Colts | Reggie Wayne ahead of schedule, expects to be cleared

Tue, 08 Apr 2014 16:33:11 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (knee) is expected to be cleared for football activities April 25 after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in Week 7 last season. "I feel good, I'm ahead of schedule," Wayne said. "I'm at the point where I'm tired of doing the same rehab stuff, to be honest with you. I'm excited to get back to football activities. I feel good." Wayne wants to participate in the team's minicamp, but he'll be held out as a precaution.

Fantasy Tip: Wayne will be heading into his age-36 season. At that age and coming off a serious knee injury, you'd expect Wayne's production to drop considerably, especially with Hakeem Nicks and T.Y. Hilton around to take catches away from him. Wayne's days of serving as a WR1 or 2 are over.

Colts | Reggie Wayne should be ready for camp

Fri, 21 Feb 2014 18:45:43 -0800

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said WR Reggie Wayne (knee) is making progress in his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and should be ready to participate no later than training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor his rehab during the offseason to see if he suffers any setback. He should be a starting fantasy wide receiver next season if he is healthy.

Colts | Reggie Wayne expects to play next season

Mon, 13 Jan 2014 14:41:38 -0800

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (knee) said his surgically repaired knee feels good and that he expects to play next season at the level he did before he suffered the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to see how Wayne recovers from his torn anterior cruciate ligament before determining his fantasy value for next season. If healthy, Wayne probably could be considered a No. 2 wide receiver.

Colts | Coby Fleener expected to step up

Fri, 01 Nov 2013 20:16:21 -0700

One NFL personnel executive said Friday, Nov. 1, that he "would expect a heightened feature (role) of (TE Coby Fleener)" with WR Reggie Wayne (knee) out for the season.

Fantasy Tip: Fleener is still only considered a Top 20 fantasy option at his position until he steps up and does a little more. The Colts will be facing the No. 1 defense of the Houston Texans in Week 9, so it will be a tall order for Fleener to step up his production Sunday.

Colts | Can T.Y. Hilton be No. 1 material?

Fri, 01 Nov 2013 19:23:44 -0700

One NFL personnel executive said Friday, Nov. 1, that he expects WR T.Y. Hilton to take on a "front line, prominent role" following the loss of WR Reggie Wayne (knee).

Fantasy Tip: Hilton should still be considered more of a WR3/4 fantasy option heading into Week 9, especially since the Houston Texans rank first in the NFL in defense.

Colts | No. 3 WR job up for grabs

Mon, 28 Oct 2013 19:37:45 -0700

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano is uncertain who will step up as the team's No. 3 wide receiver behind WRs Darrius Heyward-Bey and T.Y. Hilton with WR Reggie Wayne (knee) done for the season. WRs LaVon Brazill and Griff Whalen are expected to battle for the job.

Fantasy Tip: The winner of the No. 3 battle is still not a recommended fantasy option at this point. Brazill has speed to burn, and seems like he should be the favorite, but unless Heyward-Bey or Hilton also go down, don't waste the roster spot.

Colts | Darrius Heyward-Bey gets chance to be No. 1

Mon, 28 Oct 2013 19:15:22 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey is expected to step up and produce, as he is technically the team's No. 1 wide receiver following the season-ending injury to WR Reggie Wayne (knee).

Fantasy Tip: Heyward-Bey has managed just 18 catches for 190 yards so far this season, and despite his projected spot on the team's depth chart following the Wayne injury, he should still be viewed as nothing more than a WR3/4 or flex fantasy play in most leagues.
