White Sox | Adam LaRoche out in NL park

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 15:06:44 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, June 30, without the designated hitter in a National League stadium.

Fantasy Tip: Be careful of using LaRoche ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) on FantasyScore in this series against the Cards without a DH. Jose Abreu could also sit out a game if LaRoche enters the lineup at first base. Just make sure to double check this week on LaRoche before clicking his name in all fantasy formats.

White Sox | Jose Abreu batting second

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 10:07:13 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu is batting second against Detroit Tigers SP Kyle Ryan Saturday, June 27. It marks the first time in Abreu's major league career that he is hitting in the No. 2 spot. OF Avisail Garcia will bat in the No. 3 spot, followed by DH Adam LaRoche, OF Melky Cabrera and SS Alexei Ramirez.

Fantasy Tip: The White Sox have scored 19 runs in their last four games, so it's uncertain what brought upon this lineup shakeup. Abreu ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) is 2-for-5 in his career against Ryan and is batting .323 over the last week.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche out of lineup Tuesday

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 12:37:00 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the lineup Tuesday, June 16, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: Because LaRoche ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) plays a lot at designated hitter, he is on the bench because the game is in a National League park with no designated hitter. Remove from your lineup accordingly.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche sitting vs. Pirates

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 12:03:28 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the starting lineup against the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: There is a chance LaRoche ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) misses both games in Pittsburgh, with no option to utilize him as a designated hitter, and Jose Abreu locked in at first base. At 35, LaRoche's early season struggles shouldn't be overly surprising. He is hitting just .236, and expecting a significant bounce back is ill-advised. He is a low-end first base option in all formats.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche out against lefty

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 16:05:06 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche will come out of the lineup Tuesday, June 9, against the Houston Astros and LHP Dallas Keuchel. C Geovany Soto will act as the designated hitter and bat fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Soto ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting nearly .300 against lefties this season, although he's only registered 19 plate appearances. The White Sox entire lineup has essentially been a black hole in terms of fantasy production this season, but Soto could be combined with any other member of the offense FantasyScore owners are considering.

White Sox | Jose Abreu returns to lineup

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 15:01:04 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu (finger) is back in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Nick Martinez Wednesday, June 3, and he's serving as the designated hitter. 1B Adam LaRoche is playing first base and hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Abreu ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) missed a few games with an injured finger, he should remain a safe and solid FantasyScore option tonight against Martinez. Taking Abreu could work even better for your daily lineups today if some are scared off by his recent injury.

White Sox | Jose Abreu still out Tuesday

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 14:18:59 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu (finger) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday, June 2. 1B Adam LaRoche is starting at first base and hitting third in the batting order against Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis. 3B Conor Gillaspie is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Keep tabs on Abreu's progress in the coming days. LaRoche ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) could be a nice value play on FantasyScore this evening against Lewis. LaRoche has hit all six of his home runs this year against right-handers and owns an .820 OPS against them. Gillaspie ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is a lukewarm option these days for daily enthusiasts, and he's hitting just .252 (27-for-107) with two home runs against righties.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche not starting

Sun, 17 May 2015 10:38:12 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 17. 2B Emilio Bonifacio will serve as the designated hitter for the White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) probably is not playing since the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Bonifacio ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has not received a lot of playing time this season and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

White Sox | Jose Abreu to remain at first base

Tue, 05 May 2015 15:44:17 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu "is our first baseman," according to manager Robin Ventura. That means 1B Adam LaRoche will remain as the designated hitter and backup first baseman.

Fantasy Tip: Abreu ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has gotten off to a bit of a slow start .267 (23-for-86) despite hitting five home runs and driving in 15 relative to his breakout 2014 season. The White Sox as a team have been slumping lately, and there's no reason to believe Abreu won't pick it up eventually. He actually makes for a nice value play against Detroit Tigers starter Shane Greene tonight.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche exits early

Sun, 03 May 2015 18:54:01 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche (illness) was removed in the fifth inning against the Minnesota Twins Sunday, May 3. He was 1-fo-2 with a walk and a run scored before being replaced.

Fantasy Tip: An illness has been working its way through the White Sox, and it seems like LaRoche ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is the latest victim. Check on his status over the next couple of days before considering him at FantasyScore, but since the notoriously slow starter is hitting just .211, he isn't a great option even if he is 100%.
