Dodgers | Carl Crawford set for rehab stint

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 17:49:27 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (oblique) will begin a minor-league rehab stint with Class A Rancho Cucamonga Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: The team isn't in a giant hurry for Crawford to return, and he is expected to be the fourth outfielder when he is healthy enough to play for the big club. Andre Ethier ($3,500; or 7.0% of cap) has surpassed him on the depth chart and is a better FantasyScore option at this point.

Dodgers | Carl Crawford won't be starter

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 15:33:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (oblique) won't be the starting left fielder when he returns, according to manager Don Mattingly. "At this point, Andre's kind of taking that spot, to be honest with you," Mattingly said.

Fantasy Tip: If you were holding onto Crawford in a shallow mixed league, you shouldn't any longer. Ethier ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is a solid value play on FantasyScore against right-handed pitchers, against whom he has all nine of his home runs this year.

Dodgers | Carl Crawford not close to returning

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 15:18:24 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (oblique) is 10 days away from playing in games, but he'll likely need plenty of games after missing two months of action, according to manager Don Mattingly.

Fantasy Tip: There's really no reason to hang onto Crawford in shallow mixed leagues. Andre Ethier ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has basically become the team's everyday left fielder now, and he makes for a nice value pick against right-handed pitchers. All nine of Ethier's homer this year have come off of righties.

Dodgers | Carl Crawford begins running

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 16:30:51 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (oblique) has resumed running.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford is in the early stages of baseball activities after recovering from a serious oblique injury, which means he still has a ways to go to return to the Dodgers lineup. Alex Guerrero ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been filling in in left field the most with Crawford out, and he should continue to do so. Guerrero has cooled off a bit since a strong April, but he still makes for an acceptable FantasyScore play when he's in the lineup.

Dodgers | Carl Crawford to 60-day DL

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 15:06:23 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (oblique) was moved to the 60-day disabled list Monday, June 1.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) will now be out at least an additional four weeks while dealing with a torn oblique. Don't expect him to be much of a factor in the second half of the season after he returns. For now, Alex Guerrero ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) benefits the most with playing time in left field, and he certainly has the pop (nine homers in 93 at-bats) to be a value pick at FantasyScore.

Dodgers | Carl Crawford not close to returning

Sun, 17 May 2015 18:23:14 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (oblique) is not close to starting a rehab assignment as he continues to recover from a right oblique strain.

Fantasy Tip: There is still no definite timetable for Crawford's return. Andre Ethier ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) and Alex Guerrero ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) should continue to see extra starts, but both are matchup-based plays at FantasyScore.

Dodgers | Carl Crawford has torn oblique

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 15:44:33 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (oblique) has a torn oblique and is going on the disabled list. He received a cortisone shot.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford said it's a serious injury, and he's unsure of a timetable for a return. You'd have to imagine that he'll be out well past the two-week DL window. That opens up a clear path to more playing time for Alex Guerrero ($1,900, 3.8% of cap), who should now be owned in all leagues. The Cuban already has five home runs and 13 RBI in just 22 at-bats. However, he makes for a weak play tonight against San Francisco Giants starter Madison Bumgarner.

Dodgers | Carl Crawford leaves game

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 22:16:33 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (side) left the game Monday, April 27, against the San Francisco Giants due to tightness in his right side, according to the team.

Fantasy Tip: If Crawford is forced to miss time Alex Guerrero ($1,900; 3.8% of cap) and Scott Van Slyke ($2,000; 4.0% of cap) might see added at-bats to make them decent low-end FantasyScore options.

Dodgers | Carl Crawford out Wednesday

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 15:36:02 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 22. OF Scott Van Slyke is starting in left field and hitting fifth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner.

Fantasy Tip: Van Slyke ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) surely won't be a popular daily pick tonight against Bumgarner, but he could help you get ahead of your competition at FantasyScore. Besides, Van Slyke hit .315 (34-for-108) with eight of his 11 home runs against lefties in 2014, so he's not a terrible pick. He's also 4-for-13 with four walks in his career against Bumgarner.

Dodgers | Carl Crawford scratched Sunday

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 11:20:37 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (illness) is not in the starting lineup against the Colorado Rockies Sunday, April 19, because of flu-like symptoms. OF Scott Van Slyke will start in his place in left field.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will miss his second consecutive start due to illness but could be back in action when the team begins their road trip Tuesday, April 21. Van Slyke ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is a career .300 hitter against Rockies pitching and makes a good sleeper option in FantasyScore.
