Nationals | Jayson Werth lands on DL

Tue, 19 May 2015 10:40:25 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (wrist) was placed on the disabled list with a left wrist contusion Tuesday, May 19. INF Wilmer Difo was called up from Class AA Harrisburg (Pa.) in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: With Werth out, Michael Taylor ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) should see regular playing time in left field. Taylor can be useful as a sleeper at FantasyScore, mainly for his speed, and he'll be more attractive if he hits at the top of the batting order. Difo figures to be a bat off the bench, and he's only attractive to owners in deep NL-only leagues.

Nationals | Jayson Werth undergoes MRI

Mon, 18 May 2015 22:34:51 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (wrist) underwent an MRI on his injured wrist Monday, May 18, but it did not show any fractures or ligament damage in his wrist, according to a source. It is not known if Werth will need to be placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) likely will sit out a few more game since he is dealing with swelling in the wrist. Owners should avoid using Werth until more is known about his status. Tyler Moore ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and Michael Taylor ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) could receive playing time while Werth is sidelined but may not be great options on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Jayson Werth's X-rays are negative

Sat, 16 May 2015 05:12:18 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth's (wrist) X-rays on his left wrist were negative, and he will be re-evaluated Saturday, May 16, according to manager Matt Williams. Werth left the game Friday, May 15, after he was hit by a pinch on his left wrist in the second inning.

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has had multiple surgeries on the wrist, so the X-ray results are a positive spin. However, the potential of another nagging injury is the last thing fantasy owners want to deal with. Werth has just two extra-base hits this season and is sporting a .208 batting average. Continue to check back for updates on his status and whether he'll miss any time.

Nationals | Jayson Werth back in lineup

Fri, 08 May 2015 12:35:51 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (shoulder) is batting third and playing left field against the Atlanta Braves Friday, May 8.

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is off to a slow start in 2015. He missed time early with a shoulder injury, and is currently sporting a lowly .176/.247/.203 slash line without a home run and just eight runs and seven RBI. FantasyScore players should likely aim higher Friday, and seasonal owners should consider benching Werth until his bat heats up.

Wed, 06 May 2015 08:56:25 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Werth ($3,700, 7.4% of your cap) is slated for a good matchup against Atlanta Braves lefty Eric Stults Friday. He might not be a bad start on FantasyScore if he can get an at-bat tonight and return Friday.

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth is out of the lineup again Wednesday, May 6.
