Baltimore Orioles OF Nick Markakis became very serious with Pilates this offseason in an effort to bulk up for the 2014 season. He focused on core strength and balance and came to camp weighing 16 more pounds than last season. Markakis worked out every day and also enlisted the team's chef to help him eat clean. "Obviously he's put on some muscle," said 2B Ryan Flaherty. "He's in a much better place right now than he's been in for a long time. I think just by looking at him you can tell he's motivated." Markakis thinks it's the strongest he's ever been, and it's showing during batting practice this spring.

Baltimore Orioles OF Nick Markakis is likely to be the leadoff hitter this season.
Fantasy Tip: This was expected and doesn't change Markakis' value a whole lot. He has some punch behind him and should be a good source of runs, hit double-digit homers and drive in 60 or so. It would be ideal if Brian Roberts returned to the leadoff spot and pushed Markakis back down in the order to drive in more runs, though.
