Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez ejected

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 21:43:59 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez was ejected after striking out in the fourth inning on Wednesday, June 29. He finished 0-for-1.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez didn't like a call on a check swing and let the third base umpire know about it, which resulted in his fifth career ejection. Expect him to be back in the lineup tomorrow.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez smacks three hits

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 21:37:28 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, June 28. He also walked and was hit by a pitch.

Fantasy Tip: After back-to-back days off, Gonzalez reached base all five times he came to the plate on Tuesday night. Hopefully that gets the veteran first baseman going, as even with his big night Gonzalez is posting a weak .216-1-7 line this month. Keep him reserved until he strings together some good performances.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez sought extra day off

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 16:23:17 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez (rest) requested an extra day off this past weekend Sunday, June 26, opposite the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was always supposed to be out of the lineup Monday, June 27, but after an 0-for-3 performance on Saturday, June 25, Gonzalez went to manager Dave Roberts with the idea of having back-to-back off days, thinking it would be better for him mentally.

Fantasy Tip: It's understandable A-Gon would want time off to clear his head, as he's struggled mightily in June to the tune of a .181 batting average, while having just one home run and six runs driven in for the month as well in 83 at-bats. With a .261 average, six homers and 33 RBI on the year, Gonzalez is on pace for career lows across the board over a full season. Considering he first came up in 2004 with the Texas Rangers, that's really saying something.

Dodgers | Monday Dodgers lineup light

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 07:04:01 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SS Corey Seager, 1B Adrian Gonzalez, 2B Chase Utley, OF Joc Pederson and C Yasmani Grandal are out of the lineup Monday, June 27. OF Enrique Hernandez is leading off, OF Trayce Thompson is hitting third, 1B Scott Van Slyke is hitting sixth, C A.J. Ellis hit seventh and SS Chris Taylor hits eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson has struggled this month, but he has upside in the three-hole against Francisco Liriano. Hernandez and Van Slyke are worth low-end consideration against the lefty. Ellis and Taylor don't move the needle much.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez won't play Monday

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 05:41:56 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez, who is hitting .181 in 23 June games, will be out of the lineup Monday, June 27. Manager Dave Roberts is giving Gonzalez a "mental break" from regular duty.

Fantasy Tip: The team is unlikely to sour on Gonzalez like it did on Carl Crawford earlier this month, but keep Gonzalez off your active roster until he shows signs of turning that bat around.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez out Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 13:52:44 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez is not in the starting lineup Sunday, June 26. 1B Scott Van Slyke is in the lineup and batting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Chad Kuhl.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a normal night off, as Gonzalez hasn't been out of the starting lineup all week. Van Slyke has minimal at-bats and low fantasy value as a result, and it is best to stay away.

Dodgers | A-Gone too focused on opposite field

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 14:23:53 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez's struggles aren't the new normal, according to manager Dave Roberts, who believes Gonzalez has been obsessed with going to the opposite field.

Fantasy Tip: A-Gone has a .267-6-33 line thus far, and his strikeouts are up with 62 in 262 at-bats. He fanned 107 times in 571 at-bats last year. At 34, he's probably not this ineffective, but he's showing signs of decline. He's worth targeting as a buy-low option, but don't expect peak numbers.

Dodgers | Three Dodgers regulars out vs. lefty

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 14:52:44 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Chase Utley, 1B Adrian Gonzalez and C Yasmani Grandal are not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs left-handed SP Jon Lester Wednesday, June 1. OF Enrique Hernandez is starting at second and hitting leadoff, 2B Howie Kendrick is at first base and batting cleanup and C A.J. Ellis is doing the catching and hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: The Dodgers often sit a handful of their lefty regulars against a southpaw, so this is no surprise. Hernandez gains some daily value hitting leadoff, but he's cooled since a hot start and had just four hits (one double) in 37 at-bats (.108) in May. Kendrick could be the best value pick in DFS among the group hitting cleanup. Ellis is a light-hitting catcher that should be avoided in all fantasy formats.

Dodgers | L.A. better on the road

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 11:04:05 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a much better hitting team on the road than at home this year. They are averaging 3.44 runs per game at home (ranked 26th) compared to 5.11 on the road, which ranks fourth. 3B Justin Turner, 2B Howie Kendrick, OF Yasiel Puig, OF Joc Pederson and 1B Adrian Gonzalez are all hitting .211 or lower at Dodger Stadium.

Fantasy Tip: Take note of these numbers when streaming pitchers or looking for a nice value play as your second starter in daily setups.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez returns

Sat, 21 May 2016 15:53:21 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez (back) returned to the lineup Saturday, May 21. He's hitting cleanup, and 3B Justin Turner returned to the three-hole. 2B Howie Kendrick is sitting out.

Fantasy Tip: A-Gone has a ridiculous .384-2-15 line on the road considering he has 20 RBI on the year. He hasn't been great at Petco Park, but not many hitters are. He's a solid start against Cesar Vargas. Turner is hitting just .217 this month and has struggled much of the season. He has upside in the three-hole, but he's a risky lower-middle option.
