Mets | No Wilmer Flores vs. Washington

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 14:09:21 -0700

New York Mets 3B Wilmer Flores is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 29. INF/OF Kelly Johnson is starting at third base and batting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Flores has started 21 games in June and owns a solid .306/.370/.444 slash line for the month with 12 RBI. He's in the deep mixed and NL-only conversation as long as he's receiving consistent playing time. While Johnson is a respectable 11-for-35 since joining the Mets, it is a daunting matchup against Scherzer, and no one should fret fading Johnson Wednesday.

Mets | Several NYM regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 08:43:10 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera, OF Curtis Granderson and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Bud Norris Sunday, June 26. INF/OF Kelly Johnson will bat leadoff and play left field, INF Matthew Reynolds will play shortstop and bat second, OF Brandon Nimmo will play right field and bat seventh and C Rene Rivera will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds is 7-for-20 with a home run and six RBI during the month of June and is worth considering as a value play for daily fantasy lineups. Nimmo will be making his MLB debut and possesses plenty of upside, so he could be worth taking a flier on in DFS as well. Johnson and Rivera are a combined 1-for-11 versus Norris and should be avoided Sunday.

Mets | Kelly Johnson starting at third vs. Braves

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 12:29:39 -0700

New York Mets INF/OF Kelly Johnson is starting at third base and batting sixth against Atlanta Braves SP John Gant Friday, June 17. SS Wilmer Flores (hand) is not in the starting lineup Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Flores and Johnson were expected to split time at third while the Mets figure out to do at the hot corner following David Wright's neck surgery, which could end his season. Johnson could see the majority of looks in the immediate future after Flores was hit by a pitch in the hand Thursday, June 16. Regardless of how it all plays out, though, Johnson and Flores are low-end fantasy options in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.

Mets | Wilmer Flores suffers bruised left hand

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 17:19:46 -0700

New York Mets 3B Wilmer Flores (hand) suffered a bruised left hand after being hit by a pitch from Pittsburgh Pirates SP Juan Nicasio during the bottom of the second inning Thursday, June 16. However, he remained in the game until the bottom of the third inning, when INF Kelly Johnson pinch-hit for him. X-rays for Flores came back negative.

Fantasy Tip: Flores' injury appears to be minor, although it remains uncertain if he will be able to return to the lineup Friday, June 17. If he is out for an extended period of time, expect Johnson to receive most of the action at the hot corner.

Mets | New-look lineup for Mets

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 14:58:18 -0700

Updating a previous report, OF Kelly Johnson is starting in left field and batting fifth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Wednesday, June 15, after OF Juan Lagares (thumb) was a late scratch. SS Asdrubal Cabrera is now batting second, and INF Wilmer Flores is hitting fourth.

Fantasy Tip: There are limited fantasy ramifications here. Flores receives a boost hitting behind the three best hitters in the lineup and could be a viable low-priced option in daily contests. Johnson also is a potential DFS flier, except he's just 22-for-99 (.222 batting average) against left-handed hurlers since the beginning of 2014.

Mets | Neil Walker not in Tuesday lineup

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 12:57:00 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker (back) is out of the game Tuesday, June 14, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. 2B Kelly Johnson will start and hit fifth against Pirates SP Jameson Taillon.

Fantasy Tip: Between this and a .176 average in the past week, Walker might be due for a rest. Johnson is 3-for-8 with a home run against the Pirates, so he may be worth the flyer in DFS leagues.

Mets | Three Mets starters sitting out

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 09:42:49 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker, SS Asdrubal Cabrera and C Rene Rivera are not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Zach Davies Sunday, June 12. INF Matt Reynolds will start at shortstop and is batting second. 2B Kelly Johnson will start at second base and is batting fourth, while C Kevin Plawecki will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Plawecki and Johnson have posted decent numbers over the last seven days. Johnson should be considered by owners in daily fantasy lineups, while Plawecki can be used in two-catcher leagues. Reynolds is not a strong fantasy option and should be avoided in all leagues.

Mets | Neil Walker leaves with back tightness

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 15:30:01 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker (back) left the game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the bottom of the fourth inning Saturday, June 11, with lower back tightness. Newly acquired INF Kelly Johnson was called upon to replace Walker.

Fantasy Tip: It's been a rough three days for Walker, who took a hard-hit grounder off his chest on Thursday that some feared initially may have broken a rib and ended up leaving the second baseman light-headed. It is much too early to speculate whether or not Walker is going to need a stint on the disabled list, but the Mets do have top prospect Dilson Herrera waiting in the wings. Until New York makes a move in that direction, however, owners would be advised to play Johnson if Walker is forced to miss only a day or two.

Mets | Neil Walker sitting with chest injury

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 13:50:35 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker (chest) is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 10, after he was hit in the chest with a hard ground ball during the game Thursday, June 9. INF/OF Kelly Johnson is starting at the keystone and batting seventh against Milwaukee Brewers SP Junior Guerra Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Walker is off to a great start for New York and owns a .275/.348/.485 slash line with 25 runs, 13 home runs and 25 RBI. He is a viable starter at second base in the majority of seasonal leagues. Johnson is nothing more than low-end option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.

Mets | Kelly Johnson officially joins Mets

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 13:03:24 -0700

New York Mets INF/OF Kelly Johnson was added to the 25-man roster Friday, June 10. In a corresponding move, 3B Ty Kelly was optioned to Class AAA Las Vegas Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson owns a .215/.273/.289 slash line through 132 plate appearances this season and should be left to cavernous mixed and NL-only setups. Kelly can be replaced in all fantasy formats.
