Padres | Multiple teams interested in Matt Kemp

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 17:48:42 -0800

Several teams have reportedly expressed interest in San Diego Padres OF Matt Kemp, although no deal appears imminent.

Fantasy Tip: Kemp quietly had his first 100-RBI season since 2011 despite having little protection surrounding him in the San Diego lineup. Due to ever-present injury concerns, you may be able to draft him as your third outfielder next season, although he will produce like a No. 2 outfielder if he's healthy.

Padres | Matt Kemp recovery timeline

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 16:57:57 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Diego Padres OF Matt Kemp (finger) will require four to six weeks for the strained tendon in his right middle finger to heal properly. He will not require surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Kemp ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) should be dropped in all fantasy formats. He'll enter the 2016 season on the heels of his first 100 RBI season since 2011, and more importantly, he played over 150 games for the second consecutive year. Kemp projects to provide No. 2 OF fantasy production, but you'll likely be able to draft his as your No. 3. Check back for updates.

Padres | Matt Kemp finished for the season

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 15:52:04 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Matt Kemp (finger) will miss the remainder of the season with a strained tendon in his right middle finger, manager Pat Murphy announced Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Kemp ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) should be replaced in all seasonal leagues, and is only worth a roster spot in deeper dynasty/keeper formats. Melvin Upton Jr. ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) projects to see an uptick in playing time over the final games, but he is nothing more than a desperation flier in all fantasy formats, including at FantasyScore.

Padres | Kemp, Upton vary in results against Latos

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 16:17:28 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Matt Kemp is hitting .150 in 20 career plate appearances against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mat Latos. OF Justin Upton is hitting .500 against Latos with two home runs in 20 plate appearances, as well. The Padres face Latos and the Dodgers Thursday, Sept. 3.

Fantasy Tip: While Kemp's ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) numbers against Latos are iffy, he's not a bad FantasyScore pick tonight against the struggling pitcher, and Kemp has been one of the best run-producers in all of baseball since the All-Star break. Upton ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is obviously attractive because of how he's owned Latos over the years.

Fantasy Tip: Kemp ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has been on a tear since the All-Star break, and don't forget he finished 2014 strong, too. Make sure to avoid him in all fantasy formats Friday, though, as he is dealing with a sore shoulder. Expect him back sooner than later. FantasyScore players have no reason to target Jankowski ($2,600, 5.2% of cap), either.
