Giants | Jake Peavy ends on high note

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 17:59:05 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy allowed one run on four hits and struck out two over five innings in a win over the Colorado Rockies Saturday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) is 5-0 in his last eight starts, and he has allowed two runs or less in five straight starts. The veteran seems to have something left in the tank, and he could have some value as a sleeper when 2016 rolls around.

Giants | Jake Peavy throws six scoreless innings

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 00:16:52 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy threw six scoreless innings Wednesday, Sept. 23, but picked up no decision as the San Diego Padres rallied for a 5-4 victory.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) has not been the best of pitchers on the road, as his best numbers (5-2, 3.40) have come in San Francisco. Still, this was a decent outing that might be worth watching in the season's final 10 days.

Giants | Jake Peavy dominant against Cincy

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 18:06:24 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy, who will start against the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday, Sept. 16, is 6-0 with a 2.33 ERA in 11 lifetime outings versus the team.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) is undefeated in his last four starts and allowed just one run on two hits over seven innings in his most recent outing against the San Diego Padres Friday, Sept. 11. If not for his low strikeout rate, he would be an excellent FantasyScore option.

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (3-6) allowed four runs on seven hits over six innings in a loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday, Aug. 20, with one walk and five strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) has allowed nine earned runs over 11 2/3 innings in his last two starts. His next start will come against the Chicago Cubs Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Giants | Jake Peavy gets rare win

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 05:04:46 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy won for the first time in four starts Saturday, Aug. 15, against the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) was lucky to get the win, as his five earned runs against were the most he has allowed in a start all season. Peavy had allowed just three runs in his previous three starts, but due to a high WHIP and a low strikeout rate, he's not a strong FantasyScore option.

Giants | Jake Peavy turns in quality start

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 20:16:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy allowed one earned run, five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision Tuesday, Aug. 4, against the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has struggled, but this was a vintage performance and he could be worth using in FantasyScore at a cut-rate price if he pieces together another quality start or two.

Giants | Jake Peavy good against Brewers

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 10:34:40 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy is 4-4 with a 2.44 ERA in 12 career starts against the Milwaukee Brewers, but he is 3-2 with a 1.56 ERA against them in his last six outings. Peavy faces the Brewers Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Sure, Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been good against the Brew Crew in his career, and they aren't in contention this season. But the Brewers have actually been one of the hotter offensive clubs since the All-Star break, and Peavy has allowed seven runs in his last two starts. Peavy might be a bigger risk than you want to take in daily games today.

Giants | Jake Peavy gets first win

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 05:40:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy got his first win of the season Saturday, July 18, against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is 1-4 through five starts on the season, but he has pitched at least 6 1/3 innings in each of his three starts since returning from the disabled list. Saturday's outing was actually Peavy's worst of the three, and he'll continue to be a risky play on FantasyScore, while not possessing much upside due to a low strikeout rate.

Giants | Jake Peavy tagged with loss

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 18:51:44 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (0-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits over seven innings in a loss to the New York Mets Wednesday, July 8, with one walk and five strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has pitched well in each of his last two outings but his biggest problem has been run support. The Giants have only scored a total of five runs in his four starts this year. Given the right matchup, Peavy is an inexpensive sleeper play in FantasyScore.

Giants | Jake Peavy has gained weight

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 15:51:18 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy said he has gained 10 pounds since he started lifting weights again after his back and hip ailments. Peavy thinks he will be strong in the second half of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) allowed two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings in his return against the Washington Nationals last Friday and put up another solid performance against the New York Mets today. If he's healthy, he's worth owning in all leagues as a matchup play, especially when pitching at home.
