Tigers | Miguel Cabrera crushing Cleveland

Sun, 26 Apr 2015 19:09:47 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs in an 8-6 win over the Cleveland Indians Sunday, April 26, and all three of his home runs and nine of his 13 RBIs this year have come against Cleveland.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is a must-start option at FantasyScore against the Indians, and considering he is hitting .377 overall with a 1.043 OPS, he is one of the safer options available regardless of the opponent.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera has hot weekend

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 12:15:31 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera went 11-for-14 against the Cleveland Indians over the weekend, with two home runs and a double. He also recorded a stolen base.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has better hand-eye coordination at the plate, but another reason for the hot start may be his freedom from injuries. His overall health is the best it's been in a couple of years. Cabrera had groin surgery in 2013 and foot surgery in 2014, and both injuries appear to have healed nicely. Also keep in mind he took time to get better and didn't race to the plate when the season started. He came back on his terms. Take advantage of this hot start and put him in your lineup as much as possible.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera records milestone

Sun, 12 Apr 2015 13:57:58 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera recorded back-to-back four-hit games over the weekend. It is the first time since Curtis Granderson (June 26 and 27, 2008) that a Tiger has done this.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has seen his price drop a little due to injuries, but he's still a great buy at this salary. Any injury issues that dogged Cabrera at the start of the year appear to have vanished.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera quiet in opener

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 18:25:51 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera (ankle) was hitless in four at-bats against the Minnesota Twins Monday, April 6.

Fantasy Tip: Miggy was a major dud for FantasyScore owners at $6,300 (or 12.6% of cap), especially considering he entered the game 16-for-31 (.516) with five homers and 12 RBI in his career against Phil Hughes. He is 2-for-9 (.222) with five strikeouts lifetime against Ricky Nolasco, Wednesday's probable starter, so save your money.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera in the lineup

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 06:50:26 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera (ankle) is in the opening day lineup at first base and hitting third Monday, April 6.

Fantasy Tip: Miggy ($6,300, 12.6% of your cap) hit .345-3-8 in 29 spring at-bats and looks to be good for a high-end 1B spot on FantasyScore.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez go deep

Thu, 26 Mar 2015 14:03:31 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera (foot, ankle) and DH Victor Martinez (knee) both hit home runs in the spring game Thursday, March 26. Cabrera's home run was a line drive that looked like his swings from two or three years ago. He also nearly homered on a sacrifice fly to right field in the game. Cabrera will take the day off Friday, March 27, before playing in three straight games.

Fantasy Tip: It's great news to see both Miggy and V-Mart go deep in the same game after they were both behind in spring training due to injuries. Cabrera's old line drive stroke is a welcome sight for those that selected him later in the first round of fantasy drafts. If Cabrera stays healthy, he should continue to produce like a first-rounder.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera plays the field

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 16:59:40 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera (foot, ankle) played first base for the first time this spring Wednesday, March 25. He made a diving stop on a hard grounder in the game and went 0-for-2 at the plate. "I'm just glad to back on the field playing first base," Cabrera said. "I can play defense and I want to be back at first. I'm seeing the ball, getting my timing down. It's a good sign."

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) should be good to go for opening day, and it's a great sign that he looked good on defense today. Despite injury and aging concerns, Miggy remains a first-round pick (later in the round) in 2015 fantasy baseball drafts. You may want to shy away from him in the first week of the season at FantasyScore, though, as he gets his timing down from missing time this spring.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera in at 1B Wednesday

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 08:18:50 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera (foot) will start at first base in the spring game Wednesday, March 25.

Fantasy Tip: It would be Cabrera's first action in the field this spring, and it's a great sign he is on track to be ready for the season opener. Miggy ($6,300, 12.6% of your cap) is a top player to consider on FantasyScore.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera to DH Tuesday

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 09:13:10 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera (foot, ankle) will serve as the designated hitter in the spring game Tuesday, March 24, and he might be ready to move to first base during games. Cabrera made his Grapefruit League debut Sunday, March 22, and went 1-for-3 with a single and two strikeouts. Manager Brad Ausmus said the chances are better than 50% that Cabrera will be ready for opening day.

Fantasy Tip: While Cabrera may be limited to start the 2015 season, the good news is that he hasn't suffered any setbacks so far this spring. Despite the fact that he's an aging slugger who now has injury concerns, he should be considered in the late part of the first round of fantasy baseball drafts.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera playing Sunday

Sun, 22 Mar 2015 08:52:07 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera (ankle, foot) is in the starting lineup for the split squad game against the Washington Nationals Sunday, March 22. Cabrera is serving as the designated hitter in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera could be limited to the role of designated hitter in the first few games but should see time at first base at some point during the start of the regular season. Cabrera should be an option in the first round of most drafts if he is ready for the season.
