The Star-Ledger reports ex-Jet, and current Seahawk, QB Glenn Foley has no hard feelings about being sent to the Seattle Seahawks earlier this year. "[Mike] Holmgren told me it's an open competition," Foley said. "I'm going to compete and try to win the job. ... Regardless of the (quarterback) situation, we're going to have a good team next year." QB Jon Kitna remains the favorite to be the starter on opening day.

The AP reports that Titans PK Al Del Greco will lead a group of 26 current and former NFL players into the third round of the Cadillac Golf Classic. His two round total of 145 led Chargers C David Binn by four shots and Seattle QB Glenn Foley by five shots. Defending champ, Bucs QB Trent Dilfer, skipped the first two days of the golf tournament to attend his team's minicamp. He was granted an exemption and since the scores start over on Friday, he'll move right back in to play the last two days.

The Bergen Record reports in a story published this morning the Jets are still trying to do something with QB Glenn Foley but as of now he remains in limbo. Two teams are reportedly talking to the Jets about his services. As reported earlier, the Bears are one of those teams and Seattle is said to be the second team as Mike Holmgren continues to look for competition for QB Jon Kitna. If the Jets cannot work out the right trade then they could restructure Foley's contract (if he agrees) and keep him on their roster. Word is Seattle won't offer more than a No. 3 pick for Foley since they lost their No. 2 selection when they signed Holmgren. The latest from the Bears is "we're going to stay where we are for now," Chicago pro personnel director Rick Spielman said Friday. "We're not in a hurry to make a deal, and the Jets don't seem to be either." As reported earlier the Jets would like to do something before March 24th when Foley is due a workout bonus and the Seahawks reportedly would like to do something before their March 31st QB camp opens.

The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears met with Free Agent QB Heath Shuler earlier today but he does not appear to be in their future plans. The Bears are expected to draft a QB early in the upcoming draft and Shuler feels that's a situation he does not want to get into. "If a team's in a situation where they say, "We're definitely going to go after our quarterback of the future," then that's certainly not a place I want to be," Shuler said. The Bears remain "interested" in Tony Banks (StL) and Glenn Foley (NYJ) although not much is taking place on those fronts. Reportedly the Jets will potentially shop LB James Farrior since they have come to an agreement with LB Roman Phifer, and the Bears would have some interest in Farrior if he is shopped.

The Jets are very much in the running for S Steve Atwater who is expected to make his decision in the next day or two from amongst the Jets, Chiefs and Eagles. Money is an issue here and since the Jets are up against the cap they are trying to get QB Glenn Foley to restructure his contract. They are still expecting to lose OL Matt O'Dwyer to Pittsburgh and hope to sign OT Blake Brockermeyer to play guard to replace him but he may sign with Cleveland, Chicago or the Panthers and the Jets are not considered a front runner for him. Jacksonville LB Bryan Schwartz has visited the team, as they are expected to have to replace LB Dwayne Gordon who may leave in free agency.
