Broncos | No deadline for Peyton Manning

Tue, 09 Feb 2016 21:56:42 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning has "no deadline" for making a retirement decision, general manager John Elway said Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Manning said he plans to take a few weeks to decide his status for 2016, and most feel he is likely to call it a career and go out on top. He could return, but it might not be with the Broncos in 2016 due to a huge salary cap hit. Either way, Manning will be more of a QB2 and bye-week replacement rather than a reliable starter if he comes back.

Broncos | Peyton Manning decision important

Tue, 09 Feb 2016 11:20:43 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning still has one year remaining on the contract he signed in 2012. His $19 million base salary becomes guaranteed on March 9, and the deal counts $21.5 million against Denver's salary cap. The Broncos' available cap space will be impacted greatly by his decision.

Fantasy Tip: Manning is expected by many to retire, or at least not play with the Broncos next year, but he has about a month before the new league year begins. If Manning chooses to return to football, he should no longer be viewed as a QB1.

Broncos | Similarities between Elway, Manning

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 13:31:39 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning and general manager John Elway were both drafted first overall by the Baltimore Colts/Indianapolis Colts and they both won 14 playoff games and two Super Bowls.

Fantasy Tip: They're the two oldest quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl, too. Manning is expected to retire after winning Super Bowl last night, but him returning to football shouldn't be completely ruled out. If Manning does retire, then Brock Osweiler would likely be re-signed and become starter for the Broncos. He wouldn't be in QB1 territory just yet, though.

Broncos | Peyton Manning not rushing decision

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 09:48:13 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will not rush to make a decision about retirement after winning Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers, but he said "I'll be at peace, whichever way it goes." Manning's mother, Olivia, said she would like Peyton to retire and go out on top.

Fantasy Tip: It would be a shock to us all if Manning decided to come back after winning his second Super Bowl ring. He really has nothing left to prove. If he does return, it's unlikely to be with the Broncos, making life even more difficult for him. He'd be a really shaky fantasy backup if he's back in 2016.

Broncos | Peyton Manning quiet in Super Bowl win

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 20:15:36 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning completed 13 of 23 passes for 141 yards and an interception in a 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 Sunday, Feb. 7.

Fantasy Tip: The Denver defense carried the night, and while Manning wouldn't reveal his future plans, it is hard to see him being a starting-caliber fantasy quarterback in 2016 if he decides to play another year.

Broncos | Big bonus for Peyton Manning?

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 12:12:22 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will receive a $2 million bonus if the Broncos win the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: It's not abnormal for players, particularly quarterbacks, and coaches to receive sizable monetary bonuses for postseason and Super Bowl wins. The bonus would make for a nice addition to Manning's retirement fund, if he does indeed retire. Again, if Manning retires, Brock Osweiler will undoubtedly start, but that doesn't mean he should immediately be viewed as a QB1.

Broncos | Peyton Manning making history

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 11:57:11 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will be the first quarterback ever to start multiple Super Bowls for different teams.

Fantasy Tip: Manning is also the only quarterback to ever play in four different Super Bowls with four different head coaches. And while Manning did have an off season, he has shown up in the postseason. If this is Manning's last rodeo, then Brock Osweiler will start for Denver next season, but don't consider him a starting fantasy quarterback right away.

Broncos | Peyton Manning coming back?

Sat, 06 Feb 2016 18:26:03 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning's former coach and current Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator, Clyde Christensen, isn't "buying" the idea that the Super Bowl will be Manning's last game. "I know how much he loves doing what he does," Christensen said. "He sometimes forgets and still gives me projects and forgets that he has a coach there. I still get a glimpse of how much this guy enjoys football like he does, enjoys the quarterback position like he does and I wouldn't count on him bowing out too early."

Fantasy Tip: Manning's future remains up in the air, but if he does come back, his last couple of seasons suggest that he nothing more than a backup for fantasy purposes.

