Broncos | Chris Clark to stay at right tackle for DEN

Thu, 28 May 2015 14:29:48 -0700

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos OT Chris Clark will continue to play right tackle despite OT Ryan Clady (knee) likely missing the 2015 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Clark replaced Clady at left tackle when Clady was injured in 2013. OTs Michael Schofield and rookie Ty Sambrailo figure to be the frontrunners to start at left tackle, but recently acquired OT Ryan Harris should also be in the mix to protect QB Peyton Manning's blind side.

Fantasy Tip: Protection has been imperative for Manning throughout his illustrious career. Clady is regarded as one of the best left tackles in the league. The Broncos are expected to implement more play action into the offense this year, so that combined with new head coach Gary Kubiak's zone blocking scheme should also be beneficial to Manning's safety.

Broncos | Denver to use more play-action

Thu, 28 May 2015 11:13:03 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense is expected to use much more play-action passing in 2015 under new head coach Gary Kubiak and his stretch-run, zone-blocking offense. Manning, however, has primarily been a pocket passer in his 17-year career, relying more on quick releases than his ability to scramble or roll out.

Manning ranked fifth among 27 quarterbacks in play-action usage (27.3%) in his first season in Denver in 2012, and he was seventh in passer rating (108.8) in play-action. In 2013, a record-setting year, he was No. 7 in play-action usage (25.6%) and seventh in passer rating (108.8) in play-action. Last year, just 22.3% of his drop-backs were play-action (No. 11 in the league), and his passer rating was just 86.5. TE Owen Daniels, who is very familiar with Kubiak's offensive scheme, thinks Manning won't have a problem using more play-action.

Fantasy Tip: A move to a heavy ground attack late in the 2014 season coincided with Manning's quad injury, and his numbers quickly dipped. The 39-year-old should be fully healthy heading into 2015, and fantasy owners shouldn't be worried about his production, even in this new offense. Consider Manning a top-five fantasy QB again.

Broncos | Peyton Manning looks great

Thu, 28 May 2015 09:45:20 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning looked strong and sharp in practice Wednesday, May 27, "whistling" throws short, medium and long. He was quick-footed and appeared to be in great condition for 39 years old, according to The Associated Press' Arnie Stapleton. Manning will have to work almost exclusively from under center in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Manning looked like a different quarterback down the stretch in 2014 when he battled a quad injury that robbed him of velocity. Fantasy owners shouldn't have too much concern about his ability to perform at a high level this season, barring another injury. He's a top-five fantasy passer in all formats.

Broncos | Peyton Manning to work under center

Wed, 27 May 2015 18:47:10 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will see most of his snaps under center during organized team activities this week, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak said Manning already has plenty of experience in the shotgun since the team used it 70% of the time in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Manning likely will see more snaps under center with Kubiak as the new coach but should still see time in the shotgun. Manning may not be playing like he did earlier in his career but should be a weekly starting option for owners in 2015.

Broncos | Peyton Manning arrives at OTAs

Wed, 27 May 2015 16:17:37 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning participated in organized team activities Wednesday, May 27. It marked the official beginning of Manning's 18th NFL season.

Fantasy Tip: Manning's troubles at the end of last season should be blamed largely on injuries. Heading into a new season at full health, there's no reason to not consider Manning amongst the league's elite. Manning should be considered a top-five quarterback entering 2015 fantasy drafts.

Broncos | Peyton Manning may play more seasons

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 11:27:37 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning said he feels good physically and does not see the 2015 season as a farewell tour. Manning said the team has been learning head coach Gary Kubiak's offense during offseason workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Manning is close to the end of his career, but he may be able to play a few more seasons before retiring. Manning should still be considered a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in most leagues next season.

Broncos | Peyton Manning at veteran's mini camp

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 17:37:54 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning took part in the first day of veteran's mini camp Tuesday, April 28. Manning wouldn't say whether 2015 would be his last season in the NFL, "I feel good physically, and the whole team, including me, is just excited to get back on the field," Manning said. "We've been here a couple weeks, lifting and meeting, but it's always nice to get back on the football field."

Fantasy Tip: Manning will enter the 2015 fantasy season just outside of the top five quarterbacks. With many of the same weapons as the Broncos had last season - with the exception of TE Julius Thomas and WR Wes Welker - Manning should come close to 40 passing touchdowns yet again.

Broncos | Offense to be catered to Peyton Manning

Sat, 18 Apr 2015 18:07:33 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning won't be forced into a playbook that doesn't suit his gifts, according to head coach Gary Kubiak, and Kubiak added that it has been easy to mix his playbook with the playbook Denver used last season.

Fantasy Tip: Although Manning's lingering health concerns should keep him from being the first quarterback taken in fantasy drafts, he should still be considered a solid QB1 heading into the 2015 season.

Broncos | Peyton Manning to play less in 2015?

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 13:20:47 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning may not play as much as usual next season in order to give him more rest. Head coach Gary Kubiak has indicated that he will tailor the offense to benefit Manning, including running the ball more. Subsequently, QB Brock Osweiler could see more playing time if Manning's playing time is adjusted. Kubiak said he's impressed with how excited Osweiler is and knows he wants to play a part in the Broncos' offense. Kubiak said Osweiler's opportunity to play will come at some point. "I always tell young players nobody knows if you're taking care of your business until you're thrown in the fire."

Fantasy Tip: Manning has been an elite fantasy quarterback almost his entire career and he should still be considered as such. That being said, at age 39, he may not offer as much value as he has in previous seasons, especially with a new offense that will probably see the Broncos run the ball more often. Again, Manning should still be considered a top-tier fantasy quarterback as long as he's healthy.

Broncos | Kubiak not worried about Peyton Manning

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 11:43:56 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning needing extra time this offseason to weigh his future is a non-issue, according to new head coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak also said he's not worried about how Manning will fit into his offense. "I'd pick Peyton Manning for any offense, I mean, we're going to go do what he does best," Kubiak said. "We're not going to go roll out if that's not something that's a strength of our team. We're going to do what he does best."

Fantasy Tip: Kubiak is intent on not forcing anything on Manning in their first season together. Kubiak's typicaly offenses include plenty of bootleg rollouts, which would be tough for the immobile Manning to pull off. However, the offense will be tailored to Manning's strengths, so fantasy owners shouldn't be all that worried. Manning should be able to produce plenty of QB1 games again in 2015, although he may not be able to replicate the big numbers he put up in 2013 and 2014.
