Phillies | Cole Hamels auditioning for trade

Tue, 26 May 2015 05:53:34 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels has been at the center of trade speculation all year, and Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. has offered to include cash in any prospective deal that would send Hamels to a new club. Hamels has pitched brilliantly in 2015, which should prompt interested teams to get him while he is hot, in the opinion of FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. Hamels should be traded before the July 31 waiver trade deadline, according to Rosenthal.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels' value is largely dependent on where he lands, but he is pitching so well this year that he should remain a fantasy ace in most settings. Stay tuned.

Blue Jays | TOR inquired on Cole Hamels

Sat, 23 May 2015 13:39:41 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels was the subject of trade talks by the Toronto Blue Jays, but Hamels told Toronto he would not waive his no-trade clause.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) is having a decent season, but there is no doubt he will be trade bait by midseason if not before. He continues to be a strong start nevertheless.

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels allowed two earned runs, five hits and a walk with nine strikeouts over seven innings to even his record at 3-3 Wednesday, May 14, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels is 10-0 in 16 starts since the start of the 2014 season when he receives three or more runs of support, and he is 98-14 in 150 career starts when he gets three or more runs of support. At $7,400 (or 14.8% of cap) he remains a solid FantasyScore play.

Marlins | Martin Prado owns Cole Hamels

Sat, 02 May 2015 18:44:45 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado hit a three-run home run against Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels Saturday, May 2, and finished the game 2-fo-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored and four RBIs. He is now hitting .315 with nine RBIs in 67 at-bats against Hamels.

Fantasy Tip: Prado ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has been solid for the Marlins this season, and while he is merely a matchup play at FantasyScore, make sure to start him whenever he faces Hamels.

Phillies | No run support for Cole Hamels

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 20:45:41 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels allowed one unearned run, five hits and three walks over six innings in a no-decision Wednesday, April 22, against the Miami Marlins. He also recorded five strikeouts in the 106-pitch quality start.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($7,800; 15.6% of cap) is winless in four starts despite a respectable 3.75 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. The problem has been the Phillies have totaled just six runs in his four games started this season. FantasyScore owners will still like his 23 strikeouts over 24 innings, but be mindful wins will be hard to come by.

Phillies | Cole Hamels serves up another homer

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 17:29:39 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels gave up his seventh home run of the season Thursday, April 16, against the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) has gotten off to a frustrating start for owners who paid the high price on draft day or continue to pay up on FantasyScore. This season it took just 65 batters faced to hit seven home runs off of Hamels after it took 359 batters to hit seven homers last season. It's an unlucky start for Hamels, but owners will need to show patience in the likely ace of their fantasy staff.

Phillies | Cole Hamels solid against Nats

Sun, 12 Apr 2015 13:29:32 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels has a 2.59 ERA in 33 career starts against the Washington Nationals, following a seven-inning start Saturday, April 11, where he allowed one run.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) is off to a strong start, but keep this in mind when he faces the Nationals. Looks like Hamels has a mastery of Washington, give or take one bad outing. Hamels is a solid pitcher in all formats.

Phillies | Cole Hamels has rough outing

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 16:34:48 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels allowed four runs on five hits in five innings against the Boston Red Sox Monday, April 6. He also allowed four home runs in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) was facing a tough Boston lineup, so outings like this probably will not happen very often. Hamels is scheduled to face the Washington Nationals in his next start and could be a solid option on FantasyScore.

Phillies | Cole Hamels to start opener

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 03:55:08 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels will start the team's opener Monday, April 6, against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) goes up against a team that has made no secret it would like him in a Boston uniform. The teams just haven't agreed on a price tag. His stats suggest a mixed bag. Hamels was 3-3 with a 3.20 ERA at Citizens Bank Park last year, but he was 0-2, 6.75 in April. Combined with a revived Boston lineup, he may not be worth the high salary.