Broncos | Peyton Manning, Owen Daniels probable

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 15:30:24 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) both practiced in full all week and are probable to face the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

Fantasy Tip: Manning's biggest challenge is to not turn the ball over against a very aggressive Panthers defense. If Denver needs to rely on Manning to win the game with his arm, they might be in serious trouble. Daniels could once again be an X-factor like he was in the AFC Championship, but another two-TD performance won't be in the cards.

Broncos | Peyton Manning struggles over middle

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 14:24:29 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning threw 168 passes inside the numbers this season and was intercepted 10 times, resulting in a league-high 5.95% interception rate on such throws. The interception percentage ranks as the sixth-worst mark over the last 10 seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Making matters worse for Manning in Super Bowl 50 is a Carolina Panthers defense that recorded a league-high 16 interceptions on middle-of-the-field throws - the sixth-best total by a team over the last 10 seasons. The Broncos will likely need the running game and defense to hold up their end of the bargain in order to get Manning a second ring in what could be his final NFL game.

Broncos | Peyton Manning changing teams?

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 21:14:39 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning knows he likely won't be back with the Broncos if he decides to play in 2016, according to Archie Manning.

Fantasy Tip: There is a chance that Manning will retire after the Super Bowl, but if he does end up elsewhere next year, it is hard to see him being any more than a low-end QB1 based on his performance the last couple of seasons.

Broncos | Peyton Manning looking good

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 17:46:37 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) is looking as good as he has all season and threw several deep passes during practice Thursday, Feb. 4, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Manning has played better during the playoffs than he did during the regular season but will be facing a tough Carolina Panthers defense in Super Bowl 50. He should have several chances to make plays during the game but probably will not be able to post big numbers.

Broncos | Peyton Manning, Owen Daniels practice

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 16:31:34 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) once again practiced in full Thursday, Feb. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Manning won't put up big numbers against the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl, but if he avoids costly turnovers he'll give Denver a good shot at winning. Daniels will be needed in order to keep Carolina's linebackers honest, but don't expect another two-touchdown performance like in the AFC Championship.

Broncos | Arm not an issue for Peyton Manning

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 12:06:25 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning has drawn much criticism for his declining arm strength, but at least one teammate doesn't see it that way. WR Emmanuel Sanders believes most of Manning's issues have been a result of the foot injury that sidelined him for most of the second half of the season. "It wasn't his arm. It was just his foot. Peyton's arm has always been good to me, in my eyes. He's never had a really, really strong arm. He's always been the guy that before you come out of your breaks, the ball is there," Sanders said.

Fantasy Tip: Manning's completion percentage has actually dipped from 59.8% in the regular season to 55.1 in the playoffs, but he has avoided the interceptions that dogged him throughout the first four months of the season. Another mistake-free game would go a long way in helping the Broncos upset the Carolina Panthers in what could be his final game in Super Bowl 50.

Broncos | Manning, Owen Daniels fully practice

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 16:35:31 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) were full participants in practice Wednesday, Feb. 3.

Fantasy Tip: This could be the last meaningful game for both Manning and Daniels. The two veterans hooked up for the only two Broncos touchdowns in the AFC Championship a week and a half ago, but don't expect the same results against the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl. As for next season, much hinges on if Manning stays or retires, but you can probably leave Daniels on your league's waiver wire.

Broncos | Peyton Manning has struggled deep

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 11:01:50 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning ranked 33rd out of 35 quarterbacks this year with 27.5% accuracy on his passes that traveled 20 yards or more downfield, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fantasy Tip: It's no secret that the 39-year-old Manning doesn't have the arm strength he once did. The Carolina Panthers weakness is in their secondary, but can Manning exploit it if they suffocate the short throws? It remains to be seen, but either way it seems unlikely that No. 18 will put up big numbers on this defense.

Broncos | Peyton Manning has time for decision

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 09:10:47 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will be given plenty of time to make a decision on his future following Super Bowl 50, according to general manager John Elway. "He's got plenty of time, whatever time he needs. I think it's never going to be a quick decision. You don't want it to be. It's one that's going to change his life ... and it's always a hard decision," Elway said, "so we'll give him plenty of time."

