Orioles | Rehab assignment close for J.J. Hardy

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 14:41:06 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (shoulder) took batting practice Friday, April 17, and his shoulder felt good during infield drills. Hardy could start a rehab assignment next week.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) could be back in Baltimore to make his season debut sometime late next week. Everth Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has seen the most playing time at shortstop in Hardy's absence, and he can be a sneaky FantasyScore option in the right matchups because of his speed.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy not ready for rehab assignment

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 14:30:13 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (shoulder) took a day off from batting practice Thursday, April 16. He will resume batting practice and workouts Friday, April 17, but is not ready for a rehab assignment.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy is likely still approximately two weeks away from rejoining the Orioles. FantasyScore owners should take a wait-and-see approach with Hardy. It would be wise to give him a few games to readjust to major league pitching before utilizing him in contests. Everth Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has been playing shortstop and recently hitting atop the Orioles' lineup, but returning limited results. Cabrera is nothing but a low-priced flier for daily contests.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy takes batting practice

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 13:21:46 -0700

Orioles | J.J. Hardy progressing

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 15:30:20 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (shoulder) is scheduled to play with Double-A Bowie during the Orioles' current road trip, and he took soft toss Monday, April 13.

Fantasy Tip: It may be another week or so before Hardy ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) returns to Baltimore's lineup for his season debut. In the meantime, Everth Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) isn't a bad FantasyScore consideration at shortstop, mainly for his stolen base potential.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy taking swings

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 09:41:39 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) won't be ready to use at FantasyScore for probably at least another week. In the meantime, Everth Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) and Ryan Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) will split time at the 6. Cabrera is the more attractive daily piece, and he's in the starting lineup and hitting leadoff Friday.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy ahead of schedule

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 14:30:10 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (shoulder) will play in a rehab game for Single-A Frederick next week. Hardy is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a shoulder injury.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) can be ignored for at least another week. In the meantime, Ryan Flaherty ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Everth Cabrera ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should take turns playing shortstop. Cabrera is the better daily fantasy play because of his speed and ability to steal bases.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy ahead of schedule

Fri, 03 Apr 2015 10:12:04 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (shoulder) said the swelling is down in his shoulder, and he's ahead of schedule. He has full range of motion in his arm, but he won't resume baseball activities at this time.

Fantasy Tip: With Hardy ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) opening up on the disabled list, Everth Cabrera ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is expected to start for the O's at the 6. He'll be a cheap FantasyScore option for stolen bases in the early going.
