Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez not starting Monday

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 15:56:25 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez (rest) is not in the starting lineup Monday, April 25. C Yasmani Grandal will take his place at first base and bat fifth opposite Miami Marlins SP Wei-Yin Chen.

Fantasy Tip: This looks like a routine day off for the veteran A-Gon, so his owners need not panic. Grandal could end up being someone worth deploying in daily formats, as he excelled greatly against left-handed pitching a season ago. Thus, he might have some solid value in tonight's contest.

Fantasy Tip: Entering play, Gonzalez hit .280 with 11 doubles, 15 homers and 40 RBIs in 214 at-bats since the start of the 2013 season against the Padres. He loves facing his former team, especially at Petco Park where he has 19 RBIs during the span, third-most in any park outside of Dodger Stadium.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez to debut Friday

Tue, 01 Mar 2016 17:59:18 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez (neck) is set to make his Cactus League debut Friday, March 4. His sore neck is no longer a concern.

Fantasy Tip: That's good news for A-Gon, as one of the strengths of drafting him is that he's durable. In fact, Gonzalez has played no fewer than 156 games every year since 2010. Coming off his usual solid campaign from last season, he'll once again be a force in the heart of the Dodgers batting order.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez playing with bulging disc

Mon, 29 Feb 2016 13:36:14 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez (neck) said he'll continue to play with a bulging disc in his neck that has bothered him since 2010. His neck issue limits his range of motion when he turns to face the pitcher when hitting. "There's not much we can do about it. It's a bulging disk and it's too risky to operate. Just pain management. I wasn't smart with the base-running drill. I have to stay away from things that irritate it," Gonzalez said.

Fantasy Tip: Despite neck issues, A-Gon's production hasn't suffered. He also hasn't played fewer than 156 games since 2010. Keep an eye on his neck issue, but don't consider it serious. He's a solid starting fantasy first baseman once the elite names are off the board.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez sitting vs. Giants

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 16:35:14 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 30. C Austin Barnes draws into the lineup and is batting seventh against San Francisco Giants SP Mike Leake Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has been battling a bad back, so he may play sparingly over the final regular season games. Check back for updates on his status. Barnes ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation flier for FantasyScore players Wednesday. He only have 32 plate appearances in the majors.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez returns

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 15:38:10 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez (back) is returning to the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy Monday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Even though he's coming off a minor injury, Gonzalez ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) makes for a very acceptable FantasyScore choice against Peavy. A-Gon has three career home runs against Peavy in only 20 at-bats.

Dodgers | Adrian Gonzalez close to returning

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 12:13:21 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez (back) is hopeful for the game against the San Francisco Giants Monday, Sept. 28, according to manager Don Mattingly. Gonzalez has a pinched nerve in his lower back that has prevented him from starting three of the last four games, but he said he felt better Sunday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has really struggled down the stretch with a .233/.317/.383 slash line since Saturday, Aug. 1. So with a nagging back injury also in the picture, Gonzalez is a risky daily play at FantasyScore, and his seasonal value is trending down significantly.