Fantasy Tip: It's widely believed that this will indeed be Manning's final rodeo, win or lose. So it'd be a pretty big surprise if he returned for one more year in 2016, and that'd likely come in another uniform, too. Manning would be nothing more than a risky fantasy backup if he comes back for one more run.

Broncos | Peyton Manning to need hip replacement

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 09:05:21 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (hip) said he's been told he'll need a hip replacement surgery "down the road" and that he'll try to handle any potential issues with his neck and back in the future.

Fantasy Tip: The 39-year-old future Hall of Fame quarterback has suffered through multiple injuries the last year and a half, and Sunday's big game is likely to be his last. If he does stick around for one more year, no fantasy owner will want to take the risk on Manning as anything more than a backup QB.

Rams | Peyton Manning drawing Rams interest

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 07:40:27 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning is receiving interest from the Los Angeles Rams if he decides to play in 2016. The Rams have had internal discussions about pursuing Manning if he opts to play next season, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Manning is expected to hang it up after the Super Bowl. If he decides to return in 2016, Manning is a shaky, low-end QB1 in fantasy.

Broncos | Peyton Manning dinking and dunking

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 14:39:42 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning targeted 62% of his passes within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage during the regular season, and he connected on 69.9% of those throws with four touchdowns and nine interceptions. During the playoffs, 63% of his throws are of the short variety, with 35% of his throws between 10 and 19 yards, which was up from 24% during the regular season. Manning has thrown 20 of his 24 pass attempts at intermediate range to the right or middle of the field during the playoffs.

Fantasy Tip: Manning has become a game manager in this Denver offense, and he's clearly a shell of his former self, thanks to multiple injuries in the last two years. He can be effective if the run game backs him, though, but don't expect big numbers against a very solid Carolina Panthers defense in the Super Bowl.

Broncos | Peyton Manning talks arm strength

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 09:26:54 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning conceded that his arm isn't as strong as it used to be entering Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers.

"My arm is what it is," Manning said. "Honestly, my having a little time off to heal my foot helped some of the other parts. ... My arm feels OK. My arm has not been the same since I was injured four years ago. ... If I could throw left-handed it would be a lot easier. ... It's just different than it was. ... It's got a few yards on it, miles on it, however you want to say it."

Fantasy Tip: Manning has said he's as healthy as he's been all year heading into the big game, and we've even seen him overthrow his receivers several times in the playoffs. However, he's clearly a shell of his former shelf, even from his record-setting season two years ago.

Broncos | Peyton Manning struggles in Super Bowl

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 16:34:14 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning has thrown three of his four interceptions in Super Bowl play when targeting wide receivers as opposed to compiling almost as many yards per attempt when throwing at his tight ends and running backs in the big game.

Fantasy Tip: It's well documented that Manning has struggled in the playoffs and the Super Bowl in his illustrious career. No. 18 has become more of a game manager for this Broncos offense, too, so don't expect him to light it up one last time against a very good Carolina Panthers defense.

Broncos | Peyton Manning expected to retire

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 15:56:55 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning is expected to retire after Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers. "The reality is he let the cat out of the bag a little bit," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said. "I also know he has told close friends that he expects this to be his last game as well."

Fantasy Tip: It's widely expected that No. 18 will hang 'em up, win or lose, after the Super Bowl. Manning struggled to stay healthy and productive since the second half of the 2014 season, and he threw almost twice as many interceptions as touchdowns this year. If Manning does return for one last run in 2016, it likely won't be with the Broncos, and he shouldn't be anything more than a midrange backup fantasy QB.

Broncos | Peyton Manning, Owen Daniels probable

Fri, 29 Jan 2016 14:58:43 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) both practiced in full all week and are probable to play in Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Manning is more of a game manager in what could easily be his final NFL game, and he faces an uphill battle against a very aggressive and dangerous defense in the Panthers. Daniels had two touchdowns in the AFC Championship and is a safety blanket for Manning, but last game was his ceiling in terms of production.

