Royals | Alex Rios, Kelvin Herrera recovering

Fri, 04 Sep 2015 09:19:28 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios (illness) and RP Kelvin Herrera (illness) are both recovering quickly from chickenpox, and both could come to the field Friday, Sept. 4, for a workout. The team is confident that no other players have come down with chickenpox. Both Rios and Herrera have experienced only minor symptoms.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Rios ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) and Herrera are recovering nicely, it still may be a few weeks before they return to action. The Royals have a comfortable division lead and probably wouldn't want to risk infecting others right before another postseason run. Neither player has any real value in any fantasy league for the remainder of this season.

Royals | Alex Rios has chickenpox

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 14:19:34 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios (illness) has been infected with chickenpox and could miss at least two weeks, according to team officials. Rios left the team over the weekend and flew to Kansas City, and an examination confirmed it Monday, Aug. 31.

Fantasy Tip: With only a month left in the regular season, Rios ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is unlikely to be of much use to his fantasy owners. Cutting him in deep mixed leagues is probably the right course of action. Jarrod Dyson ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) and recently acquired Jonny Gomes ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) can offset the loss of Rios temporarily. Dyson is the better fantasy target for his speed.

Royals | Alex Rios dealing with virus

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 17:26:34 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios (illness) was sent back to Kansas City Sunday, Aug. 30, as he deals with a virus.

Fantasy Tip: Rios ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) should be back in the lineup in the next couple of days, but with just two homers and 22 RBI in 300 at-bats this season, he doesn't have much value at FantasyScore.

Royals | No Alex Rios vs. O's

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 12:17:06 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 26. OF Paulo Orlando is starting in right field and is hitting eighth against Baltimore Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen.

Fantasy Tip: Orlando ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) doesn't really do anything that stands out for fantasy owners, and his low lineup positioning doesn't make him attractive at all on FantasyScore tonight.

Royals | No Alex Rios Tuesday

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 13:57:42 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 11. OF Paulo Orlando is starting in right field and hitting eighth, while OF Jarrod Dyson is starting in left field and batting ninth against Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez.

Fantasy Tip: Dyson ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is the FantasyScore player to own tonight, but his daily value has a ceiling because of his low placement in the lineup. Dyson has incredible speed but struggles to get on base with a .325 on-base percentage.

Royals | No Alex Rios Thursday

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 13:34:37 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 30. OF Jarrod Dyson is starting in right field and is hitting ninth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada.

Fantasy Tip: The acquisition of Ben Zobrist could wind up hurting Rios the most. Dyson ($3,800, 7.6% of cap), who has been very valuable for his speed for KC, could wind up in a platoon situation with either Zobrist or Rios. Dyson is a value pick on FantasyScore for his stolen base threat, but hitting at the bottom of the order limits his upside.

Royals | Alex Rios stays hot

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 20:24:50 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios went 2-for-3 with a run and a double during the Royals' 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Tuesday, July 21.

Fantasy Tip: Rios ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) entered the game riding a 20-for-63 run over his past 17 games, and while his counting stats aren't adding up in bunches, he does have 12 runs and four stolen bases over his past 18 outings. FantasyScore players have a potential bargain in Rios while he is locked in at the dish.

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios isn't in the starting lineup Sunday, July 5. OF Jarrod Dyson will start in right field and hit eighth in the order against the Minnesota Twins and RHP Ervin Santana.

Fantasy Tip: Dyson's ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) upside comes via stolen bases, making him a risky play on FantasyScore. Owners willing to take the risk an use Dyson for some cap relief in GPP tournaments.

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 08:08:32 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios is not in the starting lineup Saturday, June 6. OF Jarrod Dyson is starting in right field and is batting ninth in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Rios ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has played in the last five games and is likely receiving a day off. Dyson ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is hitting only .219 in his limited playing time this season and may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.
