Athletics | Coco Crisp has MRI in Dallas

Thu, 21 May 2015 14:41:22 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) underwent an MRI in Dallas Thursday, May 21, and he will meet with a doctor Friday, May 22.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) fantasy stock is dwindling, and at this point, he should not be owned in shallow mixed leagues, and you should consider replacing him in all other leagues, too. Billy Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) and Sam Fuld ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) project to return to the platoon in center field they had when Crisp was out earlier this season. Burns has more upside, although both outfielders are stolen base threats. FantasyScore players should only target them when they land in a favorable matchup.

Athletics | Coco Crisp could be out awhile

Thu, 21 May 2015 09:00:35 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) will travel to Dallas to see a doctor Thursday, May 21, and he could be out for an extended period of time and might need surgery. "I'll try to come back sometime this year," Crisp said. "And if not, then next year." He's hitting only .044 in 13 games since coming off the disabled list after having elbow surgery. Crisp played in just 126 games in 2014 due to neck problems.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) should not be owned at this point in shallow mixed leagues, and you should consider dropping him in all other leagues, as well. Billy Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) and Sam Fuld ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) are expected to platoon in center field with Crisp out. Burns is the much better FantasyScore commodity with more upside, although both outfielders are stolen base threats.

Athletics | Coco Crisp will visit specialist

Wed, 20 May 2015 15:22:24 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) will visit a neck specialist in Dallas Thursday, May 21.

Fantasy Tip: Billy Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) projects to receive a significant fantasy boost for the duration of Crisp's absence, and Burns is worth a speculative add in deep mixed leagues. Check back for updates on the severity of Crisp's injury, but his value is dwindling, and the injury appears serious.

Athletics | Coco Crisp out Wednesday

Wed, 20 May 2015 09:14:02 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) is out of the lineup Wednesday, May 20, after being injured Tuesday, May 19. OF Billy Burns is starting in center field and hitting leadoff against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel.

Fantasy Tip: Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has played well in his limited time with the A's this year, hitting .339 (20-for-59) with four stolen bases. He doesn't have much pop, but he's useful for his stolen base abilities at FantasyScore, especially when hitting at the top of the lineup. Against Keuchel today, though, Burns is merely a sleeper pick.

Athletics | Coco Crisp day-to-day

Tue, 19 May 2015 21:07:39 -0700

Updating a previous report, Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) is considered day-to-day because of his neck injury. Manager Bob Melvin said Crisp's injury is similar to the neck injury he dealt with last season.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if Crisp ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) needs to sit out a few games because of the injury. Crisp has gone 2-for-45 since making his debut two weeks ago and should not be an option on FantasyScore until he starts producing at the plate.

Athletics | Coco Crisp out of game

Tue, 19 May 2015 18:35:06 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) left the game Tuesday, May 19, against the Houston Astros, due to neck soreness. OF Billy Burns took over in center field with OF Sam Fuld moving to right field.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) will need to be monitored. While it's only considered soreness, it's in a troublesome area and will need to fully heal before Crisp can return to the lineup. Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) will be a worthy FantasyScore option if he sees an increase in playing time.

Athletics | Coco Crisp snaps hitless skid

Wed, 13 May 2015 18:03:26 -0700

Fantasy Tip: It will take a few more hits before FantasyScore players can trust Crisp again, especially at $3,400 (or 6.8% of cap).

Athletics | Coco Crisp hitless since return

Wed, 13 May 2015 00:31:12 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp went 0-for-4 with a walk Tuesday, May 12, against the Boston Red Sox. Crisp has no hits in 25 at-bats this season since coming off the DL following elbow surgery. His regular-season hitless streak is at 38 at-bats since last Sept. 26, tied for the second-longest in Oakland history. The record is 40 straight hitless at-bats by Jose Canseco in 1986.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) should be benched and kept out of all formats until he proves he can hit live pitching. He's having a horrendous slump at the moment.

Athletics | Coco Crisp to start playing regularly

Sun, 10 May 2015 17:58:34 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp is ready to resume his role as a regular starter Monday, May 11, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has started three of the last five games, but he is hitless in 15 at-bats since returning from an elbow injury. Although he should be starting regularly going forward, he isn't worth using at FantasyScore until he has his timing back at the plate.