Broncos | Peyton Manning struggles with picks

Fri, 29 Jan 2016 12:08:33 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning has thrown an interception on 5.1% of his pass attempts this season, which is a career high for him and the most among qualified quarterbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Manning has played better in the playoffs with two touchdowns and zero interceptions in two games. Manning will be facing a tough Panthers defense in Super Bowl 50 but should still have chances to make plays during the game.

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 15:06:56 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) were full participants in practice Thursday, Jan. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Manning and Daniels will have plenty of time to fully recover from their ailments before the Super Bowl. Manning and Daniels connected for two touchdowns in the AFC Championship, and they have their work cut out for them against a fierce Carolina Panthers defense.

Broncos | Denver struggled in turnover battle

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 16:37:00 -0800

The Denver Broncos finished tied for second to last in giveaways this year, mainly because QB Peyton Manning had 17 interceptions on the season. The Carolina Panthers led the NFL in takeaways this year. Teams that win the turnover battle in the Super Bowl are 36-4 in the big game. The Broncos are 8-0 when they win the turnover battle and are 9-1 when they get two or more takeaways.

Broncos | Peyton Manning, Owen Daniels practice

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 15:13:48 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) both took part in a full practice Wednesday, Jan. 27. The Broncos didn't actually practice Wednesday, so their statuses are an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Manning has become a game manager in this offense that is run-first. Although he did throw two touchdowns in the AFC Championship game, facing the Carolina Panthers and their aggressive defense will be a tough challenge for the future Hall of Famer. Daniels caught both of Manning's TD passes last game, but he'll struggle to repeat that performance in the Super Bowl.

Broncos | Peyton Manning trying to make history

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 14:55:09 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning would become the oldest quarterback in NFL history to win a Super Bowl if he's able to beat the Carolina Panthers, breaking the record of former Broncos QB John Elway in 1998.

Fantasy Tip: Manning is essentially a glorified game manager as he nears the end of his career, and he only threw for more than 300 yards twice this season. He'll be facing a stout Panthers defense in the Super Bowl that leads the NFL in takeaways. Manning must be careful after throwing 17 picks during the regular season.

Broncos | Peyton Manning could have swan song

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 09:14:44 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning was captured on camera telling New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick after the AFC Championship that the Super Bowl could be his last game. "Hey, listen, this might be my last rodeo. So, it sure has been a pleasure," Manning told Belichick.

Fantasy Tip: If Manning decides to return in 2016, he'll be a midrange QB1 option in drafts. He won't carry a lot of upside unless he shows rejuvenated arm strength in camp.

Broncos | Peyton Manning has big cap hit

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 08:58:08 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning is under contract for the 2016 season and carries a salary cap charge of $21.5 million, which is larger than his cap figure last year when the Broncos asked him to take a pay cut. Manning has said that he won't make a decision about 2016 until this season is over.

Fantasy Tip: If Manning and the Broncos win Super Bowl 50, it seems like a good chance that No. 18 will ride off into the sunset and call it a career. If he loses he could do the same. If Manning does come back in 2016, it'll unlikely be with Denver, and his advanced age and risk of injury would make him a quarterback that most would avoid in fantasy drafts.

Broncos | Peyton Manning iffy against ball hawks

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 07:25:27 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning delivered a mixed bag against the Kansas City Chiefs this season, who ranked second in the NFL with 22 interceptions. He was 26-for-45 (57.8%) for 256 yards, three touchdowns and one interception against them in Week 2. He had a miserable game against them Nov. 15, when he was 5-for-20 (25.0%) for 35 yards and four interceptions. The Carolina Panthers, his Super Bowl opponent, led the league with 24 interceptions.

Fantasy Tip: Manning could retire after this game. If he decides to return in 2016, he'll be a midrange QB1 option in drafts. He won't carry a lot of upside unless he shows rejuvenated arm strength in camp.

Broncos | Peyton Manning efficient in Super Bowl

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 12:22:32 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning has completed 68.2% of his passes in Super Bowl play in his career, and only Dallas Cowboys QB Troy Aikman (70.0%) had a higher completion percentage in multiple Super Bowl appearances.

