|White Sox | Justin Morneau takes batting practice|
Sat, 25 Jun 2016 11:18:39 -0700
Chicago White Sox 1B Justin Morneau (elbow) said he felt good after taking his first round of on-field batting practice Saturday, June 25. Prior to that, he had taken flips on the field in a batting cage earlier this week.
Fantasy Tip: The 35-year-old veteran is unlikely to return to action until after the All-Star break and can still be productive when healthy. He's worth rostering in AL-only fantasy formats and owners in deep mixed leagues should also keep tabs on his progress.

|White Sox | Justin Morneau back after break|
Fri, 10 Jun 2016 09:06:07 -0700
Chicago White Sox 1B Justin Morneau (elbow) said he expects to be back sometime after the All-Star break. He was signed to a one-year, $1 million deal Thursday, June 9. He'll have a prorated base salary of $633,800 and can make as much as $2.5 million more in performance bonuses based on up to 400 plate appearances. The White Sox have been looking for a lefty bat.
Fantasy Tip: The 35-year-old veteran has a long list of injuries in his career, but he managed to hit .310 with three home runs and 15 RBI in 182 plate appearances for the Rockies last year while dealing with his elbow issue. He's worth a cheap flyer in AL-only leagues for now, but how much playing time he'll receive is a big question. Keep him on your radar in deep mixed formats until he can prove his health.

|White Sox | Justin Morneau placed on DL|
Thu, 09 Jun 2016 13:15:16 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Reiterating a previous tip, Morneau is likely worth a speculative add in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, but you'll obviously have to take a wait-and-see approach with the 35-year-old veteran. How much playing time he'll receive down the line is unknown, too. Plus, there is no telling how effective he'll be at the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Morneau underwent surgery in December to fix a tendon in his elbow, and his original timeline has him on track to begin upping his baseball activities at any time now. He is a potential grab and stash in cavernous mixed and AL-only setups, but you should keep expectations in check. Morneau's 35 and played just 49 games last year.

|MLB | Justin Morneau to sit out half the season|
Thu, 17 Mar 2016 15:03:15 -0700
Free-agent 1B Justin Morneau (elbow) had surgery in December to fix a tendon in his elbow and will not be able to swing until June. He has not ruled out a return later this year if a team gives him a shot.
Fantasy Tip: The 34-year-old did hit .310 last year, but he played in just 49 games due to concussion issues. The aging vet has plenty of injury concerns and has seen his power drop in recent seasons. Morneau can still hold his own against righties, which could make him a daily bargain in the second half of the season if a team takes a chance on him.

|MLB | No market for Justin Morneau?|
Mon, 14 Mar 2016 04:51:14 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Morneau hit .310-3-15 last year in only 49 games, as neck and head issues conspired to ruin a follow-up season to 2014, where he won the National League batting crown. If he lands a job, consider Morneau as an end-of-draft selection in mixed leagues or even a free agent taken off the board once the season starts.

|Pirates | Pittsburgh out on Justin Morneau |
Thu, 17 Dec 2015 12:28:29 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Morneau was limited to just 49 games in 2015, and entering his age-35 season, there are a lot of risks attached to his fantasy stock. Stay tuned for where he signs and what his projected role will be. There is upside in the right situation, but it is difficult to top hitting at Coors Field, so Morneau is likely only an option in only-universes and cavernous mixed formats. Additionally, he hasn't topped the 20-homer benchmark since belting 30 in 2009.

|Rockies | Justin Morneau's option declined|
Thu, 05 Nov 2015 10:47:02 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Morneau had a nice renaissance in Colorado, but his concussion issues resurfaced. If he lands in the right situation, he could be an option at the end of traditional drafts.

|Rockies | COL declines option on Justin Morneau|
Thu, 29 Oct 2015 17:22:49 -0700
The Colorado Rockies have declined their mutual option with 1B Justin Morneau for the 2016 season. He would have earned $9 million next year if the team had decided to keep him but he will receive a $750,000 buyout instead.
Fantasy Tip: The 34-year-old Morneau will now become a free agent. He hit .310 with three home runs and 15 RBIs over 168 at-bats but has been plagued by injuries over the last few seasons. Don't be surprised if he latches on with an American League team that can give him an opportunity to serve as a DH.

Fantasy Tip: Rosario ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is batting .267 with one home run and seven RBIs since Sept. 1, and should be considered by FantasyScore owners who are searching for a value option at first base today.
