Rangers | Tomas Telis called up

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 13:30:26 -0700

Texas Rangers C Tomas Telis was recalled from Class AAA Round Rock Friday, July 17. The team also placed C Carlos Corporan (thumb) on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained thumb.

Fantasy Tip: Telis is one of the team's better prospects and could share time with Robinson Chirinos while he is up with the team. Telis is hitting .291 with five RBI and 25 RBI this season with Round Rock. Owners on AL-only and two-catcher leagues can consider adding him to their roster. Owners in dynasty leagues should also have interest in Telis if he is available.

Rangers | Texas willing to trade Carlos Corporan

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 16:56:28 -0700

Texas Rangers C Carlos Corporan could be traded away by the team at the deadline, and they are open to bringing up C Tomas Telis from the minors.

Fantasy Tip: Corporan's ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) fantasy value could be significantly impacted if he's traded away from the Rangers, as another club could use him for backstop depth. Telis, a switch-hitter, is hitting .291 (82-for-282) with five homers and 25 RBI for Class AAA Round Rock. If you're speculating in AL, dynasty or two-catcher leagues, Telis may justify a stash now.

Rangers | Robinson Chirinos sitting out

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 10:54:58 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos is not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross Sunday, July 12. C Carlos Corporan will start at catcher and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) likely will return to the starting lineup after the break. Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting only .181 this season and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Rangers | Robinson Chirinos sitting vs. O's

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 13:13:03 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 29. C Carlos Corporan is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Bud Norris Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has respectable counting stats this season (21 runs, seven home runs and 26 RBI), and should be viewed as a low-end option in cavernous mixed, AL-only and two-catcher formats going forward. Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has a .544 OPS this season, and FantasyScore players should likely aim higher Monday.

Rangers | Robinson Chirinos sitting Wednesday

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 16:24:38 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos isn't in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 17, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Switch-hitting C Carlos Corporan will start behind the plate and hit seventh in the order against LHP Clayton Kershaw.

Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has fared better against southpaws for his career, but that means hitting .241 as opposed to his .208 average against righties. Corporan should be ignored on FantasyScore.

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 09:35:34 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos is not in the starting lineup Saturday, June 6. C Carlos Corporan will take his place in the lineup and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) probably is receiving a day of rest and should play in the next game or two. Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting only .184 in his limited playing time this season and may not be a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Rangers | Robinson Chirinos still out

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 13:31:13 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos (hand) is out of the starting lineup Wednesday, June 3. C Carlos Corporan is starting and hitting eighth in the batting order against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale.

Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has just 14 hits in 72 at-bats (.194), and he's a weak catching option on FantasyScore against the nasty Sale. X-rays were negative on Chirinos' hand, but it's unclear when he might return. Stay tuned.

Rangers | Carlos Corporan tears it up

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 22:39:56 -0700

Texas Rangers C Carlos Corporan drove in a career-high five runs Tuesday, June 2, against the Chicago White Sox. He did not even start the game, but he came on for the injured C Robinson Chirinos (thumb).

Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800; or 3.6% of cap) might make the start Wednesday if Chirinos is not ready. He is a solid low-end option for FantasyScore players.

Rangers | Carlos Corporan catching Sunday

Sun, 31 May 2015 11:21:12 -0700

Texas Rangers C Carlos Corporan is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against the Boston Red Sox Sunday, May 31.

Fantasy Tip: The light-hitting Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is only batting .172 through 20 games this season, with one home run and five RBIs. Robinson Chirinos ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is getting the day off and should be removed from all lineups.