Fantasy Tip: Manning just isn't the same quarterback as the one that played in three previous Super Bowls. His completion percentage was at 59.8% this year, but he had almost twice as many interceptions as touchdowns, and he's become more of a game manager in this Denver offense. Nobody should be expecting a marvelous performance from No. 18 against a stout Carolina Panthers defense.

Broncos | Big bonus for Peyton Manning

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 11:42:17 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning received a $2 million bonus for winning the AFC Championship. He will receive an addition $2 million bonus if the Broncos win the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: It pays to win, especially in the playoffs. Manning was solid in the AFC Championship, avoiding big mistakes aside from a fluky backwards pass that was primarily Ronnie Hillman's fault. As for Manning's future, that remains to be seen, as he could hang up the cleats following the Super Bowl.

Broncos | Peyton Manning likely will play

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 13:40:23 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 22, and is listed as probable for the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Manning ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) is coming off a decent performance in the divisional game and have chances to post solid numbers against the Patriots. He is the least expensive quarterback available on FantasyScore, so owners may want to spend a little more money for a better option.

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 14:34:59 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) both practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Manning ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) has the tag of game manager now for the Broncos, so he has a low fantasy ceiling and is the least attractive to daily gamers this weekend. Daniels ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is capable of being a nice value play if you want to save money at the tight end position.

Broncos | Denver not looking ahead

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 12:02:22 -0800

Denver Broncos president and general manager John Elway won't comment on the future of QBs Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler, saying the team is "staying in the moment" right now.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos would be crazy to stick with Manning for another season after a disappointing 2015 season in which he threw almost twice as many interceptions as touchdowns and missed six weeks with injury. Osweiler appears to be Denver's QB of the future, but contract negotiations could be tricky. Even if No. 18 lands with another team in 2016, he shouldn't be considered a fantasy starter.

Broncos | Peyton Manning in shotgun less

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 10:12:38 -0800

The Denver Broncos ran 83.7% of their plays out of the shotgun formation during the regular season when QB Peyton Manning played. However, against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, the Broncos only ran 52.1% out of the shotgun with Manning.

Fantasy Tip: This speaks mainly to the fact that Manning ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) is the healthiest he's been all season and is able to run more of Gary Kubiak's traditional offense. It shouldn't make you any more interested to use him on FantasyScore, though, and he has the least upside of any remaining quarterback, especially since Denver would prefer to pound it on the ground and keep Tom Brady off the field in the AFC Championship.

Broncos | Peyton Manning, Owen Daniels practice

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 15:03:15 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) both practiced in full Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Manning ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) had only 222 yards and no touchdowns last weekend, and he's clearly the least attractive of the remaining quarterbacks. He could be useful as a contrarian play, however. Daniels ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) can help you save cap space if you prefer not to use Rob Gronkowski or Greg Olsen this weekend.

Broncos | Can Peyton Manning produce big stats?

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 18:56:15 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning faces a semi-favorable matchup in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24, against the New England Patriots. The Pats allowed 240.7 yards per game through the air in the regular season, ranking just 17th in the league. They also gave up 24 passing touchdowns with 57 pass plays of 20 or more yards, most among remaining playoff teams.

Fantasy Tip: Manning ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) threw for 222 yards and no touchdowns in the win over the Steelers last week, and plenty feel he is nearly at the end of his rope. Does he have one more big performance in him to get his team to Super Bowl 50? He is slightly cheaper than his counterpart, Tom Brady ($8,400, 16.8% of cap), and he faces a much more giving pass defense. He is a bit risky, but with Demaryius Thomas ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) and Emmanuel Sanders ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) at receiver, and a solid run game to keep the defense honest, Peyton might shine.

Broncos | Peyton Manning wasn't going to be benched

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 09:55:15 -0800

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said he never considered benching QB Peyton Manning in favor of QB Brock Osweiler in the second half of the divisional round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. "No," Kubiak said. "We were struggling because we didn't catch the ball. We would have had a really big first half. There was 100 yards of plays we left out there. We just need to keep plugging away."

Fantasy Tip: Manning had only 222 yards and no touchdowns against a very beatable Pittsburgh secondary, but he wasn't helped by drops from his receivers. The New England Patriots won't present a much easier matchup for No. 18, but it all will come down to how well Denver can run the ball.

