing one run on nine hits in five innings against the Atlanta Braves Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Harang ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) had allowed at least four runs in six straight starts, but he will need to do more than scatter nine hits over five innings to make him worth taking a chance on at FantasyScore moving forward.

Phillies | Aaron Harang in winless stretch

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 08:58:28 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang, who is 4-11 on the season with a 4.08 ERA, has lost his last eight decisions and hasn't won a game since May 14.

Fantasy Tip: Harang ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has been out since July 1 with a foot injury. He's given up 36 earned runs in 46 2/3 innings in his last eight starts, including allowing 10 home runs. Even against the struggling Atlanta Braves, Harang should be considered a very weak FantasyScore option in his start Thursday.

Phillies | Aaron Harang to start Thursday

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 10:51:25 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang (foot) is scheduled to be the starting pitcher against the Atlanta Braves Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Harang ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has not pitched since he allowed eight runs in a start July 1. He is coming off a foot injury and has not pitched in any rehab games, so owners on FantasyScore may want to avoid him.

Phillies | Rehab start next for Aaron Harang

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 14:23:42 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang (foot) next step in his recovery is to make a rehab start.

Fantasy Tip: Harang ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) looked solid early in the season, and he owned a 2.02 ERA after his first 11 starts. However, the wheels fell off, and Harang posted an 8.31 ERA while allowing hitters to post a .331/.391/.572 slash line against him over his next six outings. Harang is a risky start in all fantasy formats, and should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation option.

Phillies | Aaron Harang scheduled to throw

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 08:04:35 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang (foot) was scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday, July 17. Harang has been on the 15-day disabled list since July 2, but is making progress.

Fantasy Tip: Harang ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) likely will need to make at least one rehab start before returning. Harang could be moved before the trade deadline, so his fantasy value will be determined by which team he is playing for when he returns.

Phillies | Aaron Harang to DL

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 10:29:16 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang (foot) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with plantar fasciitis in his left foot Thursday, July 2. SP Chad Billingsley (shoulder) was activated from the DL in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Harang ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) had fallen on hard times of late, losing eight straight and allowing 59 hits and 36 earned runs in 46 2/3 innings over that time frame. He was due for serious regression after a nice first month and a half of the season. Only hang onto him in the deepest of NL-only leagues.

Pirates | Bucs on the prowl for upgrades

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 15:55:41 -0700

The Pittsburgh Pirates are looking for upgrades at first base and for their starting rotation with the trade deadline nearing. The Pirates have been scouting the Boston Red Sox and could be interested in SP Clay Buchholz and 1B Mike Napoli. Buchholz is making $12 million in 2015 and has $13.5 million club options for the next two seasons. The Pirates also may have interest in Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang as a cheap addition to their bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Buchholz ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) has shown nice improvement of late and would surely benefit from a move to the National League and to a pitcher-friendly venue. Napoli ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has 10 home runs but has been a huge disappointment otherwise, and a move to Pittsburgh would only further drop his value. Harang ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) who already has very little fantasy intrigue, would lose any value left with a move to a relief role.

Phillies | Aaron Harang beat around by Reds

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 19:40:14 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang allowed seven earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five during the Phillies' 11-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday, June 9. Harang also allowed four home runs.

Fantasy Tip: Harang ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) allowed six runs -- five earned -- in his last outing, too, so at this point he should be viewed as an extremely risky start in all fantasy formats. Don't forget, Harang also started hot last season before becoming extremely inconsistent after May. Tossing for the tanking Phillies doesn't help the probability of landing FantasyScore's three-point win bonus, either.

Astros | HOU interested in Aaron Harang

Sat, 30 May 2015 10:22:21 -0700

The Houston Astros have had internal discusssions about trading for Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang.

Fantasy Tip: In 10 starts this season, Harang ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) has gone 4-4 with a 1.93 ERA and a sparkling 1.03 WHIP. He has been particularly dominant at home, with a 0.61 ERA through his first four starts at Citizens Bank Park. The only downside to using him in FantasyScore is that he won't rack up very many strikeouts.

Phillies | Aaron Harang dominating at home

Thu, 14 May 2015 19:03:13 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang has a 0.61 ERA over his first four starts at home this season, the lowest among qualified starters.

Fantasy Tip: Harang ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has been solid overall this season, but he has been particularly stout at home. Don't hesitate to plug him in at FantasyScore if he has a favorable matchup.
