Rays | Eduar Lopez comes in for David Dejesus

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:16:21 -0700

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired RHP Eduar Lopez from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Tuesday, July 28, in exchange for OF David DeJesus.

Fantasy Tip: Lopez is several years away from appearing in the major leagues, but both Brandon Guyer ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) and Joey Butler ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) should receive more playing time with DeJesus gone from the crowded Rays' outfield. Both Guyer and Butler can occasionally be used on FantasyScore when facing a left-handed pitcher.

Angels | David DeJesus going to Anaheim

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:11:08 -0700

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim acquired OF David DeJesus from the Tampa Bay Rays Tuesday, July 28. Tampa Bay will receive RHP Eduar Lopez in return.

Fantasy Tip: DeJesus ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is a serviceable platoon option against right-handed pitching. He'll likely split his time with Shane Victorino in left field.

Rays | David DeJesus resting

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 15:25:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF David DeJesus is not in the lineup against Detroit Tigers left-handed SP David Price Tuesday, July 28. OF Brandon Guyer is starting in left field and hitting leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Guyer ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is in a favorable lineup spot but doesn't have much offensive upside, and he's stuck in a tough matchup against Price. He's one to avoid for your daily lineups.

Rays | David DeJesus out of the lineup

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 07:24:24 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF David DeJesus is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey Saturday, July 18. OF Joey Butler will start in left field and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: DeJesus ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and will return soon. Butler ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has recorded only three hits in his last 13 games and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Rays | Jake Elmore playing left field

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 11:31:24 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays INF/OF Jake Elmore is batting eighth and playing left field against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Saturday, July 11. OF David DeJesus is receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Elmore ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is hitless in three career at-bats against Keuchel and only has one hit in his last 19 at-bats entering the game. Avoid using him today in FantasyScore.

Rays | David DeJesus in two-hole

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 13:54:06 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF David DeJesus is starting in left field and hitting second against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Friday, July 10. OFs Joey Butler and Grady Sizemore are starting on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Butler loses the most fantasy value with the additions of Sizemore and Jaso to the roster recently. He should only be owned now in the deepest of AL leagues. DeJesus ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is much better against righties (.276 average, all five of his homers), but he hasn't fared very well at home (.216-2-7) this year. He remains a pretty unattractive FantasyScore commodity, even hitting high in the order.

Rays | David DeJesus starting against Royals

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 15:17:53 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF David DeJesus is starting in left field and batting sixth against Kansas City Royals SP Jeremy Guthrie Wednesday, July 8. OF Joey Butler is not in the lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: DeJesus ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has a .177/.247/.228 slash line over his past 28 games dating back to the beginning of June. FantasyScore players should aim higher Wednesday. He appears to be in a platoon with outfielders Grady Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) and Joey Butler ($3,500, 7.0% of cap). In seasonal formats, all three outfielders should be reserved for cavernous mixed and AL-only formats. FantasyScore players should be extremely picky when they utilize any of them, too.

Rays | John Jaso to play a lot

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 16:09:55 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso will play a lot in the outfield, but it'll be a juggling effort to get him, OF Grady Sizemore and OF David DeJesus all in the lineup together, according to manager Kevin Cash.

Fantasy Tip: Jaso ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting leadoff in Game 2 of the team's doubleheader tonight, and he could be a very nice value pick at catcher on FantasyScore when facing certain right-handed pitchers. Consider adding him in two-catcher and AL-only leagues if he's available on your league's waiver wire.

Rays | David DeJesus out Tuesday

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 16:06:06 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF David DeJesus comes out of the starting lineup Tuesday, July 7, against the Kansas City Royals. OF Brandon Guyer will start in right field and hit seventh in the order against RHP Edinson Volquez.

Fantasy Tip: Guyer ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is hitting .274 against righties, although he has just six extra-base hits in 87 plate appearances. FantasyScore owners will be able to find better options.

Rays | David DeJesus hitting second

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 07:29:50 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF David DeJesus is hitting second in the order Sunday, July 5, against the New York Yankees and RHP Ivan Nova.

Fantasy Tip: DeJesus ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is just 1-for-his-last-13, and he hasn't had a multi-hit game since June 17. Despite the recent struggles, DeJesus can be used in GPP tournaments, as he has a .271 batting average against righties this season, and he has hit all five of his home runs off right-handers.
