Nationals | Jayson Werth sitting out Thursday

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 10:18:54 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth is out of the lineup Thursday, April 23.

Fantasy Tip: Clint Robinson ($1,600, 3.2% of your cap) had a three-hit game balloon his average to .292, but he hasn't done much else. He could be worth a flyer later in the season, but avoid him on FantasyScore against Michael Wacha.

Nationals | Jayson Werth hitless in debut

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 17:51:17 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (shoulder) was hitless in three at-bats in his season debut against the Boston Red Sox Monday, April 13, after being activated from the disabled list. He had surgery on his right shoulder in January.

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) admitted that he's not sure how his power stroke will be affected initially upon his return to major league action. Until he gets back into the swing of things against top-level competition, you should try to avoid him at FantasyScore.

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (shoulder) is starting in left field and hitting fourth in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello in his season debut Monday, April 13.

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) just finished a rehab assignment and was activated from the 15-day disabled list to make his season debut Monday. It'd probably be wise to avoid Werth at FantasyScore until he at least gets a few games under his belt.

Nationals | Jayson Werth returns

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 08:01:01 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($4,000, 8.0% of your cap) only had six at-bats in his rehab assignment at Class A Potomac, but his one hit was a homer. Give Werth a couple of games to get his feet wet before considering him on FantasyScore. He is at a nice price, though, once he's acclimated.

Nationals | Jayson Werth to begin rehab this week

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 10:08:19 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (shoulder) said he considered playing on opening day Monday, April 6, but he will instead take live batting practice Tuesday, April 7, and begin a short rehab assignment Thursday, April 9.

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should probably be held out of FantasyScore lineups immediately upon his return, as he may be slow to start the 2015 season because of his shoulder injury. Michael Taylor ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is a sneaky FantasyScore play in an outfield spot against Bartolo Colon and the New York Mets Monday.

Nationals | Jayson Werth close to returning

Sat, 04 Apr 2015 11:01:57 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (shoulder) played five innings and received four at-bats in a minor league game Friday, April 3, and manager Matt Williams estimated that he could be about one week away from returning to action, barring any setbacks. "Throwing's fine. Running's fine," Williams said. "His legs, per our progression, have been underneath him because he's playing so many innings - even when he's not hitting he's out there playing innings. So I think his legs are okay. His throwing's fine. It's a question of him getting at-bats and getting timing."

Fantasy Tip: Werth should be stashed in seasonal formats and avoided in FantasyScore during the first week of the regular season. Recently-acquired OF Matt dan Dekker may wind up receiving regular playing time in Werth's absence.
