Dodgers | Four Dodgers regulars sitting

Mon, 23 May 2016 16:04:36 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford, 2B Chase Utley, C Yasmani Grandal and OF Joc Pederson are all out of the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds left-handed SP Brandon Finnegan Monday, May 23. OF Enrique Hernandez is playing left field and leading off, 2B Howie Kendrick is at second base and is batting cleanup, OF Trayce Thompson is in center field and hitting fifth, while C A.J. Ellis is behind the plate and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Against Finnegan, Hernandez, Kendrick and Thompson all make for solid value picks in DFS tonight. Kendrick hit his first home run of the year Sunday and is in a prime spot to take advantage for his owners. Ellis remains a low-end catching option, especially while batting low in the lineup.

Dodgers | Justin Turner gets a day off Sunday

Sun, 22 May 2016 12:40:41 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner and C Yasmani Grandal are absent from the lineup on Sunday, May 22, against San Diego Padres SP Colin Rea. INF Howie Kendrick will replace Turner in the field at third and bat third, while C A.J. Ellis gets the nod behind the plate and will hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Turner (.227) and Grandal (.196) are getting rest days, as neither player is exactly tearing it up at the plate. Expect both to be back in the lineup Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. Kendrick might be worth considering in DFS given his spot in the order, but he and Ellis are probably not worth starting in most formats today.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez out again

Fri, 20 May 2016 16:03:29 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez (back) remains out of the starting lineup Friday, May 20. C Yasmani Grandal is playing first base and is hitting seventh against San Diego Padres SP Christian Friedrich. C A.J. Ellis is doing the catching and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: A-Gon is day-to-day and is expected to return to starting duties tomorrow. Get him back in there in all starting lineups if he indeed returns. Grandal typically sits against lefty pitchers and has just three hits in 14 at-bats (.214) against them this year. That makes both he and Ellis catchers to avoid in daily leagues tonight.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal, Carl Crawford resting

Tue, 17 May 2016 15:24:24 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal and OF Carl Crawford are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 17. C A.J. Ellis is doing the catching and hitting eighth, while OF Trayce Thompson is starting in left field and batting sixth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Jered Weaver.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal and Crawford are both struggling at the plate and could be spelled more often by Dave Roberts. Ellis has a nice matchup but remains a low-end daily catcher with limited offensive upside. Thompson, on the other hand, homered twice last night and has five homers this month. He's likely to continue stealing playing time from Crawford, making him one to add for his power in mixed leagues if you need the help.

Dodgers | Three Dodgers regulars sitting

Fri, 13 May 2016 16:51:44 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Chase Utley, OF Carl Crawford and C Yasmani Grandal are not in the starting lineup Friday, May 13. 2B Howie Kendrick is starting at second base and hitting leadoff, OF Trayce Thompson is starting in left field and batting seventh, and C A.J. Ellis is starting at catcher and is hitting eighth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha.

Fantasy Tip: The leadoff spot could make Kendrick an excellent contrarian value play in daily formats, but his poor .188/.225/.200 slash line with no homers and three RBI will likely scare most away. Thompson has produced in a limited role this year but has been better against lefties. He's a low-end outfield option. Ellis remains unattractive with a limited offensive profile.

Dodgers | Five Dodgers regulars sitting

Mon, 09 May 2016 14:37:52 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Chase Utley, OF Carl Crawford, C Joc Pederson, C Yasmani Grandal and SS Corey Seager are not in the starting lineup against New York Mets left-handed SP Steven Matz Monday, May 9. OF Enrique Hernandez is starting in left field and hitting leadoff, 2B Howie Kendrick is at the keystone and batting second, OF Trayce Thompson is in center field and is hitting sixth, C A.J. Ellis is behind the plate and hitting seventh and OF Charlie Culberson is starting at shortstop and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure you get all of these guys out of your daily rosters tonight against the lefty. Only Hernandez and Kendrick are really worth your attention as sleeper picks against Matz in DFS action while hitting at the top of the lineup. Thompson, Ellis and Culberson are all desperation plays. Matz is certainly worth paying for as the Dodgers trot out a less than ideal lineup.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal sitting out

Sat, 07 May 2016 07:07:49 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey Saturday, May 7. C A.J. Ellis will start at catcher and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ellis has recorded at least one hit in four of his last six games but is hitting only .209 this season. Ellis could be used in two-catcher leagues but can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal not starting Tuesday

Tue, 03 May 2016 14:09:10 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal is not starting Tuesday, May 3, against the Tampa Bay Rays. Grandal is spelled by C A.J. Ellis, who will hit seventh against Rays SP Matt Moore.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be nothing but a normal night off for Grandal, so put him on your bench in daily leagues. Ellis is a .237-1-8 hitter in the past 30 days so his fantasy value is minimal.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig returns after a day off

Sun, 01 May 2016 12:24:19 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig is in the lineup Sunday, May 01, against San Diego Padres SP Drew Pomeranz and will bat leadoff. The Dodgers will get a host of other regulars a day off, however, as 2B Chase Utley, C Yasmani Grandal, OF Carl Crawford and OF Joc Pederson are not starting. In their place, OF Enrique Hernandez will occupy left field and bat second, 2B/3B Howie Kendrick will play second base and hit fifth, OF Trayce Thompson will spell Pederson in center and bat sixth, and C A.J. Ellis will catch and hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Puig is mired in a 7-for-51 slump since the middle of April following a hot start and is probably needs to be benched in most leagues for now, although manager Dave Roberts is obviously showing a lot of faith in his struggling slugger by batting him leadoff today. Utley is getting a rest day and has cooled slightly after batting over .300 for most of April, but he should be inserted back in lineups Tuesday when the Dodgers hit the road to face the Tampa Bay Rays.

Dodgers | Two Dodgers sitting out

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 14:07:55 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner and C Yasmani Grandal are out of the lineup Saturday, April 23, with OF Yasiel Puig hitting third and C A.J. Ellis hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Puig is still hitting .310 despite a 3-for-17 (.176) the last seven days. He's a high-end outfield option against Tyler Chatwood. Ellis is hitting just .154 and isn't worth the low-end flyer.
