Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa pain-free

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 16:09:39 -0800

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (Achilles') is finally healthy and pain-free after being shut down with an Achilles' injury in mid-September last year. De La Rosa turns 35 on April 5 and leads the Rockies career lists in wins (78) and strikeouts (877).

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa has had some pretty painful seasons in his career, both with injuries and performance. A 35-year-old arm pitching home games at hitter-friendly Coors Field should scare everyone away, except as a warm body in deep NL-only leagues.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa's season over

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 14:49:15 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (Achilles') will not pitch again this season, according to manager Walt Weiss. SP Yohan Flande could make another start again this season.

Fantasy Tip: We hope you weren't relying heavily on De La Rosa ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) in any leagues. You can drop him now if you still owned him. Flande ($3,100, 6.2% of cap), has a 4.88 ERA on the season and has made 10 starts for Colorado. Ignore him everywhere.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa scratched

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 22:56:28 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (Achilles') was scratched from his start Wednesday, Sept. 23, against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to tendinitis in his right Achilles'.

Fantasy Tip: Avoid JDLR ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) in FantasyScore until he can officially return to the mound and prove his health in a full start without any setbacks. Christian Bergman ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will start in his absence.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa picks up win

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 05:11:46 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa allowed one run on six hits against the San Francisco Giants Friday, Sept. 4, to earn his ninth win of the season. He struck out seven batters during the game and did not walk a batter.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) has pitched well recently and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in five of his last seven games. He has also struck out at least six batters in four of his last five games. De La Rosa is scheduled to face the San Diego Padres in his next start and could be a solid option on FantasyScore.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa stifles Pirates

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 18:07:19 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa allowed four hits and struck out seven over six scoreless innings before being ejected in a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday, Aug. 30.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) has allowed three earned runs or less in five of his last six starts, and not surprisingly, he has only made on start at home during the stretch. If he draws a friendly road matchup, he could be worth a look as a sleeper at FantasyScore.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa suffers loss

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 18:48:04 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (7-5) allowed two runs on four hits over six innings in a loss to the New York Mets Wednesday, Aug. 12, with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Despite tossing a quality start Wednesday, De La Rosa ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has not made it beyond the sixth inning in seven of his last eight outings. He will make his next start in the opening game of a three-game series against the Washington Nationals Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Rockies | Jorge de la Rosa rolls against Cardinals

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 06:22:55 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa improved to 7-2 with a 3.41 ERA in nine starts against the St. Louis Cardinals since joining the Rockies in 2008. De La Rosa allowed two runs and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings Saturday, Aug. 1.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) had allowed six earned runs in each of his two previous games, so FantasyScore owners will need to see a few more quality outings before investing.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa to start Tuesday

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 10:32:57 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (finger) will make his scheduled start Tuesday, June 30, against the Oakland Athletics. De La Rosa left his previous start after five innings with a cut on his middle finger.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has a difficult matchup going against A's ace Sonny Gray. The A's have scored well at home and don't strike out a lot, but they do struggle against left-handed pitching. O.co Coliseum is one of the better pitchers parks in baseball, too. He comes at an affordable price with a considerable amount of risk.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa should make next start

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 04:44:56 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (finger) should make his next start, according to manager Walt Weiss. De La Rosa left his previous start Thursday, June 25, with a cut on his left middle finger.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has a 4-3 record and 5.15 ERA this season, and his walks (31) have been a main issue when compared to strikeouts (56). It's still a decent ratio, but pitching in Colorado is always a danger. Analyze the matchups before starting him, and be especially wary of his next turn.

Rockies | Jorge De La Rosa exits early

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 19:25:51 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (finger) exited against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a cut on the middle finger of his left hand Thursday, June 25. He allowed one run on four hits and struck out three before leaving, and the Rockies said De La Rosa is day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has been pitching better recently, but his ERA still stands at 5.15 on the season. He is a roll-of-the-dice play FantasyScore.
