Giants | Jake Peavy will make one more start

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 16:57:14 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) will make one more rehab start at Class AAA, and he is tentatively scheduled to rejoin the Giants' rotation July 3. SP Tim Lincecum would be normally slotted for that start, based on the current rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) doesn't have much value beyond NL-only leagues. Mixed-league owners will need to see some strong performances from the veteran before streaming him for ideal matchups.

Giants | Jake Peavy ready

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 05:52:16 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) threw six innings in his final rehab start at Class AAA Sacramento, and manager Bruce Bochy said Peavy's next start could be next weekend against the Colorado Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) was awful in his first two starts of the year, and it's really a roll of the FantasyScore dice in his first start back.

Giants | Jake Peavy could be activated when needed

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 17:51:29 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) could be activated at any point, according to manager Bruce Bochy, but he will make one more rehab start before returning to the Giants rotation. Bochy has no plan for a six-man rotation at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) should be added in NL-only leagues, but mixed-league owners should wait it out to see what Peavy is capable of upon his return. Peavy holds a 9.39 ERA through two major league starts this season, although his strikeout rate was his highest at the major league level since the 2009 season.

Giants | Jake Peavy close

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 16:44:44 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) is set to make his third rehab start for Class AAA Sacramento this week, and manager Bruce Bochy said Peavy will need at least one more rehab start before returning to the team.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is much closer to returning to the rotation than Matt Cain, but it's unclear how the Giants will rearrange their staff to accomodate them. Peavy had a 9.39 ERA in his two starts this season before being injured, so it's unlikely he'll be anything more than a low-priced sleeper pick in the right matchup on FantasyScore.

Giants | Jake Peavy set for rehab start

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 11:12:19 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, June 3, and used all of his pitches. He's slated to make a rehab start for Class AAA Sacramento Saturday, June 6, and he's expecting to throw 75 pitches.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants are being cautious with Peavy's ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) return, mainly because they don't have an obvious opening in the rotation when he's completely healthy. If he is given a rotation spot soon, Peavy is likely nothing more than a matchup play for a low daily price on FantasyScore. Owning Peavy in shallow mixed leagues would be for nothing more than a stream play.

Giants | Setback for Jake Peavy

Sun, 31 May 2015 04:34:26 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) experienced back discomfort and will be slowed down in his rehab progress for a few days.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is a pitcher that you need to watch. If he isn't totally healthy, then you should leave him alone. Still, don't drop him outright. Once he is recovered, it may take a little time but Peavy should rebound from these injuries.

Giants | Two more rehab starts for Jake Peavy

Thu, 28 May 2015 16:48:16 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) came out of his rehab start fine Wednesday, May 27, and manager Bruce Bochy said Peavy will make at least two more rehab starts.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) had an ERA of 9.39 and a 2.09 WHIP after just two starts in 2015, and he should remain on the waiver wire in shallow mixed formats until he proves he's fully healthy in his return to the rotation. Ryan Vogelson ($3,300, 6.6% of cap), who has pitched well of late, and Chris Heston ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) are the ones most in danger of losing their rotation spot. Stay tuned.

Giants | Jake Peavy to make rehab start

Wed, 27 May 2015 18:04:56 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) is scheduled to make a rehab start for Class AAA Sacramento Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is working his way back from the injury and may need more rehab starts before he returns to the team. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see Peavy pitch in a game or two for the Giants before using him in their lineups.

Giants | Jake Peavy to pitch Friday

Tue, 19 May 2015 17:23:19 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) said he is aiming to make a rehab start for Class A San Jose (Calif.) Friday, May 22. Peavy will throw one inning.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) remains a ways away from a return. Peavy will be worth stashing in NL-only leagues, but owners in mixed leagues could make better use of the roster space.

Giants | Jake Peavy improving

Tue, 19 May 2015 16:34:26 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, May 19, after a "good week" in Arizona. Peavy has been undergoing physical therapy and threw to hitters Saturday, May 16.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) remains without a firm timetable, but owners in NL-only leagues and deep mixed leagues could consider an early stash.
