Updating an earlier report, Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios (finger) has a non-displaced fracture in his left pinkie. General manager Dayton Moore said Rios' timetable isn't clear, but he should be out between three and six weeks. OFs Jarrod Dyson and Paulo Orlando will split time in Rios' absence.
Fantasy Tip: Dyson ($2,400, 4.8% of your cap) stole 36 bags in a half-season worth of at-bats last year. The 29-year-old Orlando ($1,600, 3.2%) hit .301 with six homers, 63 RBI and 34 steals in a full season at Triple-A last year. The left-handed hitting Dyson will likely play most of the time with Orlando likely to face lefties. Both are speculative flyers on FantasyScore for their wheels. Prospect OF Brett Eibner is unlikely to be called up.

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios (hand) suffered a fractured left hand Monday, April 13, and he will be put on the disabled list. There is no timetable for his return to action.
Fantasy Tip: Rios ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) was off to a good start, too, going 9-for-28 with a home run in his first seven games with his new squad. Fantasy owners in standard leagues should stash him in a DL spot. Coming back from a broken hand can be tough for a hitter, as it can sap them of much of their strength. Keep an eye on that. Paulo Orlando ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Jarrod Dyson ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) should see more time as a result. Dyson is the much more attractive fantasy option for his excellent speed.

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios had three hits in his team debut Monday, April 6, against the Chicago White Sox, including a three-run home run and a stolen base.
Fantasy Tip: The wind was blowing out fiercely to left field and the Royals got the ball up in the jetstream for a pair of homers. At $4,100 (or 8.2% of cap) Rios is a solid play in FantasyScore.

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios (thumb) said his jammed thumb is feeling better but he will have to manage the condition throughout the season.
Fantasy Tip: It would be a good idea to monitor Rios over the next week ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) before you consider using him in your FantasyScore lineups, in order to insure that his thumb injury is not negatively impacting his production.

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios (thumb) will sit out the next two or three days with a jammed thumb.
Fantasy Tip: It's the same thumb he injured last season. Rios ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is a low-end outfield option on FantasyScore. Monitor him the next week to ensure it doesn't hinder him heading into the regular season.

Kansas City Royals OF Lorenzo Cain could hit third in the lineup for the 2015 season, with SS Alcides Escobar at leadoff and OF Alex Rios in the No. 2 spot. Cain hit .321/.367/.429 in the final two weeks of the season last year in the No. 3 position, and he was .333/.388/.417 in the same spot in the playoffs. "I don't remember ever batting third before that," Cain said. "But whatever helps make us go, I'm for it. Once he changed the lineup, we kind of took off. But whatever works, I'm for it."
