Giants | Madison Bumgarner could pitch out of 'pen

San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner, who tossed a four-hit shutout over the Kansas City Royals in Game 5 of the World Series over the weekend, said he will be available to pitch in relief if needed in Game 6 Tuesday, Oct. 28. He hasn't made a relief appearance since throwing two scoreless innings in Game 6 of the 2010 National League Championship Series. SP Jake Peavy will make the start against the Royals Tuesday. Bumgarner is now 4-0 with a record-low 0.29 ERA in the World Series.

Once the free agency and trade period opens up following the World Series, San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy may draw interest from the St. Louis Cardinals. Peavy noted at an off-day NLCS press conference that he thought a trade to the Cardinals might happen at the deadline. Peavy could draw interest once again if the club decides it needs another veteran pitcher.
