Rays | Steven Souza out again

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 11:39:16 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Steven Souza is out of the lineup Friday, July 3, with OF Grady Sizemore leading off as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: It's Souza's second day off in a row, and his extended struggles have clearly cost him some playing time. Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting .364 with a homer and four RBI the last seven days. If you're feeling nostalgic, give him a whirl on FantasyScore against Masahiro Tanaka.

Rays | David DeJesus sitting Thursday

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 08:54:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF David DeJesus is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 2. OF Grady Sizemore is serving as the designated hitter and batting fourth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber.

Fantasy Tip: DeJesus has only 10 hits in his last 69 at-bats (.145) since the beginning of June with no home runs and five RBI. He's batting-average dependent and was due for regression. Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has a homer and four hits in his first 14 at-bats with the Rays, but he's about one of the weakest cleanup hitters you'll see in baseball and should be avoided on FantasyScore today against the Klubot.

Rays | Joey Butler still riding pine

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 13:45:16 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Joey Butler remains out of the lineup for the third straight game Tuesday, June 30. OF Grady Sizemore is yet again serving as the designated hitter and batting second against Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar.

Fantasy Tip: Butler ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) hasn't seen a start since Sizemore was added to the active roster, although Tampa still plans for Butler to be a big part of their offense. It's hard to deny that he'll struggle to find consistent playing time, though, hurting his fantasy value in deeper mixed leagues. Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has made an impression with four hits (one homer) in his first nine at-bats, but he's a poor option against Salazar tonight.

Rays | Joey Butler a big part of plans

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 15:32:51 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Joey Butler, who is out of the lineup for the second straight day Monday, June 29, remains a big part of the team's plans despite the addition of OF Grady Sizemore to the active roster, according to manager Kevin Cash.

Fantasy Tip: Butler ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has hit a rough patch of late, going 5-for-25 (.200) with no home runs and an RBI since June 21. Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is worth an addition in deep AL leagues in the short term, but don't expect much from him on FantasyScore.

Rays | Grady Sizemore at DH again

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 14:10:01 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Grady Sizemore is serving as the designated hitter and batting second against Cleveland Indians SP Cody Anderson for the second straight game Monday, June 29. OF Joey Butler will start on the bench again.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) had a nice debut with Tampa yesterday, going 3-for-5 with a double and RBI. His presence on the active roster will likely negatively affect Joey Butler's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) fantasy value, however, and the two could enter a platoon situation at DH. Even against Anderson tonight, Sizemore is a deep sleeper on FantasyScore.

Rays | Grady Sizemore solid in team debut

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 18:46:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Grady Sizemore went 3-for-5 with an RBI in his team debut in a 5-3 win over the Boston Red Sox Sunday, June 28.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore was hitting just .245 with Philadelphia before being acquired by the Rays, and despite the solid debut, he shouldn't be counted on to make an impact at FantasyScore.

Rays | Grady Sizemore hitting second

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 07:28:44 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Grady Sizemore is serving as the designated hitter and hitting second in the order Sunday, June 28, against the Boston Red Sox and RHP Justin Masterson. OF Joey Butler comes out of the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore will be making his debut for the Rays, after he was released by the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this year. Sizemore is a career .283 hitter against righties, but he's far from the player he used to be. Sizemore will need to prove he can still be a fantasy contributor before owners take note.

Rays | Grady Sizemore hitless in minors game

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 22:52:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Grady Sizemore was hitless in two at-bats for Class A Charlotte Monday, June 22.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if and when Sizemore will make his way back to the majors, but he needs not be on anyone's radar for FantasyScore until such point.

Phillies | Grady Sizemore cut

Fri, 29 May 2015 11:26:18 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Grady Sizemore was designated for assignment Friday, May 29, to make room for 3B Cody Asche on the roster.

Fantasy Tip: The makeover continues and it comes as no surprise to see Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) bounced from the roster. Sizemore had a .245 average but drove in just six runs this season. He could land with another team, but for now he's FantasyScore poison. Drop him from your lineup.

Phillies | Grady Sizemore starting in right field

Fri, 22 May 2015 13:24:54 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Grady Sizemore is batting sixth and starting in right field against the Washington Nationals Friday, May 22.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) offers little upside in all fantasy formats facing Max Scherzer Friday. For the season, Sizemore's four runs, six RBI and .601 OPS leave a lot to be desired, and his ownership should be limited to cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.
