St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong has been struggling of late, and 2B Mark Ellis has capitalized with more playing time; he made his third start in four games Monday, April 21. Manager Mike Matheny said Ellis' start against a righty Monday was "a great example" of how the team intends to use him - as a right-handed complement to Wong. Wong's average is down from .280 to .237, and he has four strikeouts in eight games. He said he's been "out of synch and rushing" lately.
Fantasy Tip: Matheny is choosing to ride the sure thing in Ellis over a struggling Wong. Wong owners in mixed leagues need to take note. Until Wong can regain the confidence in his swing and of his skipper, he's primarily an NL-only commodity.

The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to terms with free-agent 2B Mark Ellis (Dodgers) on a one-year deal pending a physical. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Tip: Ellis likely will have more value in NL-only leagues and probably should not be drafted in most mixed leagues. He could be used as a utility infielder with 2B Kolten Wong receiving more of the playing time at second base.