Broncos | Peyton Manning quiet in win

Sun, 17 Jan 2016 16:58:11 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning completed 21 of 37 passes for 222 yards in a 23-16 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Manning wasn't helped by repeated drops, but he was unable to exploit a porous Pittsburgh secondary. He seems like the weakest quarterback option at FantasyScore heading into the conference title games.

Broncos | Peyton Manning, Owen Daniels probable

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 15:34:06 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) both practiced in full all week and are probable to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional round Sunday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Manning ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) is flying under the radar this week, but he's facing a Steelers secondary that likes to allow big numbers in the passing game. Daniels ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) could be a big value pick on FantasyScore with the Steelers focusing on stopping Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.

Broncos | Peyton Manning can run full playbook

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 16:19:40 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) has healed enough that he and head coach Gary Kubiak said that the full playbook is available, and Manning said "everything is on the table." Manning could be under center, and when that happens the play-action game and running game work better. Denver's top three rushing games this year (210, 179 and 170 yards) all came with QB Brock Osweiler under center for the majority of snaps. Manning played 11 of his 29 snaps under center against the San Diego Chargers in Week 17, and the Broncos had a season-best 220 rushing yards. The Pittsburgh Steelers had the No. 5 run defense in the league this year.

Fantasy Tip: Manning ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) is a big unknown heading into the playoffs, and many might be scared off by his foot injury. However, he appears to be fully healthy and is facing a weak secondary. If Denver can't run, Manning could put up a surprisingly good game.

Broncos | Divisional round not kind to Peyton

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 16:17:11 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning has a career record of 4-6 in the divisional round of the playoffs. In those 10 games, he has only completed 61.90% of his passes, but he has thrown 15 touchdowns to nine interceptions.

Fantasy Tip: It's undeniable that Manning ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) has played worse in the postseason than the regular season throughout his career. The divisional round has been toughest for him as far as a win-loss record is concerned. The silver lining is that the Pittsburgh Steelers were atrocious against quarterbacks this season, giving up the seventh most fantasy points to the position. He may not be the ideal starter, but he's worth a look for FantasyScore lineups.

Broncos | Peyton Manning, Owen Daniels practice

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 15:23:41 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) both practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Many fantasy gamers might be scared to take a chance on Manning ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) in the playoffs. Now might be the perfect time to use him as a contrarian play against a shaky secondary. Daniels ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) didn't do much against Pittsburgh in their first matchup this year, but he should be a bigger part of the offense and could be a nice value pick at tight end.

Broncos | Peyton Manning has playoff incentives

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 09:13:46 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will receive a $2 million bonus if the Broncos win the AFC Championship Game and $2 million for a Super Bowl win.

Fantasy Tip: Manning ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) has been a shell of himself most of the year due to health and attrition. There are worse matchups than the Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional round this week, but he hasn't given much optimism for performance on FantasyScore at his price.

Broncos | Peyton Manning, Owen Daniels practice

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 14:44:23 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (foot) and TE Owen Daniels (knees) both practiced in full Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Manning ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) is a giant question mark entering the playoffs. Is he healthy enough to produce noteworthy numbers? The good news for him is he's facing the weakest remaining secondary in the playoffs in the Pittsburgh Steelers. He's worth a look, but it's a high price to pay for such an unknown. Daniels ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has become a bigger part of the offense lately and is a solid tight end choice if you want to save a little money.

Broncos | Peyton Manning plays well vs. Steelers

Tue, 12 Jan 2016 15:31:50 -0800

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning holds a 3-1 career record against the Pittsburgh Steelers and has thrown eight touchdowns to four interceptions in those games.

Fantasy Tip: The numbers don't flash off the screen, including 260.5 yards per game, but the 3-1 record is the big number. Manning ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) is fully healthy now, and he will make his first start in two months this weekend. Ideally, he will have shaken off the rust two weeks ago versus the San Diego Chargers. He actually has the best matchup of any quarterback, too, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
