Athletics | Josh Reddick scratched

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 16:12:40 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Josh Reddick (back) was scratched Saturday, July 23, with back soreness. OF Coco Crisp has entered the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp is actually 4-for-8 (.500) lifetime off of lefty Drew Smyly, and he's a low-end option in DFS.

Athletics | Jed Lowrie leading off

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 15:17:38 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Jed Lowrie is leading off Saturday, July 23, with OF Coco Crisp out against a left-hander.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie is hitting just .215 this month, but Drew Smyly has had a rough season. Lowrie has upside in DFS.

Athletics | Coco Crisp, Yonder Alonso sitting

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 14:34:44 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp and 1B Yonder Alonso are not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays left-handed SP Matt Moore Thursday, July 21. OF Jake Smolinski is starting in center field and is batting eighth, while 3B Ryon Healy draws in at third base and is hitting ninth. 3B Danny Valencia moves across the diamond to first base and SS Marcus Semien is batting leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: With a lefty on the bump, Crisp and Alonso are rested. Smolinski doesn't move the DFS needle much hitting that low in the order. He's a desperation stab. Healy has looked good so far but is untested and also has limited upside hitting ninth tonight. Both Valencia and Semien have good power and are nice value selections for daily gamers against the lefty.

Athletics | Oakland resting three starters

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 11:23:08 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp, C Stephen Vogt and 1B Yonder Alonso are not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ Sunday, July 17. 3B Danny Valencia will start at first base and is batting fourth. OF Khris Davis will start in left field, while 1B Billy Butler will serve as the designated hitter and is batting sixth. C Matt McBride will start at catcher and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia is hitting only .162 this month but should still be a decent fantasy option because of the numbers he has posted so far this season. Butler has at least one hit in five of the last seven games and has two RBI during that span. He should be a decent sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues. McBride has not done much since being recalled and can be avoided in most leagues.

Athletics | Coco Crisp likely to see less playing time

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 17:10:16 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp is expected to see a reduction of playing time so that the club can get an extended look at OF Jake Smolinski in center field, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp didn't have a great deal of fantasy value before this development and isn't worth rostering outside of AL-only formats at this point. Smolinski has played 118 games in the outfield in his MLB career but entering play Friday, July 15, only one of those appearances had come in center field. He is batting .301 with four homers and 16 RBI through 36 games and is worth owning in AL-only and cavernous mixed fantasy leagues.

Athletics | Coco Crisp will be DH

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 15:39:48 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp will serve as the designated hitter against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman Friday, July 15. OF Jake Smolinski will start in center field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp is hitting only .233 so far this month and probably can be avoided in some leagues. Smolinski is only four hits in his last 20 at-bats and probably should not be used outside of AL-only leagues.

Athletics | Oakland resting three players

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 09:59:57 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Josh Reddick, C Stephen Vogt and OF Billy Burns are not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Sunday, July 10. OF Coco Crisp will start in center field, while OF Khris Davis will start in left field. 1B Billy Butler will serve as the designated hitter and is batting sixth. OF Jake Smolinski will start in right field and is batting seventh, while C Matt McBride will start at catcher and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Butler has at least one hit in four of his last six games and has two RBI during that span. Owners in most leagues should be able to find better options to use. Smolinski has cooled off this month and probably should be avoided. McBride has not done much since being recalled from the minor leagues and should not be used by owners.

Athletics | Billy Burns, Danny Valencia resting

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 12:30:26 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns and 3B Danny Valencia are not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers Saturday, July 9. OF Coco Crisp will bat leadoff and play center field and INF Tyler Ladendorf will bat ninth and start at the hot corner.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp is batting just .227 through his first 22 at-bats this month and is hitless in six lifetime at-bats versus McCullers, while Ladendorf is off to a 3-for-32 start to his MLB career. Both players should be avoided in DFS Saturday.

Athletics | Coco Crisp serving suspension

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 14:28:47 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp will serve his one-game suspension Friday, July 8.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Crisp in all fantasy formats Friday. He's nothing more than a low-end option in deep mixed and AL-only setups but does tip the scales across the counting stats (38 runs, seven home runs, 37 RBI and five stolen bases).

Athletics | Coco Crisp sitting out Friday

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 13:25:57 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 8. OF Billy Burns is starting in center field and is hitting ninth, while OF Khris Davis moves into the No. 2 hole in the batting order against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp was suspended one game for throwing his bat in an umpire's direction Thursday night, so it looks like he's serving that suspension tonight. Take him out of your lineups. Burns has speed to burn but isn't playing much, and he's a weak DFS buy because he's unlikely to fill out the stat sheet batting ninth. Davis has 19 homers and 53 RBI on the year and his power plays in all fantasy leagues.
