Ravens | Baltimore a run-first team

Fri, 01 Jul 2016 13:07:55 -0700

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said the Ravens will continue to be a run-first team in 2016. "We're always looking at ourselves as a team that should be able to run the ball first," Trestman said. "That's just the way we want to play it, and everything starts with the physicality of our run game, and the physicality of our runner. That's how we coach offense here, and everything starts there."

Fantasy Tip: Justin Forsett and Javorius Allen will be the top two running backs this season should receive a decent amount of carries each game. Forsett should be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in most leagues, while Allen can be selected in the late rounds of drafts.

Ravens | Baltimore in better shape offensively

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 10:36:28 -0700

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he believes the offense is in better shape than it was last year because it will be the second year under offensive coordinator Marc Trestman, who will have more control of the offense. Trestman said the main focus for the offense is to cut down on the turnovers in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Joe Flacco should be ready for the start of the season but should be considered as a No. 2 quarterback in most leagues. Justin Forsett and Javorius Allen will be solid options for owners since they will both receive playing time. The team's wide receivers are a question mark since Steve Smith and Breshad Perriman are dealing with injury. Smith should be a middle-round option if he is healthy. Mike Wallace and Kamar Aiken could be sleeper candidates if Smith and Perriman are not ready for the season.

Ravens | Marc Trestman plans to use running game

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 16:02:21 -0700

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said Saturday, Aug. 1, he plans to emphasize the team's running game in 2015. "Ravens football starts with the running game, and that doesn't mean you're not going to throw the ball," Trestman said via ESPN.com. "But the emphasis here is we want to be a great running football team and we have the players to do that. So that's where we start," said Trestman.

Fantasy Tip: Justin Forsett will be expected to get the majority of the work, although fellow running backs Lorenzo Taliaferro and Fitzgerald Toussaint should also factor in. Forsett will be a sure-fire RB1 to begin the season.

Ravens | Marc Trestman wants to learn, not take over

Wed, 21 Jan 2015 12:44:55 -0800

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said he wants to learn the specificities of the team's offense instead of changing it. Head coach John Harbaugh said Trestman's familiarity and success with a West Coast offense were prominent factors in the team's decision to hire Trestman.

Fantasy Tip: We still don't know what will happen with Ray Rice or Justin Forsett, but the offense as a whole should benefit with the addition of Trestman. That being said, there's always the risk of rustiness to start off the year.

Ravens | Hire Marc Trestman as OC

Free-agent head coach Marc Trestman (Bears) was hired by the Baltimore Ravens as the team's offensive coordinator Tuesday, Jan. 20. Trestman was previously the head coach of the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: While we don't know what the new offense will look like at this point in Baltimore, there is a chance this hire could mean a step back for the running game. Check back as the offseason move on to see what kind of changes are made on the offensive side of the ball.
