Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy went 1-for-3 with an RBI Monday, July 27, against the Atlanta Braves to push his hitting streak to 10 games.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is hitting .314 with seven runs scored, a homer and six RBIs during his 10-game run making him a sound investment in FantasyScore.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy carrying hit streak

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 11:35:52 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy is 10-for-32 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI during his nine-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is hot with the stick right now, but he's facing a left-handed pitcher in Atlanta Braves starter Alex Wood tonight. Hardy is hitting just .203 (15-for-74) with none of his six home runs and only five RBI on the season against southpaws.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy streaking

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 19:40:32 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy went 2-for-4 with a double in a 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday, June 18, extending his hitting streak to 11 games.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is hitting .390 during the stretch, and he has also recorded three straight multi-hit games. He could continue to provide a solid return on investment at FantasyScore this weekend against a Toronto team ranked 23rd in ERA.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy back in action

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 13:41:07 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (oblique) is back in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Shaun Marcum Friday, June 5. Hardy is hitting eighth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is hitting an anemic .190 (16-for-84) this year with two home runs and six RBI, and he's not a smart FantasyScore play after missing the last three games.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy out again

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 10:29:51 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (oblique) is out of the lineup again Thursday, June 4. 2B Everth Cabrera is starting at the 6 and hitting ninth in the batting order against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy is improving and is expected to return to the lineup tomorrow night. Cabrera ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) will have the benefit of hitting right-handed against the southpaw, but he still remains a low-end second base option on FantasyScore against one of the best pitchers in the American League this season.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy still out, but improving

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 14:47:47 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (oblique) took 30 swings off a tee and did some dry swings and was feeling better Wednesday, June 3, but he remains out of the lineup. It's also a long shot he'll play Thursday, June 4, but Hardy is expecting to play sometime this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is starting at shortstop for the second straight day and hitting ninth in the order against Houston Astros starter Lance McCullers Wednesday. You could do worse than Flaherty as your second baseman on FantasyScore, but he leaves a lot to be desired and is a low-end commodity.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy gets good news

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 21:29:51 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (oblique) had an MRI Tuesday, June 2, and it came back clean. He is considered day to day.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy missed his second straight game Tuesday. FantasyScore players should avoid Hardy ($3,500; or 7.0% of cap) until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any lingering effects of his injury.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy unlikely to play Wednesday

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 15:38:24 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (oblique) is unlikely to play again Wednesday, June 3, according to manager Buck Showalter.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) looks increasingly likely to require a DL stint, depending on the results of his MRI exam tonight. The injury-prone Hardy already missed over 20 games to start the season and missed a similar timeline with an oblique injury four years ago. Prepare for the worst if you own him. Hardy should be left to the waiver wire in shallow mixed leagues.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy going for MRI

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 15:04:42 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (oblique) will undergo an MRI exam for a left oblique problem Tuesday, June 2. Hardy is concerned that he might be out more than a few games, and he missed 27 games with a left oblique strain in 2011 in his first season with Baltimore. Hardy already missed 25 games to start the year with a left shoulder injury. He's hitting only .190 with two home runs and six RBI in 87 plate appearances.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy isn't worth owning, even without the injury, in shallow mixed leagues. Ryan Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap), who is starting at shortstop tonight, and Everth Cabrera ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) would likely split time at the 6 if Hardy were to go back on the DL. Neither infielder is very attractive on FantasyScore, but Cabrera has slightly more upside as a stolen base threat.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy out of lineup again

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 14:55:59 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (side) is out of the lineup again Tuesday, June 2. 2B Ryan Flaherty is starting at shortstop and hitting eighth in the batting order against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy could land on the disabled list, depending on what his MRI exam results show. Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and Everth Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) would likely split time at the 6 if that were to happen. Flaherty doesn't have much offensive upside and doesn't steal bases, either, making him a weak FantasyScore option.
