Yankees | Chris Capuano starting Sunday

Fri, 15 May 2015 15:27:59 -0700

New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano is starting against the Kansas City Royals Sunday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Capuano ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has only thrown 14 2/3 innings over three minor league starts this season, and the start Sunday will be his season debut at the highest level. The Royals are the third-ranked scoring team in baseball, and they have a .308/361/.456 slash line against left-handed starters this season. Start Capuano at your own risk in all fantasy formats Sunday.

Yankees | Chris Capuano to enter rotation

Thu, 14 May 2015 20:38:28 -0700

New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano will replace SP Chase Whitley (elbow) in the rotation, manager Joe Girardi said Thursday, May 14.

Fantasy Tip: Capuano ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is coming back from a quadriceps injury, and after posting a 4.35 ERA in 12 starts with the Yankees last year, there is no reason to take a chance on him at FantasyScore whenever he makes his first start of 2015.

Yankees | Chris Capuano solid in rehab game

Tue, 12 May 2015 22:39:13 -0700

New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano (quadriceps) allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings in a minor-league rehab game for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Pa.) Tuesday, May 12.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if Capuano will return to the starting lineup or work in a long relief role upon his return. He is worth a look in AL-only weekly formats if you have roster flexibility.

Yankees | Chris Capuano to throw Tuesday

Mon, 11 May 2015 22:50:09 -0700

New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano (quadriceps) is scheduled to throw approximately 90 pitches for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Pa.) Tuesday, May 12, in what might be one of his final rehab outings.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if Cappy will return to the starting rotation or if he'll work in long relief. FantasyScore players will want to wait and see him officially return and prove his health before trusting him again.

Yankees | Chris Capuano makes rehab start

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 22:31:48 -0700

New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano (quadriceps) worked two hitless innings in an extended spring game start Wednesday, April 22. "No problems," Capuano said. "A little rusty with the pitches." He threw 18 of his 24 pitches for strikes.

Fantasy Tip: Capuano is expected to return in mid-May, and his role is yet to be determined. He might work in the rotation or he could be used in long relief. FantasyScore owners need to avoid him until his role becomes more clear.

Yankees | Chris Capuano still a ways off

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 21:11:13 -0700

New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano (quadriceps) is still about a month away from coming off the 15-day disabled list, manager Joe Girardi said Wednesday, April 15.

Fantasy Tip: Capuano is making his way back from a strained right quadriceps. FantasyScore need not bother with Capuano until he can officially return and knock off the rust in at least a start or two.

Yankees | Chris Capuano headed for DL?

Sat, 14 Mar 2015 14:40:10 -0700

New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano (quadriceps) could miss the first month of the regular season due to a strained right quadriceps. He suffered the injury while running to cover first base against the Boston Red Sox Wednesday, March 11. Capuano received a platelet-rich plasma injection as treatment for the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Capuano, who had been battling for the fifth spot in the Yankees' starting rotation, is hoping that he will only be sidelined for one or two weeks instead of an entire month. He is unlikely to be drafted now due to this setback but should be monitored in AL-only fantasy leagues.

Yankees | Chris Capuano nursing strain

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 21:58:25 -0700

New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano (quadriceps) has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 strained right quadriceps muscle. He suffered the injury covering first base in the Grapefruit League spring game Wednesday, March 11, against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Capuano is battling for the No. 5 spot in the rotation, but if he is forced out of action for a while it might hurt his chances. He is a decent low-end option in AL-only fantasy leagues, but if he loses out on the job his fantasy appeal goes away.

Yankees | Chris Capuano favorite for fifth spot?

Sun, 15 Feb 2015 18:08:45 -0800

New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano was re-signed in the offseason, and general manager Brian Cashman made it clear he was expected to fill a rotation spot. The team is leaning in that direction, so Capuano might be the favorite for the fifth spot in the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Capuano will have a strong offense supporting him, but he also will be pitching a majority of his games in the ultra-competition American League East. He'll be a decent value in FantasyScore, but you will need to pick and choose your spots wisely.
