Broncos | Demaryius Thomas to practice Wednesday

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 11:19:39 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) is "feeling better" and expected to return to practice Wednesday, Sept. 14, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas took part in "on-field work" on Monday and should be expected to play in Week 2 versus the Indianapolis Colts' depleted secondary barring a setback. While it doesn't figure to be as much of a factor this week given the Colts' defensive shortcomings, the bigger concern for Thomas and his owners figures to be a much more balanced offense that will be happy to make C.J. Anderson its centerpiece. Thomas should be considered a WR2.

Broncos | Cody Latimer 'nervous' in first two years

Sun, 14 Aug 2016 14:51:33 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer admitted to be "very hesitant" and "worried what everybody (such as retired QB Peyton Manning and head coach Gary Kubiak) thought" over his first two seasons. Latimer dropped weight in the offseason and is crediting his conditioning as one of the main reasons why he has stood out in training camp this summer. "Cody is in great condition. He can run all day, so you see him show up. The longer practices go, he tends to keep making plays. It's important to him. You can see it. It's a big year for him. We all know that. I think he's pushing really hard and doing a good job," Kubiak said.

Fantasy Tip: Latimer built on his solid camp with a seven-catch effort in the Broncos' preseason opener and now has to be considered the favorite for the No. 3 role behind Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders after Bennie Fowler suffered a small fracture in his elbow in the same game. Ability has never been a question for the 2014 second-round pick, so more solid preseason performances could lead to a potential fantasy-viable role down the road, although he's not quite there yet.

Broncos | Gary Kubiak has success against Pats

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 09:51:39 -0800

In 12 meetings since 2000, Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak's rushing offenses have averaged 28.3 carries for 122.4 yards (4.3 yards per carry) per game with 19 total touchdowns against New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Fantasy Tip: Both Ronnie Hillman ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) and C.J. Anderson ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) will be the focal point of the Pats defense this weekend after they both had big games in the Week 12 matchup. It won't be as easy for Denver's backs, though, with New England healthier on defense. Anderson is the more attractive daily option because of the way he closed out the divisional round win for the Broncos.

Broncos | Denver remains committed to the run

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 11:23:22 -0700

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak remains committed to getting the running game going. Kubiak and QB Peyton Manning continue to tinker with the offense to try and find the right fit, and the idea of rushing more in shotgun formations could be the ideal solution. Denver has 40 yards on 12 carries (.3.3 yards per attempt) and have gained just 97 yards on 35 carries under center (2.7 yards per attempt).

Fantasy Tip: Week 3 against the Detroit Lions provides optimism for a struggling Denver running game, as the Lions have been gashed by the San Diego Chargers and Minnesota Vikings on the ground. Both C.J. Anderson ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) and Ronnie Hillman ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) could both find room to run for those willing to take the chance on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Offense to be catered to Peyton Manning

Sat, 18 Apr 2015 18:07:33 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning won't be forced into a playbook that doesn't suit his gifts, according to head coach Gary Kubiak, and Kubiak added that it has been easy to mix his playbook with the playbook Denver used last season.

Fantasy Tip: Although Manning's lingering health concerns should keep him from being the first quarterback taken in fantasy drafts, he should still be considered a solid QB1 heading into the 2015 season.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson enters OTAs as starter

Sun, 29 Mar 2015 04:16:09 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will open OTAs in April as the starter, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson totaled 1,173 yards from scrimmage and put an end to the Broncos' endless woes at running back, at least for the second half of the season. A lot could change between OTAs and camp, but for now keep an eye on Anderson as he could go in higher rounds as a legitimate RB1 or RB2.
