Orioles | Delmon Young designated for assignment

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 15:19:47 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young was designated for assignment Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: This is a huge blow to Young's ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) already diminished fantasy stock. He is only worth holding in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, although even there, he is nothing more than a desperation stash. The move helps Nolan Reimold's ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) value, as he projects to receive the majority of starts against left-handed pitchers going forward.

Orioles | Delmon Young draws in vs. southpaw

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 12:49:22 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is playing right field and batting fifth against Texas Rangers OF Wandy Rodriguez Monday, June 29.

Fantasy Tip: While Young's ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) .309 batting average against lefties is enticing for FantasyScore players, he has just one extra-base hit and a .327 slugging percentage against them. Still, Young is worth considering as a low-priced flier Monday, especially if you're looking to tee up a few other Orioles.

Orioles | Delmon Young continues to sit

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 12:53:10 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is out of the lineup again in favor of OF Chris Parmelee against Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz Wednesday, June 24. Young has started just once in the team's last six games, and it was against a left-handed pitcher.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) looks like he has returned to the weak side of platoon duty in the outfield, with Parmelee ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) stealing most of the playing time. Young should only be owned in very deep mixed and AL-only leagues. Parmelee homered three times in his first two games with the Orioles last week, but he has just three hits since. Consider him a dice roll as a deep sleeper on FantasyScore.

Orioles | Chris Parmelee on the bench

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 08:30:22 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Chris Parmelee is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle Saturday, June 20. OF Delmon Young will start in right field and is batting fourth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Parmelee ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) likely is sitting out because the team is facing a left-handed starter. Young ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has seen limited playing time this month and is batting only .214 with two RBI during that span. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Orioles | Delmon Young sitting vs. Phillies

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 12:44:43 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is not in the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies Monday, June 15. OFs Nolan Reimold and Travis Snider are starting in the outfield against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang Monday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Young ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday, and he could potentially lose playing time against right-handed pitchers with Snider ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) holding the handedness advantage, and Reimold ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) hitting well. The trio projects to split starts going forward, though, so their seasonal value is tied to AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues only, unless someone pulls ahead of the back and earns everyday at-bats. FantasyScore players should consider Reimold ahead of Snider as a means of cap relief Monday.

Orioles | Delmon Young will not start

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 09:28:44 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Adam Warren Sunday, June 14. OF Nolan Reimold will start in left field and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) will be sitting out his second game over his last three days but should be back in the lineup soon. Reimold ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has four hits, two home runs and three RBI over the last three games and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

Orioles | Delmon Young not in the lineup

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 12:54:15 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda Friday, June 12. OF Nolan Reimold will be the starting left fielder and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should return soon. Reimold ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has gone 1-for-5 with one home run since being recalled by the team. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see Reimold play in a few more games before considering him as an option.

Orioles | Travis Snider out of lineup Tuesday

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 12:43:59 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Travis Snider is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, June 9, against the Boston Red Sox. OF Delmon Young is hitting second.

Fantasy Tip: Snider ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is likely out because the Red Sox are throwing Eduardo Rodriguez, and Snider primarily plays against righties. Young ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) also primarily faces righties, but he has a .375 average against lefties and is worth the start.

Orioles | Delmon Young sitting

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 13:33:30 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 5. OF Travis Snider is starting in right field and hitting second in the batting order against Cleveland Indians SP Shaun Marcum.

Fantasy Tip: Snider ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) hasn't been very attractive at FantasyScore, and he's hitting only .245 (23-for-94) with a home run and nine RBI against right-handers this year. He's a dice roll, but using him tonight could pay off big time against soft-tossing Marcum.

Orioles | Delmon Young hitting second Thursday

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 09:58:28 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is hitting second in the batting order against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Thursday, June 4.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) hits considerably better against lefties (.389) than against righties (.277), even though he doesn't have any home runs against southpaws yet in 2015. On the flip side, Keuchel has allowed a slash line of just .123/.167/.158 to lefty hitters this year. Young could pay off as a contrarian play today, but it's obviously risky.
