Updating a previous report, Texas Rangers OF Alex Rios (thumb, ankle) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 27, to rest his thumb injury that has been bothering him for five weeks now. Rios is hitting just .196 with no home runs and 10 RBIs in 30 games since the All-Star break. "It's sore," Rios said. "It's causing me to make adjustments in my swing that I don't want to do. Those things have implications, and I do things I'm not supposed to be doing. It affects you." The Rangers have no plans to shut Rios down for the remainder of the year, though. He's also been dealing with a sprained ankle since around the All-Star break, which has caused him to use more of his hands in his swing. X-rays on Rios' thumb last week showed no fractures.

Texas Rangers OF Alex Rios (ankle) participated in several tests on the field before the game Friday, Aug. 15, to see if he was able to play with his injured ankle. The team decided Rios was ready to play and started him in right field.
Fantasy Tip: Rios could receive a day off every once in a while to rest the injured ankle, but it appears he will be able to play on a regular basis. Owners should keep him in their lineups unless he suffers a setback.

Manager Ron Washington intended to give him an extra day off even after he was cleared. "I just have to be smart," Rios said. "If it doesn't feel good, taking a few days off may be a good thing. I don't want to miss any more time, but you don't want to go through the season with more pain than you have to."
Fantasy Tip: Rios is likely to return to the lineup Wednesday, but daily fantasy owners will want to give him at least one or two games to get back, shake off the rust and prove he can make it through a full game before plugging him back into the active lineup.
