Orioles | Adam Jones homers again

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 19:33:17 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Adam Jones went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in a 5-1 win over the Boston Red Sox Thursday, June 16, and he has four home runs in his last four games.

Fantasy Tip: His average is still well below his career mark, but with his power coming around, Jones is once again worth starting in all formats after a rough start to the year.

Orioles | Power surge for Adam Jones

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 20:38:46 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Adam Jones hit a two-run home run Wednesday, June 15, in the loss against the Boston Red Sox. It was his third in three games, and seventh home run in the past 13 outings.

Fantasy Tip: With the exception of a one-week stretch in early May, and his power surge in June, it has been a forgettable season for Jones and his fantasy owners. But certainly don't give up on him, as he been on fire in June and shows why you do not drop a player of his caliber.

Orioles | Adam Jones continues to struggle

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 15:16:52 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Adam Jones did hit two home runs Sunday, June 12, but he was 20-for-103 (.194) in his previous 25 games with 20 strikeouts and just seven extra-base hits. He has cut down on his strikeouts since moving to leadoff but has an on-base percentage of just .308.

Fantasy Tip: The leadoff spot has helped Jones rebound a bit, but he's still slashing only .238/.290/.423 on the season with 11 home runs and 35 RBI. Jones also has just one stolen base, although the running game hasn't been part of his game the last two years. The power remains, but Jones might not help much anywhere else as long as he stays in the leadoff spot in Baltimore.

Orioles | Adam Jones posts 10th career two-HR game

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 13:42:37 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Adam Jones finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and slugged two of his team's five home runs on Sunday, June 12, but it proved to be not quite enough in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.

Fantasy Tip: With his fifth and sixth homers this month, Jones has already surpassed his total from April and May combined (five). It should go without saying the five-time All-Star needs to remain in fantasy lineups after a day off on Monday when the Orioles travel to Boston for a three-game set with the Red Sox beginning on Tuesday.

Orioles | Adam Jones heating up

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 06:45:20 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Adam Jones has reached base safely in eight of his past nine games and has a .306 batting average (11-for-36) with eight runs, two doubles, two home runs and seven RBI during the span.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has been one of the most reliable outfielders in baseball dating back to 2011, and after a slow start to 2016, he appears to be back on track. View Jones as viable No. 1 outfielder for you virtual club and an excellent No. 2 going forward.

Orioles | Adam Jones delivers from leadoff spot

Fri, 27 May 2016 19:59:14 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Adam Jones hit leadoff for the first time this year and went 3-for-5 with a run scored in a 6-4 win over the Cleveland Indians Friday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: A permanent move to the top of the lineup would hurt Jones' RBI potential, but if it can help boost his slumping bat, it would be worth it. Don't cut him loose just yet, but don't hesitate to bench him for a better option either.

Orioles | Adam Jones, Hyun-soo Kim setting the table

Fri, 27 May 2016 13:36:23 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OFs Adam Jones and Hyun-soo Kim are hitting first and second, respectively, in the lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer Friday, May 27. OF Joey Rickard remains out of the lineup, and OF Nolan Reimold is starting in right field and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: It's looking like Kim, who is hitting an impressive .444 (16-for-36) will start to see more playing time over the Rule 5 pick Rickard. He's worth speculating on in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if that continues. Jones loses some fantasy luster atop the order in daily games without as many chances to drive in runs.

Orioles | Adam Jones stays hot

Sat, 14 May 2016 20:37:47 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Adam Jones homered for the fourth time in five games, finishing 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored and extending his hitting streak to seven games in a 9-3 win over the Detroit Tigers Saturday, May 14.

Fantasy Tip: During the seven-game streak, Jones has four homers, nine RBI and nine runs scored. His terrible start is a thing of the past, and the opportunity to try to buy low is officially gone.

Orioles | Adam Jones coming around at the plate

Sat, 14 May 2016 20:29:06 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Adam Jones hovered around a .200 batting average through the month of April but has since picked it up. He has hit four home runs in the last five games and is 11-for-21 in that span, raising his average to .259. Jones is making more solid contact, and the exit velocity on his home run earlier in the week was 110.5 mph. He's hitting the ball with much more authority now, with a season exit velocity of 93.1 mph, equal to that of Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera. Jones remains aggressive, too, and he's hitting .350/.381/.750 when connecting on the first pitch of at-bats. Two of his four homers this year have come on the first pitch. Jones insists there's nothing physically wrong with him after dealing with a rib cage injury in April.

Fantasy Tip: If you bought low on Jones already, you're reaping the benefits. Full health might be the reason why Jones is starting to hit, although he won't admit it. Whatever the case, his exit velocity is a telling sign that you can stop worrying about him moving forward and return him to your starting lineups if you were benching him because of his slow start.
