White Sox | Trayce Thompson batting fifth

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 14:21:54 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Trayce Thompson is starting in right field and batting fifth against Seattle Mariners SP Roenis Elias Thursday, Aug. 27. 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the starting lineup Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is 10-for-17 with two home runs and five RBI against southpaws to start his major league career. It is obviously an unsustainable pace, but given Thompson's salary, he is worth a long look at FantasyScore Thursday. LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) stands to lose starts against lefties to the rookie going forward.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche out of the lineup

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 15:50:28 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 25. OF Trayce Thompson draws into the lineup and is batting fifth against Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley Tuesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Tuesday. The veteran is struggling through an awful campaign and doesn't warrant a roster spot in the majority of seasonal leagues. Thompson ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is 9-for-19 to start his career, and he checks out as an upside source of cap relief for FantasyScore players Tuesday.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche serving as DH

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 12:01:44 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche will bat sixth and serve as the designated hitter against Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker Sunday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is only batting .151 during the month of August and should be avoided in FantasyScore until he shows signs of turning things around offensively.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche busts his slump

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 05:02:06 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche broke out of a 1-for-24 slump at the plate with a single and a two-run homer Thursday, Aug. 20, in an 8-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($3,900, 7.6% of cap) knows he has been batting below his capabilities this season, even going so far as to tell the media he would have benched himself two months ago. Until he can prove this is not just one breakout game, it's best to keep him seated.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche in season-long slump

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 15:25:38 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche continues to ride the bench as he boasts a .208 average and .336 slugging percentage on the season. "Just another little breather, a few days to regroup. Get in the cage, get a feel back and see what happens. I can't blame him at all. I don't have a great argument to go in his office and talk my way back into a lineup at the moment. I feel bad putting him in this situation," LaRoche said. LaRoche isn't blaming his season-long slump on his full-time move to designated hitter, and his swing mechanics have been fine. Manager Robin Ventura said LaRoche will play again, but he won't be the everyday option at DH.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) slump has reached its breaking point for his owners, and now that he's losing playing time, too, it's hard to justify keeping him in deep mixed leagues. You'll obviously want to avoid him on FantasyScore, too, at least until he shows some signs of life at the plate.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche continues to sit

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 16:23:39 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche remains out of the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 19. OF Avisail Garcia will serve as the designated hitter again, and OF J.B. Shuck starts in right field and is hitting fifth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has struggled all season long and now hasn't started in three straight games. While he still is intriguing in deeper leagues for his power, it's becoming harder and harder to justify hanging onto him. Shuck ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has some daily upside tonight as a sleeper play against the soft-tossing Weaver.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche sitting again

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 16:02:19 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 18. OF Avisail Garcia is serving as the designated hitter, while OF J.B. Shuck is starting in right field and hitting fifth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Garrett Richards.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) continues to lose playing time as he struggles at the plate. It's becoming harder to keep him on a roster in deep mixed leagues. Shuck ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has potential as a sleeper on FantasyScore, but he's facing a pitcher that has been much better at home in a pitcher-friendly environment tonight.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche to start on bench

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 15:25:39 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim left-handed SP Andrew Heaney Monday, Aug. 17. OF Trayce Thompson is serving as the designated hitter and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has made a nice impression in his short stint with Chicago, going 6-for-12 with a home run and RBI. Over a full season, he has 20-20 potential, meaning he could be worth looking at as a successful deep sleeper in daily games. However, he's facing an Angels pitcher that has been even more impressive on the mound this season.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche out again

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 15:47:35 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is out of the lineup for the second straight day against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim left-handed SP Andrew Heaney Wednesday, Aug. 12. OF Adam Eaton is serving as the designated hitter, while OF Trayce Thompson is starting in center field and hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has a nice mix of speed and power, and he even homered in his start last night. However, he remains a deep sleeper at a cheap cost on FantasyScore against Heaney, who has really impressed in his stint with the Halos so far.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche taking day off

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 14:31:33 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim left-handed SP Hector Santiago Tuesday, Aug. 11. OF Melky Cabrera is serving as the designated hitter, which allows OF Trayce Thompson to start in left field. Thompson is hitting ninth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has a very interesting mix of power and speed from his days on the farm. However, hitting low in the batting order limits his FantasyScore value to deep sleeper status. He can also help you significantly with salary cap relief if you want to use him as a lottery ticket.
